The Vampire Diaries Review: “Dead Man On Campus” (Season 5, Episode 8)

26 November 2013 5:07 PM, PST | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

The Vampire Diaries is moving along unusually quick this season. They’ve already tied up one major storyline and Silas (Paul Wesley), Quetsiya/Tessa (Janina Gavankar) and Amara (Nina Dobrev) are all dead – although Tvd history has taught us that doesn’t always mean they’re gone for good (Both Bonnie and Jeremy, who are main characters, have come back from the dead). Now, we’re rapidly moving into the underlying Augustine vampire plot that has been setting itself up since the beginning of the season.

Truth be told, I love the faster pace that the writers behind The Vampire Diaries have chosen to take this season. It works spectacularly well for other series, and with networks quick to give shows the ax – even veteran shows – Tvd cannot afford another slump like last season. Plus, it’s far more entertaining. I’d rather take it all in to start with »

The Vampire Diaries, Ep 5.07: “Death and the Maiden” brings closure for several characters

Nina Dobrev, Janina Gavankar

The Vampire Diaries, Season 5, Episode 7: “Death and the Maiden

Written by Rebecca Sonnenshine

Directed by Leslie Libman

Airs Thursdays at 8pm (Et) on The CW

The discovery last week of what the supernatural purgatory was really anchored to opened up the story of Silas and Qetsiyah with an added variable that ended the episode on a fragile note. With the formerly immortal witch proving himself less than trustworthy, the Mystic Falls group was left with a dilemma on how to keep Amara alive long enough to bring Bonnie back. This week’s episode puts its entire focus on this storyline, bringing all the participants together in dramatic fashion in a superb episode that brings about some resolutions quicker than expected.

The idea of Bonnie as the anchor to the Underworld is an intriguing one. While it does bring her back into the land of the living, »

‘Vampire Diaries’ Recap: Two Lovers Are Forced To Make A Sacrifice

14 November 2013 7:04 PM, PST | HollywoodLife | See recent HollywoodLife news »

Three Ninas. Three deaths. One incredible episode.

I hope Nina Dobrev took a nice long nap after shooting the Nov. 14 episode of The Vampire Diaries, because that girl worked her butt off. In fact, she worked all three of her butts off, as the doppelgangers were the key components in Tessa’s (Janina Gavankar) spell to make Bonnie (Kat Graham) the new anchor to the other side. And while the ladies’ efforts paid off by the end of the hour, achieving their goal came at a price. A deadly price. Three people died!

Silas (Paul Wesley) and Amara were the first two to die, and it was actually weirdly beautiful the way it happened. Pissed at his doppelganger for more reasons than I can even begin to fathom, Stefan delivered a fatal stab to Silas, leaving him to die in the arms of his once-mistress. Not wanting to remain on earth without him, »

Klaroline Fans, Take Note: Joseph Morgan Returning to The Vampire Diaries Soon!

14 November 2013 1:04 PM, PST | DreadCentral.com | See recent Dread Central news »

With "The Originals" becoming even more popular than its predecessor, "The Vampire Diaries," is it any surprise the powers-that-be have announced that Klaus, the villain we all love to hate, is returning to his old stomping grounds of Mystic Falls?

Details are sparse at this point, but TV Guide confirmed today that Klaus Mikaelson (Joseph Morgan; pictured) is indeed returning to "The Vampire Diaries" this season. No word on which episode or in what context, but with "Tvd's" 100th episode airing soon, that could very well be when we see him and his heart's desire, Caroline (Candice Accola), reunited.

Keep it here for more as it comes, and in the meantime, here's another look at what's ahead tomorrow night in "The Vampire Diaries" Episode 5.07, "Death and the Maiden."

‘Vampire Diaries’: Is Katherine In Love With Damon Or Stefan?

13 November 2013 3:17 PM, PST | HollywoodLife | See recent HollywoodLife news »

Vote for the brother you think Katherine is falling for, then drop a comment with your thoughts on the state of relationships in Mystic Falls.

The Salvatore brothers’ love lives are nothing if not complicated, but Nina Dobrev says things are about to get more twisted than ever, thanks to one of her three doppelganger characters intervening. Katherine apparently has a “lingering love for one of the brothers that we learn more about as episodes progress,” Nina recently told HollywoodLife.com‘s sister site TVLine. “Almost like Elena has chosen, Katherine has chosen, and we see that unfold.”

So, Katherine’s back on the Salvatore bandwagon? I guess that means she’s gotten over Elijah (Daniel Gillies), which is probably for the best, since he’s all about Hayley (Phoebe Tonkin) these days. But the question remains: Which Salvatore does Katherine have her eye on? Is she fantasizing about bath »

‘The Vampire Diaries’ Season 5 Episode 7 Lead-in: Stop with the Dopplegangers… Please

12 November 2013 8:16 AM, PST | BuzzFocus.com | See recent BuzzFocus.com news »

Raise your hand if your enjoying the addition of Janina Gavankar, as Tessa, to The Vampire Diaries.

Okay, am I the only one? When new characters are introduced to the Mystic Falls mythos, I’m always excited. There’s only so much rehashing of previous story arcs and relationship triangles that can be achieved with a small cast – especially one where everyone seems to die so frequently.

Last year, we got Connor – the best damn hunter Mystic Falls had ever seen and one of the best character additions since Klaus. Unfortunately, we lost Connor before Season 4′s mid-season finale. I can only hope that Tessa survives a little longer. She may be crazy, but I like strong female characters that can pull some strings.

Sadly, I’m not holding my breath. We’ve got a touch of doppleganger (or triple-ganger as the case may be with these so-called “shadow-selves”) overload in Mystic Falls. »

‘Vampire Diaries’ Recap: A Shadow From The Past Poses A Triple Threat

7 November 2013 6:52 PM, PST | HollywoodLife | See recent HollywoodLife news »

Plus, is Katherine dying?! This was easily the craziest episode of ‘The Vampire Diaries’ to date, but I’m confident we can make sense of it. Together.

If you found yourself scratching your head during much of The Vampire Diaries‘ Nov. 7 episode, don’t feel too bad. It just means that, unlike most of the show’s characters, you’re human! It was a super-confusing hour, full of doppelgangers and “anchors” and Snooki references — and by the end, a familiar face returned to Mystic Falls to throw a nasty wrench in the gang’s plan to resurrect Bonnie (Kat Graham).

Nina Dobrev: Triple Threat

Let’s get one thing out of the way first: Nina Dobrev is officially the busiest actress on television, Orphan Black‘s Tatiana Maslany aside. We discovered this week that the “anchor” Tessa (Janina Gavankar) has been yammering about for the past two weeks isn »

‘Vampire Diaries’ Recap: Katherine Faces A Shadow From Her Past

31 October 2013 8:04 PM, PDT | HollywoodLife | See recent HollywoodLife news »

Plus, a fan-favorite couple tragically calls it quits! (I guess that’s why they call it Halloween, not Happy-ween.)

Following in rich Vampire Diaries tradition, a costume party set the stage for a game-changing supernatural showdown on the show’s Oct. 31 episode.

The crux of this week’s drama centered around Damon’s (Ian Somerhalder) plan to bring Bonnie (Kat Graham) back from the dead by trading Silas’ (Paul Wesley) life for hers — you know, like the way you trade Pokemon cards. The first part of the plan, get Klaus to drink Katherine’s (Nina Dobrev) cure-blood, was do-able. The second part? Not so much.

(Side note: Is Katherine a vampire now? I mean, how else would she have survived being completely drained by Klaus if she’s still human?!)

It turns out the gang still needs a supernatural “anchor,” which was created by Tessa (Janina Gavankar) — who looked incredible as Cleopatra, »
