DVD Review - A Good Old Fashioned Orgy (2011)

15 May 2012 11:35 PM, PDT | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

A Good Old Fashioned Orgy, 2011.

Directed by Alex Gregory and Peter Huyck.

Starring Jason Sudeikis, Leslie Bibb, Lake Bell, Michelle Borth, Nick Kroll, Tyler Labine, Lindsay Sloane, Lucy Punch, Will Forte and Don Johnson.

Synopsis:

When his father announces that he's selling his beach house, a thirty-something party animal famous for throwing lavish themed summer parties at the property decides to go out with a proverbial bang, organising a good old fashioned orgy for his close circle of friends.

For a film called A Good Old Fashioned Orgy, the output either needs to be outrageously sexual or ridiculously funny. This film turns out, eventually, to be neither.

The film starts off so promisingly, delivering a stream of constant laughs and one-liners from the cream of some of American TV’s top sitcoms such as The League, Children’s Hosptial, and 30 Rock, and combines a nice commentary and outlook on friendship, »

'Hawaii Five-0': Michelle Borth's return could strain the Catherine-McGarrett relationship

7 May 2012 3:46 PM, PDT | Zap2It - From Inside the Box | See recent Zap2It - From Inside the Box news »

The good news for "Hawaii Five-0" fans is that Michelle Borth will be a full-time part of the show next season. The bad news is that her character, Catherine Rollins, and McGarrett (Alex O'Loughlin) may be headed for some rough sailing in their relationship.

Showrunner Peter Lenkov says Catherine will join the Five-0 team next season, which means that her active duty in the Navy is likely at an end. Lenkov declined in an interview to say how she joins the squad, only that her addition "is very organic" to the show.

On the downside, though, McGarrett and Catherine may not handle that much togetherness all that well. In the five episodes Borth has appeared in previously, Catherine and McGarrett seemed pretty content together -- but that could be partly because they don't see one another very often, since she's usually at sea.

Continuing their relationship is "going to prove to be difficult, »

Episode Recap: Hawaii Five-0 - 2.16: "I Helu Pu"

14 February 2012 5:07 PM, PST | PopStar | See recent PopStar news »

The shows tries a little something different with a non-linear story telling style, jumping us back and forth in time, and while it works for some, it may not have worked for others. They've done this before, with Chin Ho's kidnapping by Hess in season one, and I really liked it. But perhaps it was this case that didn't keep me engaged. That being said, there were a lot of fun moments. We dive in with Lori (Lauren German) washing blood off her hands and freaking out in a hospital bathroom. Someone from the team has been brought into the hospital and we are supposed to think its McGarrett (Alex O'loughlin). Flashback many hours to the night before. All of our team Five-0 our dressed in their finest for Gov Denning (Richard T. Jones) latest charity soiree. Steve's on again, off again squeeze Catherine (Michelle Borth) is in town as well, »

Hawaii Five-0 Review: And Then There Were Four

14 February 2012 12:42 AM, PST | TVfanatic | See recent TVfanatic news »

"I Helu Pu:" The Reckoning

To the dismay of Lori Fan Club such as myself, it's official: she's gone. It's also official: I'll miss her, as it seemed Lori had finally found her niche in the last few episodes.

Granted, Lori's "confession" to Steve that she had let things slide due to her feeling for him felt completely contrived. I was rolling my eyes throughout the exchange. There was no need to make Lori suddenly have a half-ass confession of attraction because was leaving. It didn't add anything.

That disappointment aside, this was one of the best episodes of the season. The use of the commercial breaks to show the current events for a bit, then switching to “what happened” works really well for this type of story.

I was also glad to see Catherine Rollins (Michelle Borth) back for a visit. Given that Combat Hospital was officially cancelled in December, »
