What have I been doing lately? I have been stalking Bryan Poyser (Lovers of Hate) on Facebook. Well, it is not technically stalking since he accepted my friendship, right? Truth be told, I am not actually a Facebook stalker, I am merely doing my job. (Really!) I am keeping tabs on the production of Poyser’s latest film, The Bounceback. As I write this, Poyser is entering week three of the Austin-based production which stars Ashley Bell (The Last Exorcism), Michael Stahl-David (Cloverfield), Sara Paxton (The Innkeepers), and Addison Timlin (Californication). The primary cast might not be very Austin-centric, but the crew – which includes producer Megan Gilbride, cinematographer Pj Raval, and editor Don Swaynos – certainly is. My love for Lovers of Hate and Dear Pillow knows no bounds, so let’s just say that I am eagerly awaiting the release of The Bounceback. Poyser is not the only Austin filmmaker lucky enough to be stalked by yours »

Ashley Bell got her start as the possessed lead in The Last Exorcism, but the budding horror star actually comes from comedy royalty as she trained with The Groundlings, the legendary improv group co-founded by her mother, Victoria Carroll. Now, after years of being scary, she’ll get to show her funny side in a new rom-com.
According to THR, Bell signed on to star in The Bounceback, a film about two former couples who rekindle their love for each other during a visit to their hometown. It’s a definite departure for the actress, as she just finished work on The Last Exorcism 2 in New Orleans, and will soon be seen in the post-apocalyptic thriller The Day when it releases on August 17.
Also in the cast are Michael Stahl-David (Cloverfield), Sara Paxton (Shark Night 3D) and Addison Timlin (Californication). Bryan Poyser, who wrote the script along with Steven Walters and David Shotwell, »

Fans of Zooey Deschanel.s Fox sitcom New Girl know it as .backsliding.. Perhaps after Ashley Bell.s new rom-com comes out, we.ll start calling it The Bounceback. I.m referring to the act of slipping into the comfortable routines of being with an ex-boyfriend or girlfriend, even though you know the relationship doesn.t work and being around each other is combustible. That appears to be the plot (or driving force) behind Bell.s new feature, which THR says she.ll begin filming later this month in Austin, Texas. Directed by Bryan Poyser, Bounceback follows two former couples who spend the weekend in the Texas hot spot working through their relationships. Bell reportedly plays the ex-girlfriend of Cloverfield actor Michael Stahl-David. But these horror veterans aren.t the only ones recruited for Poyser.s rom-com. Look for Sara Paxton, cutie-blonde star of The Innkeepers and Shark Night 3D »

After showing off its wares to unsuspecting moviegoers at SXSW’s Midnighter line-up, Austin Chick’s revenge thriller “Girls Against Boys” has landed a distributor: Anchor Bay Films has acquired the title, which made its debut at SXSW this week, for North American consumption. The gritty revenge thriller stars Danielle Panabaker and Nicole Laliberte as bartenders who decide they’ve had enough of the men in their lives being douche bags to them, and decide to get even. Brutally, sexily, and violently even. Liam Aiken, Michael Stahl-David and Andrew Howard play the hapless victims — er, I mean, men in the film. Chick’s previous credits include “Xx/Xy” and “August” with Josh Harnett. If you missed “Girls Against Boys’” last two Midnighter screenings at SXSW, don’t fret, there are two more to go. One set for tonight, and the final one for tomorrow night. Miss those, and you’ll »

Who’S It For? If you crave a somewhat serious, somewhat psychotic take of women taking revenge on all men, then Girls Against Boys is for you.
Overall
We’ve all heard the saying “boys against girls” on the playground. That’s the way I’ve said it, probably because I’m a boy. Now it’s time to turn the tables. That’s right … it’s Girls Against Boys, wouldn’t that be fun?

Seeing as he’s only making a directorial debut with Jamesy Boy, Trevor White can count himself as a very luck man. According to Deadline, Mary-Louise Parker, James Woods, and Ving Rhames have all signed for the indie drama, written by the director and Lane Shadgett.
With Boy, things are told from the perspective of a young man, James (Spencer Lofranco), who “goes from suburban street gangs to a maximum-security prison surrounded by hardened criminals,” but soon “fosters an unlikely friendship with a convicted murderer who ends up becoming his mentor and ultimately defines and changes the course of his life.” THR gives a little more insight in the casting realm, noting that Parker will play the boy’s mother; Rhames, his mentor; and Woods has the part of “an authority figure at a detention center.” (The description for a James Woods character if I’ve ever heard one.) Not a bad collection of players, »

Michael Stahl-David and Zoe Kazan are set to lead in Joss Whedon’s science-fiction romantic indie film, In Your Eyes.
Directed by Brin Hill with a script by Joss Whedon, the film is a metaphysical love story in which Stahl-David plays the character of Dylan who lives in a trailer in New Mexico after serving time in jail and Kazan plays the character of Rebecca, an attractive but slightly awkward woman who is married to an older doctor and living in Connecticut. The two have never met, but through a powerful connection that neither of them could have imagined, the two seemingly opposite characters can hear and see each other.
Stahl-David made his feature film debut as the lead in Jj Abrams’ Cloverfield and last starred in ABC’s My Generation, whilst Kazan, who scripted Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris’ He Loves Me is well-known for her role in Sam Mendes’ Revolutionary Road. »

The terror and sadness of a Transformers reboot will loom over every story pertaining to Michael Bay for, give or take, the next two and a half years, but I’m oddly encouraged to know that something a little smaller (and, in all likelihood, less grating) comes before that: Pain and Gain. Almost surely the smallest film of Bay‘s entire oeuvre, the Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely-scripted picture, which follows “a group of bodybuilders who [were] engaged in a campaign of kidnapping, extortion and murder in Florida” — two roles set for a portrayal by Dwayne Johnson and Mark Wahlberg. (Even better, however, is that Ed Harris has been confirmed. Hip-hip hooray.)
Now, Variety has brought us the latest casting — and it isn’t half-bad, too. As it goes, Rob Corddry is currently negotiating to star as “John Mese, a former competitive bodybuilder who now owns the gym where Wahlberg »
