Last Comic Standing” alumna Taylor Tomlinson is on the road to getting her own show. Deadline reports that the stand-up comedian has a semi- autobiographical series in development at ABC. She’ll star in and co-write the project.

Currently untitled, the story centers on a young woman who tries to maintain a close relationship with her very religious parents while figuring out “how she wants to live her own life — which might involve touching someone else’s body, no matter what they told her at Bible Camp — all while acting as a surrogate mother to her new roommates — her two younger sisters,” the source details.

Becky Mann and Audra Sielaff (“The Real O’Neals,” “One Day at a Time”) penned the script alongside Tomlinson and are among the comedy’s executive producers. Tomlinson will serve as co-executive producer.

Laverne Cox Makes the Political Personal in Transgender Bathroom Documentary ‘Gavin Grimm Vs.’ — Watch

  • Indiewire
All Gavin Grimm wanted — like so many kids, teenagers, and people just like him — was to use the restroom in peace. When he came out as transgender to his public school in Gloucester, Virginia, the school allowed him to use the boys’ bathroom for seven weeks. His fellow students took no issue with it; it was only after a few parents found out that the school amended their decision, offering him his own unisex bathroom in a converted broom closet.

In 2015, the Aclu filed a sex discrimination suit on Grimm’s behalf against the Gloucester County Public Schools. In October 2016, the Supreme Court agreed to hear Grimm’s case, but reversed course in Feburary 2017, once the Department of Justice withdrew Obama-era Title IX protections based on gender identity.

“First, television has never seen a trans person, certainly with the age I am and with the body that I have, naked on television,” says Alexandra Billings, who plays Davina. “There is a care that Jill and the writers took -- it wasn’t about fetishizing or sexualizing, and it wasn’t desexualized. It was simple, plain conversation.”

Soloway, who identifies as nonbinary and uses the pronoun “they,” began Transparent pulling from their own experiences with their

Chance the Rapper Became a Television Critic at the Emmys and Put the Industry on Blast — Watch
The Emmys were dominated by an incredible batch of winners (Ann Dowd! Donald Glover!) and a very unfortunate cameo from Sean Spicer, but the one moment that’s not getting nearly enough attention is Chance the Rapper’s surprise appearance in Stephen Colbert’s pre-taped introduction. The three-time Grammy winner was featured in a quick aside where he performed a couple verses that basically turned him into a socially-conscious television critic. Anyone familiar with Chance was hardly surprised.

Chance’s Emmys rap has been written out below (via Entertainment Weekly):

I love television, it’s a pleasant distraction

But just imagine taking action.

I like ‘Brooklyn Nine-Nine,’ in fact, I’m addicted

But where’s the cop show where one gets convicted?

I miss the classics, I still think ‘M.A.S.H.’ rocks

He even invited her to make a guest appearance on his show Black-ish. Rachel Bloom also joked about reselling her Gucci dress, which she paid for herself, and Sofia Vergara was spotted with a mini fan attached to her smartphone to keep cool in the Los Angeles heat.  Host Stephen Colbert then kicked off the show with a memorable...

We Ranked All the Silver Dresses Seen at the 2017 Emmys
It's not a Hollywood red carpet without a shimmery crop of silver or metallic dresses. It's a staple of award show fashion—and we get why: There's an inherent wow-factor that comes with wearing the trend. It's no wonder several stars at the 2017 Emmys outfitted themselves in shine. As these stars proved, you don't need to wear head-to-toe sequins to win this look either. Celebs, like Thandie Newton and Yara Shahidi, were bedazzled in the most subtle way. Then, there were stars, like Laverne Cox and Sarah Paulson, for whom there's no such thing as too much glamour. Like prior years, it was a sea of sequins and shine. Everyone—from Priyanka Chopra to Ariel Winter—stunned, but...

Emmys: Television Stars Take Fashion Risks on the Red Carpet

Emmys: Television Stars Take Fashion Risks on the Red Carpet
Stars of the small screen kicked off television’s biggest night with bold fashion statements on the Emmys red carpet.

White seemed to be the standout shade on the red carpet, with “Stranger Things” breakout Millie Bobby Brown, who is nominated for supporting actress in a drama, stunning in a belted gown. “SNL” nominee Kate McKinnon also turned out in a pearly dress, as did chef Sandra Lee and “Man Men” alum and “Feud” actress Kiernan Shipka. Per usual, Sofia Vergara turned heads in a white strapless number.

Red gowns were just as prominent, with “Big Little Lies” nominee Nicole Kidman and Yvonne Strahovski of “Handmaid’s Tale” dazzling in the signature color. Also donning red were Issa Rae, Gina Rodriguez, Edie Falco, and Sonequa Martin.

Heidi Klum effortlessly pulled off a trademark red shade in a slit gown, with “Transparent” nominee Judith Light, Ariel Winter, Jessica Biel rocking bold slits as well. Padma Lakshmi
