Susanne grew up close to Vienna, Austria. Right after high school she started working at the prestigious "Volkstheater" in Vienna. On the big screen she gained international attention with a leading part in the feature "Antares".

'Antares' (dir: Goetz Spielmann) not only became Austria's submission for the Academy Awards in 2005 (Best Foreign Language Film), but was also invited to more than 30 International Film Festivals and got her nominated 'Best Young Leading Actress/Drama' for the European Young Talent Award "Undine" in 2005.

She has continued working with various acclaimed directors since then, such as Wolfgang Becker, Olivier Assayas, Jessica Hausner, Anders Ronnow Klarlund, Franz Xaver Kroetz and Peter Kern.

When "Goodnight Mommy" won the competition of the 25th Int Film festival of Ljubljana, the Jury statement was "For the condensed complexity of its storytelling, its refreshingly assertive approach to the critically neglected horror genre, for retaining several ambiguities at once and for its excellent performances - particularly that of Susanne Wuest, who for much of the film must convey so much with so little.".
"Goodnight Mommy" is, after "Antares", already the second film being submitted for an Oscar nomination (Best Foreign Language Academy Award) with Susanne Wuest in a leading role.
