Heroes Reborn: Greg Grunberg to return as Matt Parkman

22 May 2015 12:10 AM, PDT | Den of Geek | See recent Den of Geek news »

Telepathic detective Matt Parkman – as played by Greg Grunberg - will be returning to Heroes Reborn, it’s been confirmed…

As you probably guessed from the title and accompanying image of this article, Greg Grunberg will be reprising his role as telepathic detective Matt Parkman in NBC’s upcoming Heroes Reborn, the continuation of the original Heroes series.

Greg Grunberg’s character will have a ‘guest arc’ in the new series, which we suppose could mean anything than a string of fan-service cameos to a strong self-contained story. Naturally, we won’t know the full extent of Matt Parkman’s role in proceedings until we seem them play out on TV.

“This highly anticipated 13-episode event series will reconnect with the basic elements of the show’s first season, where ordinary people were waking up to the fact that they had extraordinary abilities,” but also “develops new layers to [returning creator Tim Kring’s] original superhero concept, »

Greg Grunberg is returning as the telepathic detective, Matt Parkman, in NBC's Heroes Reborn. The Heroes follow-up chronicles the lives of ordinary people who discover they possess extraordinary abilities. Grunberg joins returning cast members Masi Oka as Hiro NakamuraJimmy Jean-Louis as The Haitian and Jack Coleman as Noah Bennet, aka The Man in Horn Rimmed Glasses, as well as newcomers Zachary LeviRyan Guzman, Robbie Kay, Danika Yarosh,Judith Shekoni, Kiki SukezaneHenry Zebrowski and Gatlin Green. EW broke the news that Grunberg will have a "guest arc" on Heroes Reborn. Hopefully, his role will be more than a fan-service appearance, as I'd hate to see the new series get bogged down in the ultimately unsatisfying mythology of the original. Heroes debuted at a very different time in the media landscape, before the superhero saturation really kicked off. We had X-Men, we had Spider-Man, but there was no regular programing of comic book adaptations, »

Greg Grunberg to Return for 'Heroes Reborn'

21 May 2015 9:45 AM, PDT | Moviefone | See recent Moviefone news »

NBC seems to be working hard to populate its upcoming "Heroes" reboot, "Heroes Reborn," with plenty of familiar faces from the original series, and that casting pattern continues with the addition of Greg Grunberg to the ensemble.

Entertainment Weekly reports that Grunberg, who played telepathic detective Matt Parkman on the original show, is set to reprise his role on "Reborn." According to EW, his involvement is being described as a "guest arc," so it's unclear at this point just how big of a part he will play in the new series (or how many episodes he'll appear in).

So far, Grunberg's fellow "Heroes" alums Masi Oka and Jack Coleman have also been tapped to return for "Reborn." They join newbie Zachary Levi ("Chuck"), who's playing an undisclosed role.

There's a lot of secrecy surrounding the show right now (check out the series's first, extremely short teaser for proof of that »
