7 hours ago | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

Outside of the lucrative Resident Evil franchise – which, incidentally, is being readied for its swan song in early 2017 with The Final Chapter – it’s not often we bring you news of a video game movie earning a sequel.

Things aren’t looking too promising for Legendary’s Warcraft, for instance, but it seems Finnish giant Rovio and Sony Pictures have hatched early plans for a follow-up to the Angry Birds movie. That’s according to Rovio CEO Kati Levoranta, who revealed to VentureBeat that the company has already started mapping out plans for a sequel, though it appears things are still in the nascent stages of development.

“We currently have several exciting new games and other projects in development, including new IP, and we have started planning the sequel to The Angry Birds Movie. With the excellent performance of our games portfolio and the fantastic movie, the Angry Birds brand »

Earlier today it was reported that one of the original Star Wars actors has passed away. Kenny Baker, who was best known as the man inside R2-D2, succumbed to a lengthy illness at the age of 83. Since news of his death was announced by his niece Abigail Shield, many stars and filmmakers from the Star Wars universe have come forward to remember the man under the dome.

Mark Hamill was the first from the Star Wars camp to respond. The actor appeared in three movies with Kenny Baker, including the original 1977 Star Wars: A New Hope, 1980's Empire Strikes Back and 1983's Return of the Jedi. Hamill and Baker spent a lot of time together on set, especially during the Empire production. It was Luke Skywalker and R2-D2 who traveled alone to the planet of Dagobah to meet Master Jedi Yoda. And throughout the original trilogy, R2 was often seen as Luke's loyal companion. »

Josh Gad on the 2016 Presidential Election: ‘I’m Terrified’

26 July 2016 5:03 PM, PDT | Variety - Film News | See recent Variety - Film News news »

Comedic actor Josh Gad—best known for playing the voice of Olaf in Disney’s “Frozen”—is among the Hollywood stars at this week’s Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia. He spoke to Variety about his thoughts on the election and why he’s supporting Hillary Clinton.

Josh Gad: What am I thinking right now? I’m thinking a lot of thoughts that begin with “I’m” and end with “terrified.” I think that this election started off as a reality show and that set the tone for what we’re seeing now. It starts to get away from substance and starts becoming more about, “Oh wow, I can’t believe that just happened.” That worries me. I’m a father of two little kids. I »

Beauty And The Beast Poster Teases An Enchanting Magic

Two months on from the grand trailer unveiling, Disney has pulled back the curtain on the icy first poster for Bill Condon’s (The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn) live-action spin on Beauty and the Beast.

Encased in beautiful and, crucially, protective glass, it is the Enchanted Rose that is placed front and center in today’s new teaser, which will prove instrumental in the fantastic journey of Belle.

For Disney’s high-profile reimagining – the latest to tumble off an accelerated conveyor belt that has produced Alice Through the Looking Glass, Cinderella and Jon Favreau’s Jungle Book, to name but a few – Emma Watson will play beauty to Dan Stevens’ beast, fostering a heartwarming story as timeline as any Disney classic as Watson’s elegant lead discovers the “kind heart and soul of the true Prince within.”
