Shrek: The Musical opened on Broadway last night, and there were plenty of celebs on hand to help welcome the famous green ogre to the stage. Cameron Diaz looked festive in her sparkly white dress while America Ferrera, Ben Stiller and Christine Taylor also checked out the performance. Cameron was the first actress to make Princess Fiona come to life, but she's happy to leave the singing and dancing to the Broadway professionals. When asked about taking the stage, she said, "No. Absolutely not. What they do up there ... is, to me, impossible. It's wonderful, though. They've done such a great job. They worked really hard, and it really pays off." Sounds like we'll just have to wait for the next Shrek movie to see Cameron step back into Fiona's ogre shoes. "You need to use the Internet to have any career at all," says actor David Blue, who plays the recurring role of Cliff, Marc St. James' (Michael Urie) love interest on Ugly Betty. What was once the domain of paper and ink now fills cyberspace. Casting has gone from the hand-to-stack exercise of sorting through headshots to the click-and-scroll of digital images and videos. And in direct response, actors are turning to the Internet for support, social networking, and self-promotion. They are creating new roles for themselves: that of a "cyber self." Blue uses his MySpace page combo-style — personally and professionally. "MySpace has acted as a site where fans and people interested in keeping up with me can hear what's happening on a regular basis," he says. When we last saw Betty Suarez (America Ferrera), she was caught up in a whirlwind with her career on a roll and her love life going on overdrive. She was torn between Henry Grubstick (Christopher Gorham), who asked her to marry him and Gio Rossi (Freddy Rodrguez), who asked her to come to Rome with him. Finally, after months of waiting, fans will get to see Betty’s decision, as she makes her move on September 25, at 8pm on ABC.
After two successful seasons of Ugly Betty, fans can’t wait to see what the creator and producers have up their sleeve. While some see the second season as an underwhelming one, one actor thinks that the show will have more spunk than ever this season, and it will prove to be an enduring show. Michael Urie, who plays Marc St. James, recently told the Press Association, “Betty will be »
With the recently concluded second season of Ugly Betty, fans can’t help but think what’s in store next season. Silvio Horta has already told us that he’ll be refocusing the show to revolve around Betty and Betty alone, and this may mean bad things for some of the characters who might get chopped off. We recently heard about Rebecca Romijn’s role on the show as being tagged as recurring instead of regular, and fans did get a little bit worried.
Now that the show is on hiatus in preparation for its third season, two of Ugly Betty’s cast members spoke up about other possible Ugly Betty ventures, and what’s to come in the third season of the show.
Recently, Michael Urie, who plays the flamboyant Marc St. James, spoke to Britain’s Heart Fm and talked about the possibility of a Broadway rendition of the highly successful dramedy. »
The cast of the programme are soon going to be able to showcase their vocal talents in a musical episode - and now Urie admits there are plans afoot to stage a full theatrical production in New York.
Urie insists that if the Broadway show is given the go ahead, he would like all of the original cast to take part.
He tells British radio station Heart Fm, "They do want to do an Ugly Betty musical, a full-on Broadway musical, but it's all hush-hush. I think it would be great, and they should use the cast from the show.
"I think we would all do it, although we maybe don't dance and sing as well as professional singers and dancers. I think it would be fun for us to do it for a while, and then they could get real people in. They definitely want to do an episode that is a musical one, but then they want to do a full stage show. I think it's a great idea. It would definitely work." »
There won’t be any major stuntcasting when ABC’s “Ugly Betty” returns April 24. It’s been rumored that “Project Runway” winner Christian Siriano might make an appearance on the Thursday dramedy, but ABC is not confirming that cameo at present.
Anyway, the show will get back to basics and focus on the core characters when Betty Suarez and her family and co-workers return.
As for “Grey’s Anatomy,” its first episode back on April 24 is titled “Where the Wild Things Are.” Make of that what you will.
There are more details on the returns of “Grey’s” and “Ugly Betty” below.
[Spoilers below. Exit if you don't want to see them.]
In the episode, Betty dreams of the perfect birthday party, complete with a horse and carriage and her boyfriend Henry (Christopher Gorham) as her knight in shining armor. »
