Mini Biography

Lauren Versel is a founding member of Lucky Monkey Pictures and has over twenty- five years of experience in film, television, and theater as a writer, director, editor, producer and financier. She recently completed Lucky Monkey's, VAMPS, written and directed by Amy Heckerling (Clueless, Fast Times at Ridgemont High), produced by Lauren and Stuart Cornfeld, (Dodgeball, Tropic Thunder) starring Alicia Silverstone, Sigourney Weaver, Krysten Ritter, Wally Shawn, Malcolm McDowell, Richard Lewis and Justin Kirk. She is a producer on City Island, starring Andy Garcia, Julianna Margulies, Alan Arkin and Emily Mortimer. Lauren is also an executive producer on Arbitrage, currently in post-production, written and directed by Nicholas Jarecki, starring Richard Gere, Tim Roth, and Susan Sarandon. Other highlights from the LMP slate that Lauren will produce include Married and Cheating, written and directed by Raymond De Felitta, produced by Lauren and Michael London, starring John Cusack, Sarah Jessica Parker and Marisa Tomei, Untouched, produced by Lucky Monkey partner Maria Teresa Arida , Lauren, Lucia Seabra and Ealing Studios, directed by Andrucha Waddington (House Of Sand) starring Keira Knightly, Land of Enchantment, written and directed by Andrew Fleming (The Craft, Dick, Hamlet 2), and the English language remake of the Brazilian film, O Invasor (The Trespasser) written by Brett Easton Ellis and produced with Laura Bickford (Traffic).

Lauren has worked extensively in all aspects of the industry. As a screenwriter, she has collaborated with many noted producers, directors and actors, including Barry Levinson, John Frankenheimer, David Brown, and Bill Murray. As a television producer and editor, she has delivered many hours of documentary, news and narrative television for CBS, PBS, NBC, MTV, and HBO. She also wrote, directed, and produced the off Broadway hit, "The Barbie Project."

Lauren is currently a contributing member to New York Women in Film and Television.
