Clint Eastwood sparks controversy with Trump comments

The director has claimed that people should “just get over” remarks by the presidential candidate that have been criticised as racist.

Clint Eastwood has stirred controversy by claiming that people should “just f*cking get over” racially sensitive remarks made by presidential candidate Donald Trump.  

“We see people accusing people of being racist and all kinds of stuff. When I grew up, those things weren’t called racist,” said the 86-year-old Hollywood icon in an interview with Esquire magazine.

Republican nominee Trump has drawn criticism on multiple occasions for making controversial remarks throughout his campaign. In June, he verbally attacked federal judge Gonzalo Curiel, who is overseeing a series of lawsuits against Trump University, claiming that his Mexican heritage meant he was biased.

Commenting on those remarks, Eastwood admitted that Trump has “said a lot of dumb things” but derided the “big hoodoo” around that example, referring to the current climate as “a sad time in history »

Frontières five team up on anthologies

As Montreal genre festival Fantasia’s Frontières International Co-Production Market wrapped, it emerged that five participants have teamed up to release a series of anthologies curated from the Little Terrors short film festival in Toronto.

The series is the brainchild of Little Terrors founder Justin McConnell and Indiecan Entertainment’s Avi Federgreen.

Indiecan, Unstable Ground and Rue Morgue Magazine produce the anthologies, which will be released in the Us through a partnership between Uncork’d Entertainment and Indiecan Entertainment, while Indiecan and Raven Banner Releasing will collaborate in Canada.

The first release, Minutes Past Midnight, is set for a limited theatrical release in early October, followed by North American VOD on October 18 and DVD on February 5, 2017.

Each release will feature selections culled from the last five years of Little Terrors that played around the world. Raven Banner Entertainment will handle outstanding international sales.

FrightFest unveils 2016 line-up

Genre festival reveals masterclasses and film programme.

Horror Channel FrightFest (Aug 25-29) has unveiled the line-up of events and movies for its 2016 edition, set to be held at the Vue cinema in London’s Shepherds Bush.

Screen will host a panel on the future of the UK horror film industry, followed by the first Screen International Horror Rising Star Award [click here for the shortlist].

There will also be a horror writing master class with writer-director James Moran; a women in horror symposium; a special effects demo from maestro Dan Martin; and a discussion by filmmaker Paul Davis – who made John Landis approved doc Beware The Moon - marking the 35th anniversary of An American Werewolf In London.

The festival is also set to screen H.G. Lewis’ 1963 gore classic Blood Feast, which is getting a 4K restoration from Arrow. 

The FrightFest audience will be the first in the UK to see The Neighbor, directed by Marcus Dunstan (The Collection).

Adult Life Skills is a wonderful comedy drama about loss, coping, and drawing willies on things.

Might we have a quick word about a smaller movie called Adult Life Skills that's currently in limited release in UK cinemas? We didn't get to see the film ahead of its release, but have now had the pleasure of it. And we think it deserves a huge spotlight shining on it. Which is what we're doing now.

The basics, then. Anna (Jodie Whittaker) is not coping well with the death of her twin brother.
