"Today" celebrated some very special moments on Dec. 30. First up, the show celebrated Matt Lauer's 56th birthday with a couple special guests.
Former co-anchor Meredith Viera (who's birthday is also on Dec. 30) called in to the morning show to wish Lauer a happy birthday. Savannah Guthrie, currently on vacation, also left a message for her costar, while Al Roker presented Lauer (via Carson Daly) with a Just For Men kit for the birthday boy's beard.
But the birthday wasn't the only special occasion on "Today." Bryant Gumbel and Jane Pauley helped co-anchor the show while Guthrie and Natalie Morales are off. Coincidentally, Pauley's twins Ross and Rickie also were born on Dec. 30, so they made their TV debut presenting Lauer with his cake.
Is this one of your favorite ways Lauer celebrated his birthday on "Today"? »
Former Today anchors Jane Pauley and Bryant Gumbel returned to their former morning show Monday, joining Matt Lauer as co-hosts. "I feel like I should have come to work in a Delorean today," Lauer said of his blast from the past on Monday's show. The two former anchors, who hosted Today together from 1982 to 1989, filled in for Natalie Morales and Savannah Guthrie, who were off Monday. Al Roker was reporting from the site of the Tournament of Roses Parade in Pasadena. Photos: NBC's 'Today' Celebrates 60th Anniversary From 7-9 a.m., Pauley, Gumbel and Lauer

The Today Show has apologized for a segment about the imposter sign language interpreter at the Nelson Mandela memorial. While discussing the incident, a producer appeared miming his own fake sign language but was quickly shut down by hosts Natalie Morales and Al Roker.
Guy Pearce. Sigh.
Julie Chen threw some shade in the direction of The View during an interview with Howard Stern and a follow-up interview with Extra. “The show has lost its way is my feeling because they don’t really talk about politics anymore and when they do, no one is really trying to hear what Jenny (McCarthy) is saying.” Every time I’ve tried to watch The View this season, the show has just been a mess. The compelling moments happen by accident.

The most wonderful time of the year kicked off with a fluorish in New York City tonight. Mariah Carey, Jewel, Leona Lewis, Mary J. Blige and the Goo Goo Dolls helped get the yuletide party started at the annual lighting of the Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree, one of the Big Apple's most beloved traditions. Today hosts Matt Lauer, Savannah Guthrie, Al Roker and Natalie Morales cohosted the accompanying NBC special, Christmas at Rockefeller Center. They dedicated the broadcast to Today audio and lighting technician Jim Lovell, who was one of four people killed Sunday when a commuter train derailed in the Bronx. But while the tunes were merry and the celebrity wattage high, the real star of »

Ariana Grande, 20, is owning it this holiday season. First “The Way” singer dazzled the frozen Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade crowd with her rendition of “Last Christmas,” then she stunned at the Jingle Ball in Dallas on Dec. 2. But we think her performance at the 81st annual Rockefeller tree lighting was her best outing yet!

The annual Christmas Tree Lighting at Rockefeller Center in NYC is almost upon us; the television special will air Wednesday, Dec. 4 on NBC.
The Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree arrived at 30 Rock in mid November, where it will remain until Jan. 7. The tree measures at least 65 feet in height with a 35-feet diameter and is traditionally a Norway Spruce. Trees are donated every year to the Rockefeller Center to be decorated and displayed as a massive holiday season tourist attraction.
Once the holiday season is over, the tree will be donated to Habitat for Humanity, a tradition that began in 2007 when the lumber was used to rebuild homes destroyed by Hurricane Katrina. The lumber from the tree will then be used to help build a home for those in need.
“We are thrilled that lumber for the tree will once again be used to build homes with Habitat partner families…During »

Kingston first appeared on the superhero drama during late Season 1, when Dinah returned to Starling City to make amends with her daughter Laurel and husband Quentin as well as posit the theory that their other daughter, Sara, was in fact alive. If you're anything like us, one of the highlights of Thanksgiving (in addition to food and football) is the annual Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. "Today" is here Monday (Nov. 25) with a sneak peek.
Anchor Tamron Hall "volunteers" to strap on a "balloon head" in the "Today Show" plaza, turning her into a giant, inflatable pilgrim. She looks ... nervous, hahaha. And then she tries to walk, which is a bit of a challenge.
Meanwhile, anchor Natalie Morales gets the easy job -- she's atop a giant rocking horse that is the oldest element in the entire parade. It's been around for 60 years, wow. The Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade kicks off at 9 a.m. Et on CBS and 10 a.m. Et on NBC Thursday, Nov. 25. »
The original film netted almost half a billion dollars for Blue Sky Studios two years ago, and the sequel will be the first for them outside of their hugely successful Ice Age franchise, cementing their status as one of the leading animation houses in the industry.
The first full-length trailer landed early last month, and now Fox and Blue Sky Studios have launched a new teaser poster, with Blu and Jewel taking centre stage, looking appropriately parental, about to venture into the Amazon with their three children.

Even after all of her concerts and nine Grammy Awards, Blige says she still gets stage fright, particularly before an event like this.
This performance will be live, she says. And singing popular Christmas songs, which everyone knows, just increases the anxiety.
"Because especially with Christmas songs and national anthems, everyone in the world knows these songs," Blige says. "And you just want to get them right; not mess up the words to the national anthem. And you don't want to overdo or over sing a Christmas song that everyone knows."
Blige's 11th album, "A Mary Christmas," dropped last month. As of mid-November, she »
Kathie Lee Gifford may love her hosting gig on the fourth hour of “Today” these days, but before she was on the show, she thought it was “crap.” Gifford welcomed her “Today” co-host Hoda Kotb onto her new podcast and the two spoke about how Gifford was lured into hosting “Today”‘s 10 a.m. hour in 2008, a year after the show’s expansion. “It was called ‘Bore Snore,’” Kotb said of the show’s pre-Gifford era. “It was called ‘Crap,’” Gifford added. The bewitching hour must be upon us! With October in full swing and Halloween fast approaching, there's never been a better time to embrace the spooky spirit of the season, and a marketing company behind the upcoming remake of Carrie did just that. Building a fake wall and employing a stuntman, viral video makers Thinkmodo treated customers at an N.Y.C. coffee shop to a shocking display of one woman's telekinesis. While the stunt was definitely startling, it's not the first to have us shaking (sometimes from laughter) in our boots. Try watching these without getting goosebumps - and »

The Today Show is remembering its biggest fan, Linny Boyette. The hosts paid tribute Monday to the late super-fan, who for nearly 20 years was on hand in the Rockefeller Center plaza to watch the show in person. Matt Lauer said he was "part of the show," and Al Roker called him "a good luck charm." "We actually get more viewer mail about Linny than any of our on-air team," said Natalie Morales. "And we understand because we love Linny too and we're certainly going to miss him." Boyette was a familiar face to viewers as the cameras panned the throng »
