The Hollywood Reporter says the story follows a girl (Heard) who is admitted to a psychiatric ward, meets other girls there with distinct personalities and discovers a mysterious girl haunting the halls at night. John Carpenter's The Ward Starts Shooting Next Month!

After several years of false starts on various projects, it looks like John Carpenter will finally get back behind the camera next month to shoot his new flick The Ward. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Danielle Panabaker (Friday The 13th) will star opposite Amber Heard & Mamie Gummer in the "psychological horror thriller".

According to their article, "The story follows a girl (Heard) who is admitted to a psychiatric ward, meets other girls there with distinct personalities and discovers a mysterious girl haunting the halls at night. Panabaker plays a patient in the institution, a snobbish girl who flirts with orderlies and faces electroshock therapy."

Michael and Shawn Rasmussen wrote the script, with revisions by Jim Agnew and Sean Keller (the duo behind Dario Argento's latest Giallo with Adrian Brody)!

Also of note is that the film is being produced by Echo Lake Entertainment and A Bigger Boat, Peter Block

Will Friday The 13th 2 Take Place In The Winter?

While Friday The 13th may officially be out on DVD this week, Ryan Rotten over at Shock Till You Drop decided to check in with producer Brad Fuller on the status of the sequel, currently being penned by returning writers Damian Shannon & Mark Swift. "If we're going to do another Friday the 13th we want to present something audiences haven't seen before and one of the things they haven't seen before is Jason in the snow. We just want to bring things they haven't seen before, but that doesn't mean the [entire] movie will not be set in the snow."

Despite the success of the movie on opening weekend, a sequel has still not officially been green-lit, but if they were to go into production shortly, Fuller admits they're aiming for a August 13th, 2010 release date.

Also of note in the article is Fuller's comments on how he felt they let

Danielle Panabaker books 'The Ward'

Danielle Panabaker is ready to check into John Carpenter's "The Ward" for Echo Lake Entertainment, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

Amber Heard ("Remember the Daze") is on-board as a patient on a psychiatric ward who is terrorized by a mysterious appearance. Panabaker plays a snobbish patient who faces electroshock therapy.

Also starring in the psychological thriller is Mamie Gummer, whose credits include "Taking Woodstock," "Stop-Loss" and "The Hoax."

Carpenter hasn't directed anything major since 2001's "Ghosts of Mars." He's currently gearing up to helm "Riot" with Nicholas Cage in the lead role.

As for Panabaker, she was last seen in the "Friday the 13th" remake. Other credits include "Shark," "Mr. Brooks" and the upcoming "The Crazies" remake.

Panabaker will play the slutty, snob of the nut house, who flirts with the orderlies and faces electroshock therapy. The Ward (which we first mentioned here) marks a return to horror for director John Carpenter (Halloween, The Thing).
