Get the kleenex for this one, because A Dog’s Purpose promises to be the last act of Marley & Me played on loop, as we follow our canine protagonist Bailey (voiced by Olaf himself, Josh Gad) as he travels through the years, in a variety of four legged vessels, discovering his purpose in life in relation to his various human owners (I can’t help but refer to it as Quantum Leap with dogs). What is no doubt going to be an emotionally trying experience for all dog lovers, also promises to be a funny and heart warming tale of loyalty and friendship that has the potential to melt the heart of even the most cynical amongst you. Everybody loves a good tearjerker now and then, right? Well, maybe not everyone, but for those of you that do: the trailer for A Dog’s Purpose is here, and it had us tearing up just watching it.

In the film (which is based on the novel by W. Bruce Cameron), Josh Gad provides the voice for a spirit that reincarnates in the bodies of multiple different dogs, living out multiple dog lives. He goes from a golden retriever living in the country, to a German shepherd being trained for a police K9 unit, to a corgi living in the city, to a big old mutt that finds things coming full circle.

Dan Stevens is sporting a new mane for the live-action adaptation of Disney's Beauty and the Beast - and he's not even dressed as his cursed self. Co-producer Jack Morrissey posted the photo on his Facebook page Friday, noting that the sneak peek comes "one year to the day after the completion of principal photography." He adds, "Here is your very first look at Dan Stevens as the Prince/Beast." Morrissey didn't stop with the teasers there. »

Beauty and the Beast First Look at Cogsworth, Lumiere and Gaston

26 August 2016 3:13 PM, PDT | MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news »

This spring, Disney is bringing Beauty and the Beast back to the big screen like never before in an all-new live action retelling of the classic fairy tale. While we did get a teaser trailer earlier in the year, it was a true tease in every sense of the word, and it showed us very little from the actual movie. Today, we have a couple of exciting new images. And they show off some of the characters that are being brought back to life.

It's not clear when Disney will drop another trailer for Beauty and the Beast, which stars Emma Watson as the iconic Belle and Dan Stevens as the titular monster at the heart of this heartwarming yarn. The original animated classic that was released in theaters way back in 1991 is getting a brand new 25th Anniversary Blu-ray edition on September 19. And it will include a never-before-seen sneak preview of the live-action movie. »

A Dog’s Purpose Rings In National Dog Day With Refreshing First Trailer

26 August 2016 2:17 PM, PDT | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

You’ve heard the saying claiming cats have nine lives, but what about their docile companions? Introducing us to an uplifting story of canine reincarnation, the first trailer for A Dog’s Purpose has scurried online just in time for National Dog Day.

The pic, one lifted from W. Bruce Cameron’s best-seller, hails from director Lasse Hallström (What’s Eating Gilbert Grape, The Cider House Rules). As the trailer above reveals, Josh Gad lends his vocal chords to the central canine, who experiences life through a variety of wildly different vignettes – and breeds – ranging from a cutesy pup to a trained German Shepherd. The story then becomes about Gad’s interaction with each new owner, a pitch that is about as crowd-pleasing as they come.

Imagine the premise of Todd Solondz’s indie pic Wiener-Dog, only spreading its heartfelt story across multiple eras, beginning with the 1940s. Outside of Gad’s multi-faceted role, »

Coming Distractions: The trailer for A Dog’s Purpose gets real heavy, real fast

26 August 2016 2:15 PM, PDT | avclub.com | See recent The AV Club news »

It’s National Dog Day today. And hey, what better way to celebrate man’s best friend than with a trailer for a movie that’ll let you watch the single worst part of the joyful ritual of dog ownership not just once, but repeatedly? That’s the premise of A Dog’s Purpose, the new Dennis Quaid film that tracks the lives, deaths, and reincarnations of a single Josh Gad-voiced pooch as he wanders around the earth in various bodies that will, inevitably, fail far faster than those of the humans who love them.

You can tell from the tone of the trailer that everybody involved—including What’s Eating Gilbert Grape director Lasse Hallström—thinks this is heart-warming, and not incredibly, depressingly grim. And hey, maybe they’re right: more than enough people bought the W. Bruce Cameron novel it’s based on to justify A Dog »

"If I can get you licking and loving, I have my purpose." Aw, this looks adorable. Universal has debuted a trailer for the movie called A Dog's Purpose, directed by Swedish filmmaker Lasse Hallström (who also made the movie Hachi: A Dog's Tale ). The family film also stars Dennis Quaid, Peggy Lipton, Britt Robertson, K.J. Apa, Juilet Rylance, Luke Kirby, John Ortiz and Pooch Hall. There's more than one dog and they all look so friendly. Beauty And The Beast Photos Unveil Cogsworth, Lumiere And Dan Stevens’ Beast

Despite the barnstorming success of its forebear, fantasy sequel Alice Through the Looking Glass failed to impress across critical and commercial circles, amassing only $294 million where its predecessor broke into Hollywood’s exclusive billion-dollar club six years ago.

Disney will be hoping James Bobin’s follow-up was simply a minor blip, though, as it gears up for the release of Beauty and the Beast early next year. Placing Emma Watson and Dan Stevens in the central roles, the House of Mouse has enveloped its leading duo with an all-star cast, and today co-producer Jack Morrissey has pulled back the curtain on our first look at Cogsworth (Ian McKellen) and Lumiere (Ewan McGregor). There’s a sneak peek at Dan Stevens’ Beast, too.

When it comes to that animated clock and candelabra, Morrissey cautioned that “these designs are close but may not be final,” but those images »

'A Dog's Purpose' is to be adorable!

Clip It: Each day, Jon Davis looks at the world of trailers, featurettes, and clips and puts it all in perspective. I almost had to remove myself from the A Dog's Purpose trailer because the trailer starts with a perfect boy and dog relationship (as told to us by Josh Gad, the voice of the dog) and then the dog gets old and passes away. And I'm thinking, don't do this to me! First of all, my beloved little buddy Wally passed away only a few weeks ago and I'm still missing him. Second of all, I don't like seeing dogs dying. You're just reminding me that these creatures don't have the lifespan that we all want them to, and now I'm going to turn into a puddle of goo from all the sadness. But. But! In this story, the dog is reincarnated. And so he finds a new owner, »
