DVD Review - Lovely Molly (2011)

Lovely Molly, 2011.

Directed by Eduardo Sanchez.

Starring Gretchen Lodge, Johnny Lewis, Alexandra Holden, Ken Arnold and Lauren Lakis.

Synopsis:

Newlywed Molly moves into her deceased father's house in the countryside, where painful memories begin to haunt her.

The Blair Witch Project. The film that started it all. Apparently. Since its colossal and unprecedented success back in 1999, Blair Witch has been the catalyst for a new generation of horror movies: the found footage movie. Numerous pretenders to the crown have appeared in the decade since, with only a handful (Paranormal Activity, The Last Exorcism, even Cloverfield) being any good. As with many horror sub-genres though, saturation is ripe, and over recent times the fad has become somewhat annoying and unimaginative. What happened to the sheer terror of horror of the 70s and early 80s, when little girls elevated above their beds, and hotels used to cough up blood?

"Revolution" and Taking a Bold First Step Forward: A Television Review ("Pilot")

Creator: Eric Kripke. Directors : Steve Boyum and Jon Favreau. Producer: J. J. Abrams. Cast: Jd Pardo, Zak Orth, Maria Howell, David Lyons, Daniella Alonso, Shane Callahan, Ken Arnold, Sharika Blockett, Billy Burke, Michael Duisenberg, Giancarlo Esposito, and Aaron Farb. The premiere episode of "Revolution" was released this week. The episode is slated to rebroadcast September 17th and this sci-fi series has taken a bold first step with this premiere episode. Although bloodless, "Revolution" captures a post-apocalyptic landscape in an action packed fashion. Sci-fi and thriller fans will want to watch out for this series as the pilot was excellent. In the pilot, characters, settings and the main plot were developed. This episode focused on the Madison family. A patriarch is killed and his daughter is sent to muster his brother. The brother now lives in Chicago, which is a haven for refugees and militia. A family reunion takes place,

Exclusive Clip from Lovely Molly

  • DailyDead
Lovely Molly will be released to Blu-ray/DVD tomorrow and we’ve been given an exclusive clip to share with our readers. This particular clip shows a segment from the film where Molly is investigating noises in her house. It includes commentary from director Eduardo Sánchez and co-writer Jamie Nash, who talk about how working inside of a claustrophobic house helped get everyone into the right mood.

“When newlywed Molly Reynolds returns to her long-abandoned family home, remainders of a nightmarish childhood begin seeping into her new life. A malevolent force, whether her own huanted past or some supernatural ‘thing,’ tirelessly seeks to overwhelm her. Alone and isolated in a centuries-old house, she soon begins an inexorable descent into depravity. Somewhere in the house, in that terrible space between psychosis and possession, lies an evil that will pull Molly and all those around her into darkness and death.”

Facing Terror with Lovely Molly: A Movie Review

Director: Eduardo Sánchez. Writers: Jamie Nash and Eduardo Sánchez. Cast: Alexandra Holden, Johnny Lewis, Gretchen Lodge, Ken Arnold, and Lauren Lakis. Lovely Molly is a film from director Eduardo Sánchez. Sánchez might be best known for his work on the Blair Witch Project (1999). In his latest, he sticks with horror and perhaps Sánchez further perfects his art with Lovely Molly. After all, this is a truly unsettling picture with actress Gretchen Lodge playing an often tormented Molly. This film's many horrifying scenes might make viewers question the source of Molly's increasingly violent actions. This reviewer believes the events are caused by three elements: a supernatural site (haunted house), abuse and possession. These three elements come together like a whirlwind of terror in the film's story. That terror comes from the writing team of Jamie Nash and Sánchez. These two have written a horrifying tale, which puts Molly up against a demonic force.

Director: Eduardo Sanchez

Running Time: 99 minutes

Certificate: 15

Synopsis: Newlywed Molly moves into her deceased father’s house in the countryside, where painful memories soon begin to haunt her.

Lovely Molly is the brainchild of Eduardo Sanchez, part of the driving force behind cult-favourite The Blair Witch Project. On this occasion, he directs and has co-written with Jamie Nash in this truly disturbing new take on the haunted house narrative.

The star of proceedings is Gretchen Lodge, who plays Molly Reynolds, who has recently got married. For some unbeknown reason, she has returned to her old family dwelling with her new husband Tim (Johnny Lewis) to set up home. But this isn’t any old house, oh no, it has been long abandoned after the death of both her parents there many years before, plus – we’re led to believe – Molly was
