'Supernatural' stars Jared Padalecki & Jensen Ackles discuss the 200th episode milestone

11 November 2014 10:45 AM, PST | Hitfix | See recent Hitfix news »

Vancouver, BC. It's time to bring out the big guns. Last month, I was on a "Supernatural" 200th episode red carpet in Vancouver.  So far this week, I've posted the majority of the interviews. First I posted my red carpet Q&As with series creator Eric Kripke, plus long-time Ep Robert Singer and slight-less-tenured Ep Adam Glass. Then I posted my Q&As with supporting favorites Misha Collins, Felicia Day, Mark Sheppard and Genevieve Padalecki. But now, with Tuesday (November 11) night's 200th episode just hours away, it's time to post my interviews with Sam & Dean Winchester themselves. Because of all of their photo responsibilities and their various commitments at the party, I got Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki at the very end of the red carpet time and Jared in particular was only able to spare a couple minutes. But they're still fun, if brief, interviews. They're also the only »

'Supernatural' 200th episode reflections from Misha Collins, Felicia Day and more

10 November 2014 9:30 PM, PST | Hitfix | See recent Hitfix news »

Vancouver, BC. To recap, back in October I worked the red carpet at a special 200th episode gala in Vancouver for The CW's "Supernatural." Last night, I posted my red carpet Q&As with series creator Eric Kripke, plus long-time Ep Robert Singer and slight-less-tenured Ep Adam Glass. Now it's time for my interviews with the assortment of beloved "Supernatural" supporting players who attended the 200th episode party, actors who may not have been around for the duration of the show, but have made their marks in different ways. That certainly includes Misha Collins, whose Castiel didn't arrive until the fourth "Supernatural" season, but has played a key role in the move to shift the drama from its monster-of-the-week format to the higher Heaven-and-Hell stakes that have characterized its later years.  Showing up a season later was Crossroads demon Crowley, played by Mark Sheppard. Thanks to "Supernatural," "Doctor Who," "Battlestar Galactica" and "The X Files, »

'Supernatural' creator Eric Kripke and producers celebrate 200 episodes

9 November 2014 9:30 PM, PST | Hitfix | See recent Hitfix news »

Vancouver, BC. Three weeks ago, I had a position on the 200th Episode Gala red carpet for The CW's "Supernatural," a little-show-that-could that has gone from being seemingly near cancellation a few years ago to taking a regular place as one of the network's steadiest hits.  Over the course of nearly two hours of red carpet time, I had swift and efficient conversations with many of the people who make the '67 Impala that is "Supernatural" hum and purr. I talked with stars Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles, who have anchored "Supernatural" from the beginning, but also with co-stars including fan favorites Misha Collins and Mark Sheppard and Internet favorite Felicia Day, plus a trio of writers and producers. With the 200th "Supernatural" episode airing on Tuesday (November 11), I'll be running those quick Q&As in three parts, starting this this series of red carpet chats with a slew »

Ask Ausiello: Spoilers on Grey's, Arrow, Castle, White Collar, Good Wife, Grimm, Elementary, Nashville and More

Question: Is Grey’s Anatomy planning a big cliffhanger for the winter finale, similar to last December’s Jackson/April wedding brouhaha? —Jared

Ausiello: I hear the Nov. 20 episode will end with a cliffhanger, but whether or not it’s on par with the climax in the 2013 fall finale is probably subjective. (For example, Mer/Der fans will likely deem this year’s cliffhanger a bigger deal than last year’s.) Bonus Scoop: It was incorrect of me »

Castle season 7 episodes 4 & 5 review: Child's Play & Meme Is Murder

3 November 2014 1:43 AM, PST | Den of Geek | See recent Den of Geek news »

Consistency isn't necessarily Castle's strong suit, as its previous two episodes prove...

This review contains spoilers.

7.4 Child's Play & 7.5 Meme Is Murder

Of all the adjectives I can think of that might be used to describe a television series, the one I would most shy away from with Castle is “consistent.” The show is fun—most of the time. Formulaic—sometimes. Inventive—on occasion. Inspired—once in a while. But unfortunately, good or bad, it’s none of these things consistently.

Last week’s Child’s Play and this week’s Meme Is Murder are effective examples of this.

In Child’s Play, Beckett and Castle investigate the death of the driver of an old-fashioned ice-cream truck. Found in the last place one would try to sell frozen treats to the little ones, the truck also yields a field-trip permission slip which leads the duo to a classroom of second graders. »

Supernatural Photos Preview Kate the Werewolf’s Return

27 October 2014 1:43 PM, PDT | | See recent news »

It’s pretty exciting when a familiar face is scheduled to return to Supernatural, mainly because there’s really not that many familiar faces still around for the Winchesters to welcome back into their lives, as most of their friends, aside from Castiel, Sheriff Mills, and Felicia Day’s Charlie, and all of their family are pretty much dead. In tomorrow night’s episode of Supernatural, entitled “Paper Moon,” we will see the return of a character that I doubt many viewers would consider a fan favorite, but one that they should definitely remember. I’m talking, of course, about Kate the werewolf, who was first and last seen in the Season 8 found footage episode “Bitten.” In the episode, Sam and Dean decide to not go after Kate and let her live, after she promises to not hurt any humans and only feed on animals. It’s one of the rare instances in the show… »

13 times Neil Patrick Harris proved he is the ultimate Oscars host

After hosting the Emmys twice, the Tonys four times, the Spike Video Game Awards, Saturday Night Live and even the Disney Parks Christmas Parade, Neil Patrick Harris has landed the 2015 Oscars gig.

To mark the thespian's appointment, here are a collection of career highlights which show why Nph is the perfect Academy Awards host.

1. Showstopping opening numbers

A Neil Patrick Harris-hosted show wouldn't be complete without several large scale musical numbers, but the opening piece is the biggest spectacle. When Nph is hosting a show, his performances are often the most memorable moments the next day.

He finds a perfect blend of mickey-taking and adoration about the subjects he is singing about, and his timing is impeccable. If the Academy wants someone who is safe, yet cheeky, Nph is perfect.

2. Playing the ultimate diva

If you want an example of flamboyant stage presence, just watch him in Hedwig and the Angry Inch, »

SoftBank, the Japanese telecommunications conglomerate that recently flirted with buying Jeffrey Katzenberg’s DreamWorks Animation Studios, appears to have found another monster opportunity in Hollywood. Sources confirm that the company is in talks to acquire a stake in Thomas Tull’s Legendary Entertainment.

The deal would involve a sizable investment, but would not be for a majority share in the company, according to an individual with knowledge of the discussions.

The source said that the Legendary talks, first reported by the Hollywood Reporter, have been ongoing for weeks and were not a result of any potential fallout between SoftBank and Dwa.
