After the death of their daughter, the Hughes family decide to move to their isolated cottage to try and rebuild their life together. They soon find their patience quickly tested by the overly friendly advances of their neighbours - a family that bear a striking resemblance to themselves. Starring Selma Blair (Cruel Intentions, Hellboy), Joshua Close (The Exorcism of Emily Rose, The Pacific), Rachel Miner (Californication, Supernatural) and James D'Arcy (Cloud Atlas, Hitchcock), In Their Skin will shred your nerves, haunt your mind and definitely make you think twice about inviting people to dinner ever again… »

A home invasion thriller with an awkward setup, In Their Skin stars Selma Blair and Josh Close as parents, Mary and Mark Hughes, facing tragedy with their young son at their secluded vacation home. Close, who I barely remember from The Exorcism of Emily Rose, is pretty solid as the distant and heartbroken father dealing with the death of his daughter by burying himself in work. Blair's always been a solid performer in stuff like Hellboy and The Sweetest Thing (don't judge me, that movie is hysterical), but here she's upped her game a bit, the perfect counter to Close in that she's a bit more emotional and high-strung.

Chicago – I may never know how “In Their Skin” came into being, but I have a pretty good theory. Screenwriter/star Josh Close was so appalled by the unapologetic bleakness of Michael Haneke’s “Funny Games” that he took it upon himself to make the exact same movie, more or less, but with a much happier ending. It’s a noble effort but every bit as pointless as Rod Lurie’s proudly non-misogynistic remake of “Straw Dogs.”
Perhaps Close was so offended by the killers’ blasé approach to offing a rich family in Haneke’s film that he wanted to illustrate how white upper class folk are every bit as prone to suffering as the rest of us. “We’re not perfect!” shouts Close at his captor, a ruthless madman hell-bent on stealing his identity. Instead of finding their home invaded by two creepy male sociopaths, the innocent trio of »

Home invasion movies scare the hell out of me. Just the idea of someone invading your personal space and threatening you and/or your family scares me much more than monsters, aliens or any other type of creature that might inhabit a horror film. With that being said, like most horror fans, I’m drawn to what scares me. Anytime a home invasion movie comes my way, you can definitely color me interested and optimistic. I loved 2008′s The Strangers, both versions of Haneke’s Funny Games, 2006′s Ils and pretty much most of any other entries into the subgenre. Luckily, Jeremy Power Regimbal’s In Their Skin (formerly titled Replicas), lives up to most of the standards set by previous films of the sort.
In Their Skin follows Mark and Mary Hughes (Diary Of The Dead and The Master‘s Joshua Close and Hellboy‘s Selma Blair), who along »

Oscar Winners Anthony Hopkins and Helen Mirren* are spellbinding in this provocative story about the making of one of cinema’s most iconic films. Plagued by both a reckless ego and nagging self-doubt, Hollywood legend Alfred Hitchcock (Hopkins) becomes obsessed with a grisly murder story that the studios won’t back. Determined, he risks his reputation, his home and even the love of his wife Alma (Mirren), as he sets out to make the film. »

After a tragic family accident, Mark (Close) and Mary Hughes (Blair) retreat with their son to the family’s vacation home in the woods. They are wakened early the next morning by their new neighbors, Bobby (James D’Arcy, Hitchcock) and Jane Sakowski (Rachel Miner, TV’s Sons of Anarchy), who invite themselves over for dinner.
