The dust has settled from Comic-Con 2016, and while Warner Bros. and Marvel’s film divisions wowed the crowd with sneak peeks at the likes of “Wonder Woman,” “Justice League,” “Thor: Ragnarok” and “Spider-Man: Homecoming,” the weekend was dominated by TV, with a cavalcade of shows dropping major news (like announcing the final seasons of “Teen Wolf,” “The Vampire Diaries” and “Bates Motel”) and epic trailers. Variety was on the ground in San Diego to tally up the biggest hits and most disappointing misses from the convention.

Hit: “The Walking Dead

Fans may have been outraged by the cliffhanger ending that closed Season 6 — which saw Jeffrey Dean Morgan’s Negan beat one of the show’s main characters to death, but chose to hide who the victim was — but that didn’t stop the show from receiving an ecstatic response at Comic-Con. Moderator Chris Hardwick attempted to do some damage control over the criticisms of the finale, but »

Marvel's Daredevil: Netflix renews for season 3

Den Of Geek Jul 22, 2016

It might take a while, but Marvel's Daredevil season 3 will definitely happen on Netflix...

Marvel's Daredevil season 2 was met with tremendous acclaim by fans, not least because Jon Bernthal's The Punisher and Elodie Yung's Elektra really pushed Charlie Cox's Matt Murdock out of his comfort zone.

The big question was when (not so much if) we'll get to see Daredevil season 3. After the first season, it took a week or two for the announcement that the second season was confirmed. Things took a little longer this time.

The news was confirmed at San Diego Comic-Con during the Luke Cage panel. Check out the teaser...

Samuel Brace with the four best TV shows of 2016 so far…

2016 has been… an interesting year for TV so far.  Part wonderful, part steaming pile of crap, 2016 has signified the incipient collapse of TV’s golden age. There of course has been the usual mix of good and bad, the same as every year, but many of the shows which should have, or could have been good, simply were not, leaving a taste of disappointment in ones mouth, creating a certain pessimism about televisions future. But this isn’t about those shows. We are here today to talk about the best of what 2016 has had to offer in its first half. There have been some truly sublime seasons of television, spanning across many genres. But what are the four best? Well, sit down and let me tell you.

Jon Bernthal Offers An Update On The Punisher; Promises To Do Frank Castle's Story Justice

27 June 2016 12:03 PM, PDT | ComicBookMovie.com | See recent ComicBookMovie news »

Deadline has a very interesting chat up with Jon Bernthal about his take on The Punisher, a character who will soon have his own spinoff series on Netflix. When exactly that will happen is currently unclear, especially as the online streaming service seemingly intends to air only two of these Marvel shows a year. However, it's on the way, and the actor is excited to pick up with Frank Castle's story again.  "I’m tremendously excited about it," he tells the trade when asked about where things currently stand with the spinoff series announced earlier this year. "I look at it as a real joy and a real responsibility and a real honor to play Frank Castle. I feel like he’s in my bones now and he’s in my heart. I’m ready to keep going with him. Jon Bernthal Talks The Punisher

27 June 2016 11:52 AM, PDT | LatinoReview | See recent LatinoReview news »

No doubt about it, the latest season of Daredevil turned out to be quite the hit with fans. It contained the same grit, heart, and action that the first season was well known for. In addition to all that, however, the season really put Daredevil's morals to the test with the vigilante known as the Punisher. Rather than beating baddies to a pulp and leaving them for law enforcement to take care of, the Punisher believes it more productive to straight-up kill these criminals so that they can't put anyone in harm's way ever again.

This clash in ideals by itself is almost perfect, but actor Jon Bernthal's nuanced performance as Frank Castle only added to the credibility of the character. Through his portrayal, we were able to see the drive and the damage inherent in the man's DNA. In a recent interview with Awards Daily, Bernthal talked about his familiarity with comics, »

Jon Bernthal Reflects On Daredevil Season 2, Teases More To Come From The Punisher

Frank Castle’s raw and heartfelt exchange with the Devil of Hell’s Kitchen proved to be Jon Bernthal’s favorite scene in Daredevil season 2, and in a recent interview with Awards Daily, the actor teased that there’s still plenty to come from his lauded portrayal of The Punisher.

It proved to be a performance worthy of a spinoff series, with Netflix and Marvel finally issuing the green light on a Frank Castle-fronted offshoot after months of speculation.

More News From The Web

Now, Bernthal has reflected on his debut as the gun-toting mercenary, and why “the Frank Castle you find in [Daredevil Season 2] is not The Punisher.”

Per Awards Daily:

“I think when you’re talking about characters like these, the way they fight, what’s motivating the fight is very important. Beating someone up to drag them into jail is different than someone who is exercising his rage on people. »

Jon Bernthal Says The Frank Castle Seen In Daredevil Season 2 Wasn't The Punisher

26 June 2016 11:40 AM, PDT | ComicBookMovie.com | See recent ComicBookMovie news »

In a recent interview with Awards Daily, actor Jon Bernthal reflected on his portrayal of Frank Castle in the second season of Netflix and Marvel's Daredevil.  Bernthal admitted that before he was approached for the role, he wasn't actively trying to land a superhero role but learning about Castle's backstory is what changed his mind.   "I wasn’t desperately trying to get into the comic book world. [laughs] For me, it’s about the human being. He has no superpower. His superpower is his humanity. It’s his drive, his rage, and his loss. I could never have played this part if I weren’t a husband or father. Until you really understand what it’s like to love somebody more than yourself and to willingly give your life for them, only then can you understand what it would mean if they were taken from you." Bernthal also discussed how The Punisher »
