Pacquiao filed a lawsuit on Wednesday in Las Vegas, naming the Mayweathers and boxing promoters Oscar De La Hoya and Richard Schaefer as defendants.
In the suit, Pacquiao insists the Mayweathers’ claims that Pacquiao used performance-enhancing drugs, like steroids, are false and that they were made as an attempt to destroy his professional reputation.
Pacquiao is asking for damages in excess of $75,000 (£46,900), plus punitive damages.
Pacquiao and Mayweather were expected to meet in the ring on 13 March, but negotiations have stalled over demands by Mayweather for the fighters to have Olympic-standard blood testing.
Schaefer tells the Los Angeles Times newspaper that talks continue over a possible Pacquaio-Mayweather fight. »
Tony Y. Reyes‘ Ang Darling Kong Aswang, starring comedian Vic Sotto, is the 2009 Metro Manila Film Festival’s #2 hit. Apparently Filipinos, like movie audiences elsewhere, have been craving for stories featuring vampires. But unlike the worldwide megahits Twilight and The Twilight Saga: New Moon, in which the vampire is a sexy male (Robert Pattinson), in Ang Darling Kong Aswang the undead is a sexy woman, Christine Reyes. Ang Panday has been this year’s top film. At the other extreme, boxer-turned-actor Manny Pacquiao’s vehicle Wapakman has thus far come in last at the box office. Also of interest, Philippine News offers the Metro Manila festival’s criteria for the Best Picture award: "artistry, creativity and technical excellence, [...] »

Manny Pacquiao's trainer is being sued for something that's only legal in the ring -- assault, battery and infliction of emotional distress.According to a lawsuit just filed in L.A. County Superior Court, Freddie Roach became enraged at Wildcard Gym Boxing Club in L.A., after coming face-to-face with Alex Vidal -- a boxing writer who penned a story titled, "Sick Roach Misses Conception's Last Workout." Roach -- who suffers from Parkinson's disease -- allegedly challenged Vidal, »
Look, we all know what you're doing this weekend. You're not preparing for Thanksgiving, raking the last of your leaves before the snow arrives or indulging in this year's batch of Beaujolais Nouveau. Rather, you're going to be at your local cinema watching Taylor Lautner's perfectly-sculpted abdominal muscles in "The Twilight Saga: New Moon." And we can't blame you — it's a heck of a roller coaster ride through teenage angst and vampire mythology. But in between screenings (because you're obviously seeing it more than once), you should catch up on everything you missed this week here on the Newsroom blog.

On Saturday night (November 14), all eyes were on Las Vegas and the boxing match between Wbo welterweight champion Miguel Cotto and Filipino phenom Manny Pacquiao. The challenger started off shakily, but it was all Pacquiao from the second round on. He consistently knocked Cotto to the mat, and the fight probably could have been stopped as early as the eighth round. But the referee finally waived off the fight in the 12th and final round, giving Pacquiao the victory and his seventh championship belt (he's won one in seven different weight classes).
The night drew a number of huge stars to the MGM Grand Arena, including Mark Wahlberg, Will Ferrell and Diddy, who tweeted throughout the night from his seat at ringside. "I got Cotto in a upset," he wrote before the fighters touched gloves. As the night went on, Diddy changed his tune. "This is ugly live! A lot of blood, »

It's a little embarrassing to admit, but even with both the gorgeous Eliza Dushku and Olivia Wilde passing through our office this week, the one person I was most excited to meet was a dude. With a total of 40 fights, 40 wins and 25 KOs, Floyd "Money" Mayweather is an undeniable force in the world of boxing, with an almost perfect combination of lightning quick speed, real knockout power and incredible showmanship. He's my favourite fighter in the world of boxing, and yesterday he stopped by the MTV News studios for the first time.
What's funny is that with all the rappers, pop stars, actors and actresses who drop in for interviews, the only time some of the fellas in the office (naming no names, except for Nick, Monty and Sean) get even slightly impressed is when an athlete (or Mr. T) walks into the building. Today was one of those occasions. »

HBO has had me enthralled with the weekly 24/7 preamble to the hyped to the hills fistic free-for-all known as the Mayweather/Marquez showdown. Last night Floyd Mayweather jabbed and power punched our south-of-the-border amigo to a Mexican mole. Poor Juan Manuel Marquez, despite his secret weapon of Drinking His Own Urine before a match, sadly he folded like a house of cards as Floyd warmed up for what boxing insiders are hoping will be a Mayweather/ Manny Pacquiao match. Even though Manny Is smaller than the Pretty Boy. And Manny swears by eating Baluts, which some would argue is Way more disgusting than swilling your own pee pee. Floyd Mayweather Jr. had his way with the »

Freshly announced as part of the lineup for the 2010 Metro Manila Film Festival, Topel Lee looks to bring the latest Filipino superhero to the screen with his Wapakman. With the film still relatively early in production - Metro Manila basically screens every Filipino film of note for the given year - details are still sketchy beyond the fact that Manny Pacquiao stars as a normal man who develops super powers and WWE star Dave Batista is in the cast, I presume as the villain. Our own Joey Fernandez has been singing Topel Lee’s praises in these pages for years now and it’s not hard to see why based on the short teaser that has just been released. Simple concept, stellar execution. Very nice. Find it after the break.

Wapakamn is an upcoming superhero film out of the Phillipines directed by Topel Lee. Billed as an scifi/fantasy/action/comedy, it headlines Phillipino star Manny Pacquiao, and from what we can see in the teaser, looks beautifully shot. It's basically a bunch of people getting hit by an "unseen fist". Wapakman will premier at the Metro Manila Film Festival in December.
Wapakman is the story of a superhero, played by who else but Manny Pacquiao himself. His nemesis is Fil-Am wrestler Batista while Pussycats Dolls’ lead Nicole Scherzinger, who is also half Pinay, is his love interest.

Probably the most embarrassing day of my life was when my brother (favorite movie: Never Back Down, all-time. Favorite movie, all time) knew that Christian Bale was in The Fighter before I did. He knew this because he saw him and Marky Mark hanging out watching boxer and pound-for-pound king Manny Pacquiao work with Freddie Roach at the Wildcard Gym. So I don't like to talk about this movie. But Christian Bale is. Apparently it's coming pretty soon. Collider caught up with him and he said »

The funnyman was invited to join rap mogul Diddy in Las Vegas earlier this month to attend the big fight, all expenses paid, on the condition that Brand got them into the event.
"Then I was getting these phone calls from Puff Daddy going, 'Yeah, yeah, I sorted out the plane. Have you got the tickets?' And I'm like, 'No, no, I'll get 'em.'
The Forgetting Sarah Marshall star failed miserably in his attempts to get complimentary ringside passes from fellow Brit Hatton - and Diddy ended up having to dig deep to purchase the tickets himself.
Brand continues, "More and more pressure was building. In the end Puff Daddy had to buy the tickets. They were pricey! In the region of thousands of pounds. It was a very generous act."
And Brand confesses he squirmed as he watched Pacquiao deliver a knock-out punch in the second round, flooring Hatton within minutes of the fight starting.
He adds, "I'm against all violence. I didn't know how violently I was against it until I went to a boxing match. It was rough. Ricky Hatton is beloved and I adore him very dearly.
"But I looked at him and I was like, 'Oh no, that doesn't look like a very good way of making a living!'" »
Russell Brand, a comedian-turned-actor, is reportedly dating former "The Girls Next Door" star, Holly Madison. Russell, who is known as ladies lover, met Holly in Las Vegas at a party thrown by Jay-z after the Ricky Hatton/Manny Pacquiao boxing match earlier this month.
Russell has been visiting the ex. girlfriend of Playboy founder Hugh Hefner since Russell began filming the "Forgetting Sarah Marshall" spinoff "Get Him to the Greek" in Los Angeles. A source said, "Russell has really hit it off with Holly. She's a big star in the Us, which he finds really attractive. And his constant tomfoolery has her in stitches."
The source also added, "Russ has been making late night visits to her home in the Hollywood Hills. He's been there three times in the past week and neighbors »
NY Boxing Examiner Michael Marley, who also runs the controversial boxing site Boxing Confidential, has suggested that the number one fighter in about six different weight classes, Manny Pacquiao (who is just coming off of a victory against Ricky "The Hitman" Hatton), might be afraid of the Twilight vampires, but that he thinks that he could take them. I wonder which particular vampires Mr. Marley is referring to, because from my read of the Twilight series (which has spawned a sequel film - The Twilight Saga: New Moon as well as The Twilight Saga: Eclipse) there'd be no chance. Sure Pacquiao's a great fighter, a philanthropist (richer than his own government, so he hands out food and necessities to the poor, but against Edward (Robert Pattinson), Emmett (Kellan Lutz), Jasper (Jackson Rathbone), Alice (Ashley Greene), Rosalie (Nikki Reed), Carlisle (Peter Facinelli) »
