It's a bird! It's a plane! It's a really cool guest star! Superman Returns star Brandon Routh is set to make a super guest appearance on The Millers, E! News has exclusively learned. Routh, who recently starred in the short-lived sitcom Partners opposite Michael Urie and Sophia Bush, will stop by Will Arnett's new hit sitcom as Officer Davis, a handsome police officer who is investigating a string of petty thefts in Nathan (Arnett) and his mother Carol's (Margo Martindale) neighborhood. (Um, can we move there, please?) His episode is set to air in 2014. Aside from his time donning the Superman cape before Henry Cavill and scoring laughs on Partners, Routh is known for his work »

Hey look, another TV remake! That's hardly news anymore, but the show being remade -- "The Odd Couple" -- and the star attached to it -- Matthew Perry -- make this one a little more intriguing.

Perry will star as Oscar Madison in the new version, which is in development at CBS. He's also co-writing the pilot script with comedy veteran Danny Jacobson ("Mad About You," "Two Guys and a Girl").

"Ever since seeing the movie 'The Odd Couple' when I was 10 years old, it has been a dream for me to play Oscar Madison," Perry tells Deadline. "To be given the opportunity to develop a modern version of it for CBS has put a permanent smile across my face."

“Arrow” Adds a “Vampire Diaries” Hunk, NBC Wants some Maya Rudolph Variety and “The Real World” Gets a Twist

News

Aisha Tyler has booked a guest-appearance on HBO’s upcoming human sexuality drama Open, according to TVLine. She’ll play a married nurse with a “modern outlook on matrimony”.

In frustrating but unsurprising news, Fxx has cancelled Totally Biased with W. Kamau Bell, as first reported by Defamer. At this point, that raises the question if Fxx can even support original programming. Established hits like It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia and The League were able to survive a move, but instead of debuting Chozen, Fxx will air repurposed episodes of Da Ali G Show.

The combination of Guy Branum and Janine Brito will be missed.

Individually they were great, together they’re amazing.

Balancing out that loss to comedy and diversity slightly is the news that NBC is reviving Last Comic Standing with Wanda Sykes joining the show as a producer. I tend to like the talent search episodes of Last Comic Standing. »

36 Pics Of Birthday Boy Randy Harrison

1 November 2013 10:04 AM, PDT | The Backlot | See recent The Backlot news »

When Queer As Folk debuted, it was a huge step forward in gay representation on TV, and part of the success of the series was the performance of Randy Harrison as teenager Justin Taylor. Justin was the heart of the show, and began a love affair with the character Brian Kinney …who was the dick of the show (you can interpret that however you want).

After Qaf, Randy has worked steadily, mostly on stage, where he continues to shine. And look for him this year starring with Michael Urie in the indie film Such Good People.

This weekend is his 36th birthday, so let’s pay tribute with a gallery of Randy at his sunshine best.

The new "All Stars" season features designers Isaac Mizrahi and Georgina Chapman returning as judges, joined by newcomer Zanna Roberts Rassi of Marie Claire magazine. Guest judges include Kristin Chenoweth, Michael Urie and Nate Berkus

Because I can’t find a decent way to display the series of photos, you’ll just have to go look at the perfect joy that is John Barrowman building an adult Big Wheel, then riding said Big Wheel. His life is so much more fun than mine.

Coming down from that high, the Family Research Council says that marriage equality threatens the wellbeing of countless families. The whole thing is worth a read, but I liked this passage best. “Consensual homosexual unions might cause no apparent distress to persons proximate to them, but they diminish an institution – marriage – without which, civilization will erode ever more quickly. And in case one hasn’t noticed, natural marriage in the United States is in enough trouble as it is.” Sounds like a personal problem to me. »

Theater Reviews: Buyer and Cellar and Choir Boy

3 July 2013 8:30 AM, PDT | Vulture | See recent Vulture news »

Buyer and Cellar (at the Barrow Street Theatre through October 13) Jonathan Tolins's multicharacter megalogue—starring the ticklishly talented,  ultracarbonated Michael Urie—imagines the life of an employee on Barbra Streisand's Wonka-like estate, slyly and hilariously corkscrewing a wacky story of gay icon-worship run amok with a treatise on the poignancy of our starfucking (sorry, "aspirational") economy. Alex (Urie) is an unemployed actor who interviews for a mystery job in Malibu: a nameless supercelebrity has built a freakin' mall in her basement—a private galleria with one customer. This eccentric wants an "employee" to staff it—to, in effect, sell her own stuff back to her, praising the wares and jacking up the price. When Alex discovers his loopy boss is none other than the Thrush of Brooklyn herself, he's hooked. (Also, his Vw is on its last legs, and this beats auditioning.) Latter-day Marie Antoinette peasant-play evolves into bosom friendship—and then, »
