The BBC revealed it has received complaints about its coverage of the 2023 Wimbledon final between Novak Djokovic and Carlos Alcaraz .
In the thrilling Wimbledon finale between 23-time Grand Slam winner Djokovic and 20-year-old Alcaraz, the match reached boiling point as the game entered its fifth set. At one point, the moment was too much for Djokovic as he trailed Alcaraz in the deep stages of the final set, leading the Serbian to smash his racket against the net post .
However, following the final, the BBC shared that some viewers had complained about how commentator Andrew Castle turned Djokovic's heated moment into a positive. But, the broadcasting organisation quickly responded with an official statement , stating that Castle's observations were fair and usual due to the context of the match.
"There was no intention to condone Djokovic’s behaviour when hitting the net post with his racket. Instead, while Andrew Castle...

Carlos Alcaraz 's stunning five-set win over Novak Djokovic in the Wimbledon final had many people gasping in surprise, including Australia's Nick Kyrgios .
The mercurial Nick Kyrgios was among millions watching on TV worldwide at the breathtaking final in which Alcaraz ended Djokovic's decade-long dominance on Centre Court to win his second Grand Slam title in five pulsating sets.
When Alcaraz took control of the match from a set down, Kyrgios called Alcaraz 'a freak' in a tweet that has since garnered close to 5 million impressions on Twitter . Alcaraz, who is 16 years Djokovic's junior, showcased his full repertoire and extraordinary athleticism to outlast the Serb in rallies.
And Kyrgios did not stop there. He cunningly mocked BBC match commentator Andrew Castle and chair umpire Fergus Murphy who Kyrgios clashed with in the infamous second-round match against Karen Khachanov in Cincinnati in 2019, landing him one of the biggest tennis fines in history.

Doctor Who, Star Trek and more: what happened when sci-fi, horror & fantasy heroes have popped up on British daytime TV over the years…
Pre-YouTube, fandom was a hard-earned thing. It took research, dedication and enough patience to hover over the family video player’s ‘record’ button for an entire episode of TV-am in anticipation of six minutes with Sylvester McCoy. Six minutes in which the Seventh Doctor would be polled if he was a cat or dog person and then asked to taste a lemon roulade.
Scarcity bred desire in those days, so we took what we could get from our heroes of yore, even if that meant watching Hammer Horror legend Ingrid Pitt make a chocolate mousse, or the aforementioned McCoy attempt to answer fan questions above the hubbub of a Nottingham swimming pool complex. The collision of geek icons and UK daytime magazine shows was sometimes illuminating, sometimes excruciating,...

In the 10 years that have passed since the romantic comedy Wimbledon was released, Great Britain has finally crowned a British champion in Andy Murray.
At the time of its release, Tim Henman was the UK's biggest hope, but it had got to the point where we were so desperate to see a British champion, we had to make a movie about it just so we can pretend what it's actually like.
I say 'we', but the film was actually written by two Americans and a Canadian, and that does explain a lot when it comes to classic British stereotypes and fantastical depictions of London. However, it was directed by a Brit, Richard Loncraine.
The movie shows just how highly regarded and romanticised the Wimbledon Tennis Championships are around the world. It's hard to imagine a similar film titled French Open.
