Bobby Doerr

Elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1986.
Played second base for the Boston Red Sox (1937-1944, 1946-1951). Did not play in 1945 due to military service during WWII.
He once held the American League record for handling 414 chances without an error.
Signed by Hall-of-Famer Eddie Collins the same day as Ted Williams.
Ted Williams said that Doerr was "the silent captain of the Red Sox."
His middle name was a tribute to Gen.
