‘Baywatch’ Review: The Rock and Zac Efron Deliver A Splashy Summer Hit Full of Dick Jokes

23 May 2017 12:01 AM, PDT | Indiewire | See recent Indiewire news »

You have to hand it to Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson: The man knows how to have a good time. Through an elaborate fireworks display used to blow off a human foot, or an “American Ninja Warrior”-style standoff with a veiny Zac Efron (he wins), the Rock commands a movie screen with a tranquil sheen that’s as smooth and shiny as the skin on his head. Taking over for David Hasselhoff as lifeguard Mitch Buchannon, he is comfortable commandeering jet-skis, diving into ocean fires, and bulldozing bad guys without breaking a sweat.

Rebooted and remade, TV-to feature projects can range from the funny “21 Jump Street” to the offensively unfunny “Chips.” With its strong ensemble, quick pace, and equal opportunity eye candy, “Baywatch” tips the scales heavily toward the former. If it weren’t »

The Batman: Josh Gad Opens Up About Those Weird Penguin Tweets

15 May 2017 4:18 PM, PDT | LRMonline.com | See recent LRM Online news »

Josh Gad caused a stir among comic book fans earlier this month when he tweeted out a picture of the famous Batman villain, The Penguin. This led to wide speculation by fans that Gad had possibly been cast in the role.

Gad was asked about the tweets at last week’s MTV Movie and TV Awards Show. The actor played coy when questioned about the tweets saying:

"Just having some fun. Just having some fun. That’s it. Really, I promise. The internet goes wild, and I’m just having some fun. Just putting some things out there."

When asked whether or not he'd actually be open to playing the role, he said:

"I would absolutely be open to playing Penguin in a Batman movie.[...]It's just...we'll see. It's just we'll see. Just putting it out in the ether.”

Hollywood is still reeling from the sudden death of Emmy-winning actor Powers Boothe, who died in his sleep Sunday morning. He was 68.

Beau Bridges first broke the sad news on Twitter over the weekend, and Boothe’s celebrity peers are still using social media to remember the “Deadwood,” “24,” and “Sin City” star. Boothe’s “Nashville” cast seemed to take the news hardest as a whole, seeing as he portrayed main character Rayna Jaymes’ father for the first two seasons of the show. Connie Britton, Sam Palladio, and Clare Bowen each honored their former co-star with Twitter tributes.

Britton said she was “so grateful to work with him.”

Josh Gad was “just having some fun” with the Penguin tweet

14 May 2017 1:10 AM, PDT | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

Perhaps unsurprisingly, it turns out Josh Gad has not been secretly cast as the DC Extended Universe’s Penguin — at least not yet.

Last week, the Beauty and the Beast star sent the rumour mill spinning and DC fans into a frenzy when he cryptically tweeted out a picture of the famous Batman villain, indicating that he would be playing or was in the running for the role in 2018’s The Batman. However, despite Gad’s slight resemblance to Oswald Cobblepot and similar comedic personality, the actor recently revealed that he was “just having some fun.”

When asked by MTV’s Josh Horowitz at the MTV Movie & TV Awards if his posting of the picture had any hidden meaning, Gad coyly responded, “Just having some fun… Really. I promise. There’s no ‘there’ there. You know what? The internet just goes wild — I’m just having some fun. Just putting things out there. »

Josh Gad Was Just “Having Some Fun” With Those Penguin Tweets

13 May 2017 1:12 PM, PDT | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

Ah, actors. Always trying to troll their fans and elicit reactions and responses, just to see where things might go. This appears to be the case once again when it comes to Josh Gad’s recent Tweets teasing a role as classic Batman villain the Penguin.

It all started a few weeks back when the Frozen star posted a photo of the character on his Twitter feed seemingly out of nowhere. Following that, he dropped a few more hints that had some people thinking he may be involved with The Batman, or perhaps another Dceu project.

As it turns out, however, there was nothing to it. Gad, whose career is definitely on the up and up right now, told MTV in an interview that it was all just for fun and the Tweets didn’t mean anything. Whether he’s being honest or not is up to you to decide, »

Newswire: Josh Gad and Chloë Grace Moretz will hit up the Party Of The Century

11 May 2017 8:13 AM, PDT | avclub.com | See recent The AV Club news »

Taking a break from playing Disney sidekicks, Josh Gad will add his interpretation of Truman Capote to the cinematic canon in the upcoming film Party Of The Century, about the author’s famous Black And White Ball. According to a release, the story is not entirely centered on Capote—instead, it focuses on the romance between a fictional starlet played by Chloë Grace Moretz and Jack O’Connell’s elevator operator. So it’s more in the vein of a Me And Orson Welles or My Week With Marilyn-type project about people who have brushes with legends.

The movie comes from Robert Pulcini and Shari Springer Berman, who wrote and directed The Nanny Diaries. One presumes they are now tasked with finding celebs to cameo as the other famous faces at the event. Who’s going to play Warhol this time?
