Well… this happened without much fanfare…
Recall November’s news that online retailer, Amazon.com, announced its plans to radicalize the movie business with a new web-based film studio called Amazon Studios, aimed specifically at indie filmmakers. In short, directors and screenwriters around the world were asked to submit scripts to win money and get their films made.
The news was initially met with enthusiasm, that is, until people took the time to read all the fine print. Whatever eagerness there was at first, was quickly quelled, when the terms (especially the financial) of the agreement filmmakers would have to sign with the new studio, were disseminated.
Did any Shadow And Act readers submit?
When I say “this happened without much fanfare…” I’m referring to the announcement by Amazon Studios just 2 days ago, introducing its first pair of signees: Two $20,000 Best Script awards to Marty Weiss of Los Angeles...
