In the wake of the deadly Washington Navy Yard shooting rampage, White House officials announced Monday that they were postponing an East Room concert with Barack and Michelle Obama celebrating various styles of Latin music. Ricky Martin, Gloria Estefan to perform at the White House to celebrate Latin music

Ricky Martin and Gloria Estefan are headed to Washington, D.C. for a very special performance at the White House. They, along with Arturo Sandoval, will  appear as part of "Musica Latina: In Performance at the White House" on September 16, which will be hosted by President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama, the Washington Post reports.

Other performers for the event include Natalie Cole, Lila Downs, Raul Malo, Prince Royce, Romeo Santos, Alejandro Sanz and Marco Antonio Solis. The concert will air in English and Spanish on PBS on October 8, before premiering for online viewing.

Previously, the White House celebrated Latin music with a 2009 concert that featured Estefan, along with Marc Anthony, Sheile E., Los Lobos and more. »

Washington, Sep 13 (Ians/Efe) Gloria Estefan, Lila Downs, Ricky Martin and Alejandro Sanz are among the artistes invited to perform at a White House event next week as part of Hispanic Heritage Month celebrations, the White House said.

Musica Latina: In Performance at the White House would take place Sep 16, showcasing the influence and cultural contributions of Hispanic communities and their music, reported Efe quoting the White House statement.

The celebration of Latin music will be aired on PBS stations across the Us Oct 8 and would be broadcaston Oct 13 by the American Forces Network to Us military personnel and civilians at Us Defence Department facilities around the world.

Alejandro Sanz to offer two more concerts in Mexico

Mexico City, Aug 26 (Ians/Efe) Spanish singer Alejandro Sanz plans to offer two more concerts in Mexico after nearly selling out the shows planned for October, organizers said.

The Oct 1 and Oct 2 shows at Mexico City's Auditorio Nacional are almost completely sold out, prompting the singer to add performances Oct 4 and Oct 5 as part of his "La musica no se toca" world tour.

Sanz launched his tour Oct 12, 2012, at Mexico City's Foro Sol, traveling to cities in the Us, Latin America and Spain.

The singer plans to visit Mexico before the concerts to participate in the Aug 28-Sep 8 International Mariachi and Charreria Festival in the western city of Guadalajara.

Sanz says he still gets stage fright after 25 years

Miami, May 11 (Ians/Efe) Spanish singer-songwriter Alejandro Sanz says he still suffers from stage fright even after 25 years in the music business.

"Nerves are something you have to manage first of all. Facing an audience isn't easy and you never stop feeling nervous before going on stage," the artist said shortly before giving a concert Thursday night in Miami.

"The important thing is to have a good team of people around you and trust they're not going to let you down" and that way you can be sure of giving a good performance, Sanz said.

The 44-year-old Sanz made his remarks during a question-and-answer session with music students from leading universities in South Florida, shortly before giving a concert at American. »

Alejandro Sanz, Arturo Sandoval to share stage

Miami, April 17 (Ians/Efe) Singer-songwriter Alejandro Sanz will be joined by Cuban trumpet and piano player Arturo Sandoval at his May 1 concert in the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles, the Spanish artist announced via Twitter.

"Good morning, today I have a surprise... The great Arturo Sandoval will accompany me at the Los Angeles concert on May 1! I really want to share the stage with him. Who's coming?" Sanz tweeted.

The iconic Cuban musician has won nine Grammy Awards and an Emmy, and the public in Los Angeles will have the chance to see two multi-prizewinning musicians sharing the same stage.

Draco Rosa launches new disc

San Juan, March 20 (Ians/Efe) After a two-year battle against cancer, Puerto Rican singer-songwriter Draco Rosa launched Tuesday his new album "Vida" (Life) on which he teams up with 16 artists including Ricky Martin, Shakira and Alejandro Sanz.

Others accompanying Rosa are Juan Luis Guerra, Calle 13, Juanes, Marc Anthony, Tego Calderon, Mana, Ruben Blades, Jose Feliciano, Enrique Bunbury, Andres Calamaro, Romeo Santos, Ednita Nazario and MiMa.

The new Rosa album is being released almost two years after he was diagnosed with cancer and not quite three months since doctors pronounced him cured.
