Nicole Richie reportedly wants Ashlee Simpson-Wentz to star as a supporting character in her new sitcom. It was recently revealed that the 28-year-old will be developing a sitcom for ABC, which she will star in as well as produce. Reports now claim that Richie is keen for her friend and actress Simpson-Wentz, 25, to appear alongside her. Oscar-bait movie season is in full effect this weekend, as the films premiering at your local cinema are meant to make you think, tug at the heartstrings and educate you on important issues. Today sees the release of "The Lovely Bones" (which, as it turns out, is not a movie devoted to the work of Emily Deschanel), Disney's "The Princess and the Frog" (which is not about the relationship between Emmy Rossum and Adam Duritz) and "Invictus," a Clint Eastwood-directed flick about Nelson Mandela's quest to get the South African rugby team to win the Rugby World Cup in 1995.
"Invictus" is an interesting movie, mainly because it shows rugby on movie screens, which is not often represented on film. And combined with current box office chart-topper "The Blind Side," it's a great period for sports movies. And where there are sports movies, there are also sports-based music videos. »

Being cut off from The CW's "Melrose Place" doesn't mean the end of Ashlee Simpson's TV career. According to The National Enquirer, she has got another television stint thanks to Nicole Richie and her new sitcom. The 25-year-old singer-slash-actress is said to be cast as a supporting role on the show.
National Enquirer in its December 21 issue went on reporting that Ashlee's casting was actually Nicole's first executive decision as series creator. It further detailed, "With few other job prospects on the horizon, Ashlee - who desperately wants to establish herself as an actress - was feeling down until Nicole stepped up and promised: 'I've got your back. What are girlfriends for?' "

Nicole Richie reportedly wants to recruit Ashlee Simpson as her co-star on her still-in-development TV show. "Nicole adores Ashlee, and she truly believes in her talent," a source told The National Enquirer.
News that Nicole is developing her own TV show was brought to surface last month. The not-yet-titled show will be a scripted half-hour sitcom that presents her as a "professional woman with complicated family relationships".
Her character, which is actually mirroring her real life, struggles to figure out what role she'll take as her life and her family evolve. The story actually came from Richie herself. That is why she is going to be credited as the producer along with Warren Bell and Jamie Tarses.
The pilot script which is written by "Californication" scribe Daisy Gardner, will be supervised by Warren. Up to date, this show is yet to have a premiere date. »

Lauren Od'd last night on Melrose Place. So did we on one of our favorite guilty pleasures after the freshman series closed the book on 2009 with a bang - or several.
Holy crap is about all we can say. After so many lackluster episodes brimming with untapped potential, Melrose threw just about everything at us in "San Vicente."

Preview for the next episode of "Melrose Place" promises The CW's TV series to be "bigger" and "more wicked than ever" when it airs its episode "Copa De Oro" on January 19, 2010. Also, there will be new faces and body parts offered.
Along with "The Vampire Diaries", "Melrose Place" has survived the ax. Averaging only at 2 million viewers, the drama series has been given a five episodes order which brings in a total of 18 episodes for this season.
Earlier this year, one of the cast Ashlee Simpson has been booted out of the show. In response, her sister Jessica Simpson wrote on Twitter stating, "CW catching up on MP. who writes this crap?i have had bad scripts to work with,but this?thank God my sister is amazing and got you some press."
