Cars 3 Trailer #4 Has Lighting McQueen Getting Gritty

26 April 2017 11:23 AM, PDT | MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news »

Cars 3 looks like it could be a big improvement over its predecessor. Pixar is not the kind of studio that likes to repeat mistakes, especially since they very rarely make them in the first place. It might be difficult to call the Cars franchise a mistake altogether, but it certainly isn't the most popular among the Pixar faithful. But it looks like with Cars 3 they are taking a much more serious approach, as evidenced by this latest trailer, and it looks like it could pay off in more ways than one.

Pixar has released the brand new trailer for Cars 3, giving us our best, most well-rounded look at the upcoming third installment of the Cars franchise. This time around we get to hear a bit of Nathan Fillion's character, who is trying to convince Lighting McQueen that his racing days are over and that he should focus on merchandising. »

‘Cars 3’ Trailer Shows Aftermath of Lightning McQueen Crash

26 April 2017 11:13 AM, PDT | Variety - Film News | See recent Variety - Film News news »

The new “Cars 3” trailer expands on the teaser trailer from last November, showing the aftermath of Lightning McQueen’s (Owen Wilson’s) dramatic crash.

Overall, the third film in the Pixar franchise deals with darker themes, as Lightning fights to stay relevant and avoid becoming a commercial sell-out as his racing days are numbered.

The crash — which is depicted in the new trailer — is a major turning point in Lightning’s life.

“I can’t go out on the track and do the same old thing. It won’t work,” opines the lead character.

A Legacy Hangs In The Balance In Blistering Full Trailer For Cars 3

26 April 2017 10:20 AM, PDT | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

It’s only when we hit our lowest point that we’re open to the greatest change. At least, that’s how the old saying goes, and it’s one that very much applies to Lightning McQueen’s journey in Cars 3, the animated threequel from Pixar and director Brian Fee that’s booked in for release on June 16th.

Hot off the unveiling of Nathan Fillion’s suave charmer, Sterling, the Pixar Brian Trust has today lifted the tarpaulin on the new (and potentially final) Cars 3 trailer in which we find Armie Hammer’s boisterous newcomer Jackson Storm cementing his place as the hottest stock car on the circuit. However, that blistering rise to fame comes at the expense of Owen Wilson’s Lightning McQueen, who finds his once ironclad legacy hanging in the balance.

It's Lightning's Last Chance in the Latest Cars 3 Trailer

26 April 2017 9:30 AM, PDT | Cinelinx | See recent Cinelinx news »

The latest trailer for Cars 3 drives home the idea that this could be Lightning McQueen's last trip around the track.  Come inside to experience the thrilling new trailer!

The Cars franchise has always been one of the more fun Disney-Pixar franchises, over the last couple of films.  That all changed with the footage we saw for Cars 3.  From trailers to images, everything we've seen has looked more bleak than upbeat.  With that in mind, Disney-Pixar released a new trailer for the 3rd film that incorporates a few more laughs while keeping the dire theme!  Take a look!

Surprisingly, this trailer actually gave me chills, while providing me with a chuckle or two.  The build up to the end of the trailer felt empowering, yet sad.  It made you want Lightning to win but realize that maybe this is the last hurrah of our favorite talking sports car.  I »

Disney•Pixar have just dropped the brand new trailer for Cars 3, the third film in the hit animated series which lands in cinemas this summer.

Blindsided by a new generation of blazing-fast racers, the legendary Lightning McQueen (voice of Owen Wilson) is suddenly pushed out of the sport he loves. Lightning McQueen Faces Retirement In The Full Trailer For Pixar’s ‘Cars 3’

26 April 2017 9:02 AM, PDT | The Playlist | See recent The Playlist news »

“Brave” was actually pretty successful (and better than most people think), “The Good Dinosaur” has its defenders, but the “Cars” franchise is among adult animation fans, by some distance, the least loved of all the Pixar movies. And rightly so: the 2006 original is sort of fun in places, while the second is a dull spy parody that leans far too heavily on Larry The Cable Guy’s Mater.

Cars 3 Posters Pit Lightning McQueen Against New Millennial Racers

17 April 2017 9:41 AM, PDT | MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news »

Disney has released two international posters for Cars 3, which show Lightning McQueen squaring off against two young racers Cruz Ramirez (Cristela Alonzo) and Jackson Storm (Armie Hammer). While Jackson Storm becomes his most contested rival on the Piston Cup circuit, Cruz Ramirez is actually on Lightning's side, serving as his new trainer to help him beat the young upstart. The first poster teases a scene we've previously seen in early concept art, which may be an homage to an iconic movie.

BadTaste.it debuted these posters, the first of which shows Lightning McQueen on the beach. You may recall that, back in May, Disney revealed concept art that showed Lightning McQueen and Cruz Ramirez racing on the sand, which may or may not be an homage to the iconic oceanside race between Rocky Balboa (Sylvester Stallone) and Apollo Creed (Carl Weathers) in Rocky 3. The second poster, however, is set at a packed racing arena, »

Review — ‘Thank God For Jokes’ Cements Mike Birbiglia As Comedy Asmr

14 March 2017 3:52 PM, PDT | FilmSchoolRejects.com | See recent FilmSchoolRejects news »

Soft-spoken and charming, Birbiglia owns his niche as a comedian-storyteller.

Fresh off the release of his second (and first non-autobiographical) film, Don’t Think Twice, Mike Birbiglia brings a new stand-up special to the usurping regent of filmed comedy hours, Netflix. Like Birbiglia’s other stand-up, especially the special My Girlfriend’s Boyfriend, Thank God For Jokes softly allows the comedian to barge non-threateningly into his audience’s hearts like an old roommate that you’d never thought you’d see again.

Birbiglia’s self-awareness of his own niche appeal, a sleepy introspectively intellectual goofball, is a hallmark of indie success. You have to know yourself before you know your market, but you have to know both to move forward. Birbiglia, a self-described niche comedian and independent filmmaker, has these two ends of an industry-wide production chain wrapped up. His comic anxiety and curtain-parting come from a place of professional savvy as well as personal aptitude. He »

Lightning Strikes And Mater Returns In First Cars 3 TV Spot

13 March 2017 9:36 AM, PDT | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

Lightning strikes (again) and Mater (Larry the Cable Guy) returns in the blistering first TV spot for Cars 3, Brian Fee’s upcoming animated threequel penciled in for release on June 16th.

Coming to us via this weekend’s 2017 Kids’ Choice Awards, which also brought forth a new and indeed extended peek at Michael Bay’s Transformers: The Last Knight, the brief promo above casts light on, well, the more light-hearted side of Fee’s rip-roaring sequel. The return of Mater will no doubt please long-time fans of the Cars series, who can be seen dolling out some questionable advice to Owen Wilson’s bruised red stock car.

Stuck in a rut following a devastating crash, Lightning McQueen finds himself unknowingly pushed to the sidelines as a new generation of ice-cool racers takes control of the circuit. Wanting nothing more than to challenge for the Piston Cup once more, Wilson »

First Look at Woody Woodpecker Movie

10 March 2017 12:46 PM, PST | MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news »

According to IMDb, Woody Woodpecker is coming to theaters in 2017 in his first ever movie. Which is odd, since we've heard little to nothing at all about it. Today, we have a look at the annoying bird courtesy of Imp Awards. This one-sheet is for international audiences, which has us wondering if this is even going to get a proper release on America shores.

The Woody Woodpecker movie is taking on an environmentally conscious theme, and will tackle social issues with a deft hand at the comedy fans have come to know and love. The plot finds the hyperactive red-head entering a turf war with a big city lawyer who wants to tear down his home. This is all in an effort to build a house to flip. From the poster, we'd assume that this is a fully animated CGI movie. But we'd be wrong, as it's listed as being »

Nathan Fillion And Kerry Washington Zoom Into Cars 3

8 March 2017 9:15 PM, PST | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

Despite their status as one of the best when it comes to animation, Pixar has certainly had more than a few stumbles along the way. It’s no secret that perhaps one of their weakest efforts was Cars, which was followed up by the even worse Cars 2. As such, it’s definitely a bit surprising that the studio is moving ahead with a third instalment in the series, but given that this is Hollywood – where money talks – I suppose it makes a bit of sense.

After all, the first two outings earned a healthy profit at the box office and this June, Cars 3 will zoom into theaters hoping to do the same. The only difference is that the threequel actually looks pretty good, with recent trailers marking a significant improvement from where we last left the property. Of course, we’re not one to judge a film based solely on the previews, »
