Six: Season Two Update Plus, Are There Too Many Military Dramas on TV?

The second season of the Six TV show is coming to History in the new year. In advance of season two, History's Executive Vice President for Programming, Eli Leher, has given a little update. Reportedly, season two is just finishing production, and the cable network is looking forward to "growing" the scripted series. Lehrer also addressed the uptick in military dramas, that followed the Six TV series premiere. The new sports drama “Tri” takes a long, hard look at just what it takes to complete a triathlon, and how far someone can push themselves to achieve. The film follows Natalie (Jensen Jacobs), an ultrasound tech with a history of not finishing things, who is inspired by a cancer patient to sign up for a triathlon. She’s soon introduced to the strange (and aerodynamic) world of triathletes and meets a bevy of colorful characters as she trains for the Nations Triathlon. With the support of her new teammates, she discovers just how far she’s willing to go. Afm: Buffalo 8 Acquires Alta Entertainment

Matthew Helderman’s Buffalo 8 Productions is acquiring Steven AdamsAlta Entertainment for an undisclosed price to establish a newly formed management division, Variety has learned exclusively.

The deal is aimed at bulking up Buffalo 8 Productions as the American Film Market, which launches Nov. 4, draws near.

“We’ve already started working together on several projects for Afm,” Helderman said. “This deal gives us more depth in what we offer.”

Helderman founded Buffalo 8 at the age of 21 to oversee the production of his first feature film, “The Alumni Chapter.” The company has a library of 35 movies, a roster of commercial directors and a post-production facility. In 2013, Helderman founded Bondit, which has financed over 100 films.

It’s also a producer on Ira Sachs’ “Thank You for Being Honest,” starring Greg Kinnear, and heist comedy “The Brits Are Coming,” starring Sofia Vergara, Uma Thurman, Alice Eve, Stephen Fry and Tim Roth.

The filmmaker also held an impromptu Q&A session, where he shared new details about this superhero adventure, starring Miles Teller, Michael B. Jordan and Kate Mara. I thought this was a re-dux of Buried but it actually looks much better. The viewer will be surprised at the amount and varying tricks up the kidnapper’s sleeve.
