NCIS Has a Restless Imagination

NCIS Has a Restless Imagination

When his hometown throws a surprise party for Pfc Thomas Hill (Jay Ellis), a week back from Afghanistan, they discover he’s been fatally stabbed.

The clues in “Restless” seemed random, taking longer than usual to form a big picture. Following the blood trail from Hill’s body, McGee and Ziva spotted a cell phone shortly before it was crushed by a steamroller. By all accounts, Tommy Hill was a model Marine, no vices or enemies to speak of, but in the last few days, he had tried to hack in the Virginia state website. Furthermore, though Hill had been away in Afghanistan, his laptop’s modem data showed it had not left Virginia. Tony and McGee followed the modem data to a $50,000 stash buried in the woods.

I didn’t know what to make of these clues until Abby recovered surveillance photos from the crushed cell phone. »

The Asylum's Born Bad Looks Eerily Familiar: First Trailer and Poster

23 September 2011 1:49 PM, PDT | 28 Days Later Analysis | See recent 28 Days Later Analysis news »

The Asylum is ready to spread more of their mental illness with their film Born Bad. This latest horror flick is from director Jared Cohn (Revenants) and stars Meredith Monroe, Bonnie Dennison, Michael Welch, Gerald Webb and Bill Oberst Jr. In the film, much like 1996's Fear, an innocent girl brings home a seemingly charming boyfriend. However, this new beau is more serial killer than companion. Strangely, both Fear and Born Bad share similar plot points and The Asylum is known for knocking off big blockbusters. This reviewer has not seen the film, so horror fans will have to make the final call when Born Bad releases on DVD November 8th. Enjoy or throw stones at the film's trailer below.

As an aside, The Asylum was sued in late 2009 by Winchester Mystery House, LLC (PRWeb). The litigants and owners of Winchester House hold property in California in the form of a "State Historical Landmark. »

Stake Land and Finding Meaning: A Movie Review

3 May 2011 8:00 AM, PDT | 28 Days Later Analysis | See recent 28 Days Later Analysis news »

*Full disclosure: a DVD screener of this film was provided by IFC Films and Brigade Marketing.

Director: Jim Mickle.

Writers: Jim Mickle and Nick Damici.

Stake Land is a collaboration of Glass Eye Pix, Dark Sky Films and IFC Films. Released April 22nd theatrically and through cable providers, Stake Land takes human struggles and puts them on a religious stage. The message is clear; man's greatest threat is himself, especially when that man comes preaching of God. What remains is a character driven film, which often creates a tense environment, through the conflicts of a group of survivors and a Christian cult, called the Brotherhood. The eighty eight minute runtime flashes by too quickly and the film ends in a suitable dramatic fashion.

Martin (Connor Paolo) hears his parents killed by a hideous beast, in an exterior garage. A stranger by the name of Mister comes to his aid. »

Stake Land Viral - The Uprising Has Begun

8 April 2011 4:21 PM, PDT | DreadCentral.com | See recent Dread Central news »

While stumbling around the cyber maze for our weekly Wtf Friday video feature, we came across a pretty bitching untitled viral video that does a hell of a lot more than just bare its fangs.

Upon doing some digging (well okay, all we really did was click the "Show More" button on YouTube), it's become apparent that said viral is actually a video for Jim Mickle’s post-apocalyptic vampire tale Stake Land (review here). Having just watched the flick, we can honestly say this vampire tale is pretty damned epic. As you'll see from the video, these creatures aren't the usual sparkling, brooding, pretty forever-teens that have been jammed down our throats over the last several years. They're blissfully ugly, unabashedly vicious, and just what we needed!

To keep track of this vampire uprising, keep an eye on the On to New Eden website.

As if You Need a Movie Title to Know The Asylum Was Born Bad

20 March 2011 12:26 AM, PDT | DreadCentral.com | See recent Dread Central news »

While The Asylum's priorites in recent years have focused on mockbusters and outlandish "mega" movies, raunchy sex comedies, and even some Christian baiting flicks to boot, one should not forget that in the beginning they actually churned out original horror. Could Born Bad be a return to their early days?

The Asylum has just announced the thriller Born Bad starring Meredith Monroe (pictured; "Dawson's Creek", "Criminal Minds"), Bonnie Dennison (Stake Land, "Guiding Light"), Michael Welch (The Twilight Saga, "Joan of Arcadia"), and David Chokachi ("Baywatch", "Witchblade").

"When a rebellious girl from a good family falls for the town drifter, she unwittingly brings a psychopath into her loving home."

That's all we know at this time about the thriller from actor turned writer-director Jared Cohn, who years ago had small roles in such Asylum originals as Way of the Vampire and Legion of the Dead. Given the vagueness of that premise, »
