Jeremy Clarkson is not bigger than the BBC, says boss Danny Cohen

21 August 2014 6:32 AM, PDT | Digital Spy | See recent Digital Spy - TV news news »

BBC TV boss Danny Cohen has said that Jeremy Clarkson is not "untouchable".

Cohen explained that Clarkson's use of the racially-offensive word 'slope' in a Top Gear episode, and his alleged mumbling of 'n****r' while filming the show, would have an "impact" on the BBC Two series.

Speaking at today's (August 21) Edinburgh International Television Festival (via Radio Times), Cohen said that while he does not believe Clarkson has done anything wrong, some of the language he used was unacceptable.

Cohen said: "I was very clear in public and in private that I was incredibly unhappy with his language.

"I have made that extremely clear and Jeremy knows that that will impact on the way the show is thought about in the future.

"People have loads of views on Jeremy Clarkson. There are people who think that me being so angry about it is an over-reaction. I don't think it is an over-reaction. »

Sky News political editor Adam Boulton chokes on fly live on-air

15 July 2014 11:47 PM, PDT | Digital Spy | See recent Digital Spy - TV news news »

Flies can be a nuisance at the best of times, let alone when you're trying to talk live on television.

Sky News' political editor Adam Boulton was trying to deliver important details about the government cabinet reshuffle, when a fly decided to die for a share of the limelight.

Presenter Dermot Murnaghan urgently asked his colleague if he needed a break, as he starts to choke up and pull bizarre facial expressions.

"No I'm fine, I swallowed a fly but I've recovered now," Boulton replies while pulling at his tie and attempting to move on from the subject.

This isn't the first on-air spat for the outgoing editor. In 2010, he clashed with Tony Blair's former spin doctor Alastair Campbell. Watch the moment below: »

Elton John Talks about Same Sex Marriages

30 June 2014 10:06 PM, PDT | icelebz.com | See recent iCelebz news »

Elton John would like those who oppose same-sex marriage for so-called religious reasons to have another look at their New Testament.

"The church hierarchy, the traditionalists, might be up in arms about it but times have changed," the 67-year-old singer recently told Sky News' Dermot Murnaghan.

"If Jesus Christ was alive today, I cannot see him, as the Christian person that he was and the great person that he was, saying this could not happen. He was all about love and compassion and forgiveness and trying to bring people together and that is what the church should be about."

John and longtime partner David Furnish have two sons together and are planning to marry next year in London, now that gay marriage is legal in England.

Editor Ben de Pear responds to political editor's dismissal of C4's presenters as 'muppets … fighting over the autocue'

This is better than Anchorman. Adam Boulton's dismissal of Channel 4 News presenters as "muppets … fighting over the autocue" has prompted a fierce response from Ben de Pear, the Channel 4 News editor. He tweeted the Sky News political editor: "If Jon's co hosts r Muppets, (they're not) u lot r Fraggle Rock. Don't remember them? Exactly". Sky News anchor Dermot Murnaghan, who had been staying out of the fracas, was included in another barbed tweet from de Pear to Boulton: "u have the advantage, being on Sky, of no one recognising you. Hassle free." Channel 44 anchor Krishnan Guru-Murthy intervened to play peacemaker. "Ben wasn't referring to Dermot (Murnaghan) who is obviously huge star and ex-C4news," he tweeted. Guru-Murthy challenged Boulton to donate £500 to Duchenne Dash, a 24 hour bike »
