Fox Expels Tina Fey's Cabot College

18 August 2014 2:01 PM, PDT | TVLine.com | See recent TVLine.com news »

Tina Fey’s Cabot College failed to make the grade at Fox.

In a rare misfire for the 30 Rock star, the network has passed on the half-hour comedy from Fey and her frequent collaborators Robert Carlock and Matt Hubbard, Variety reports.

The project, which was to star Asif Ali, Margaret Cho, Fortune Feimster, Jack Cutmore-Scott and Bonnie Dennison, centered on a women’s college that started accepting men for the first time.

Fox, under then-president Kevin Reilly, gave Cabot College a straight-to-series order last summer. Ultimately, only a pilot episode was shot.

Fox Passes on Tina Fey-Produced Comedy ‘Cabot College’

18 August 2014 1:30 PM, PDT | Variety - TV News | See recent Variety - TV News news »

The Fox network has taken a pass on the comedy “Cabot College,” produced by the “30 Rock” duo of Tina Fey and Robert Carlock for Universal Television.

Project from Universal TV had received a series commitment from Fox but never got a formal greenlight for production after the pilot was shot last spring. Matt Hubbard, another “30 Rock” alum, penned the script set at a women’s college that begins accepting men for the first time.

Asif Ali, Margaret Cho, Jack Cutmore-Scott and Bonnie Dennison toplined the pilot. It’s unclear if Universal TV plans to shop the project to other outlets.

Fey and Carlock also have a midseason order from NBC for the Ellie Kemper starrer “Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt.”

Review: Beneath (Blu-ray)

25 March 2014 2:36 PM, PDT | DailyDead | See recent DailyDead news »

They thought they were friends. A man-eating fish proved them wrong. In director Larry Fessenden’s Beneath, six recently graduated high school friends cross paths with a massive, sharp-toothed fish on the secluded Black Lake. Confronted with a life-or-death situation, the teens discover how weak their bond really is as tempers rise, panic sets in, and the fish opens its jaws for the next meal.

Warned not to go out on Black Lake by family friend Mr. Parks (Mark Margolis), Johnny (Daniel Zovatto) leads his pack of pals out on the water one morning, anyway, figuring they’ll just cross to the other side in their rowboat. Besides, this is his big chance to reconnect with ex-girlfriend Kitty (Bonnie Dennison), even though her alpha male current boyfriend Matt (Chris Conroy) is along for the ride. Matt’s academic scholarship-receiving brother Simon (Jonny Orsini) also pines for Kitty, while sporty Deb »
