Jay Z Refocuses Kneeling Protest by Wearing Kapernick Jersey on 'SNL'

  • TMZ
Jay Z made a not-so-subtle statement on the season opener of "SNL" ... with his Colin Kaepernick jersey. Jay and Damian Marley were the musical guests and performed "Bam" from his "4:44" album. [[tmz:video id="0_qixiobwy"]] It's an "unofficial" jersey but the message is clear ...  it's all about Black Lives Matter and the National Anthem kneeling controversy. The kneeling message has gotten diluted since Trump went ham on NFL players who protested during the song.  It seems Jay wanted

‘SNL': Jay-z Wears Colin Kaepernick Jersey During Musical Performance
It had been rumored that Jay-z would take advantage of his spot as the musical guest on the season 43 premiere of “SNL” to make a political statement related to the NFL player protests that reached a fever pitch this past week. And a statement he did make, stepping on stage to perform “Bam” with Damian Marley, while wearing a a football jersey sporting Colin Kaepernick’s number 7 and the name “Colin K” on the back. It was not, however, an officially sanctioned NFL jersey, but rather a blank generic jersey with no team name or logo. Obviously, “Colin K” is.

Jay-z's 4:44 Lyrics: All About, Beyoncé, Blue Ivy, Cheating, Kanye West, Solange, the Twins...and Becky
Jay-z is turning lemons into Lemonade with his 13th studio album. 4:44, released exclusively on Tidal in partnership with Sprint, features 10 original recordings, many of which were seemingly written in response to his wife Beyoncé's deeply personal visual album. The trailer for the album featured cameos from Oscar-winning actors Mahershala Ali, Danny Glover and Lupita Nyong'o, and the album itself features tracks with Beyoncé (who is also a co-writer), Frank Ocean and Damian Marley—as well as the rapper's mom, Gloria Carter. iHeartRadio's The Beat shared exclusive audio of Jay-z explaining the meaning behind his lyrics. 1. Jay-z Seemingly Addresses Beyonce's 'Lemonade,' Becky & That Infamous Elevator Fight on New Album '4:44'

Jay-z Seemingly Addresses Beyonce's 'Lemonade,' Becky & That Infamous Elevator Fight on New Album '4:44'
For fans hoping that Jay-z’s new album, 4:44, would address Beyonce’s Lemonade -- more specifically, the themes of infidelity and family drama in the diva’s award-winning 2016 visual album -- the rapper wasted no time, getting in deep on the album’s very first song.

The internet blew up immediately after 4:44 was released exclusively to Tidal and Sprint customers on Thursday night, with many pointing to lyrics in the first track, “Kill Jay-z,” that seem to address both Lemonade and the rapper’s infamous elevator spat with Beyonce’s sister, Solange Knowles, after the 2014 Met Gala.

"You egged Solange on,” Jay rhymes, “knowing all along all you had to say you was wrong."

Thankfully, a number of videos have now surfaced with footage from the event, giving viewers who didn’t make it out to Black Rock City this year a chance to witness the festivities.

You Can Stream Skrillex’s Full Edc Brasil Set Right Here

It’s reassuring that even after spending a large chunk of 2015 making radio-ready pop music with the likes of Justin Bieber, Skrillex can still throw down a set of bone-rattling bass music when the situation calls for it.

Now that Edc Brasil has wrapped up, a direct recording of his performance at the festival has begun making its rounds on social media, and it’s definitely worth watching. Mixing grating bass wobbles with saccharine melodies and borderline chipmunk-esque vocals in the style that Skrillex is known for, the performance succeeded in energizing the thousands-deep crowd in attendance on the evening he played.

Replete with remixes and edits of tracks from the likes of of Avicii, Fetty Wap and A$AP Ferg as well as a whole host of originals, his set made for a spirited return to the style that made him famous back in 2010-2011.

Considering that artists like Dash Berlin,
