My Father’s Dragon, the next movie from Wolfwalkers animation studio Cartoon Saloon, and Little Nicolas, which last spring won the top prize at Annecy, are among the films named to the competition lineup of the Animation Is Film Festival, which kicks off Oct. 21 in Hollywood.
Little Nicolas, helmed by Amandine Fredon and Benjamin Massoubre, is an animated adaptation of the children’s series by Rene Goscinny and Jean-Jacques Sempe. My Father’s Dragon, helmed by Oscar nominee Nora Twomey (The Breadwinner), is based on Ruth Stiles Gannett’s children’s book of the same name and will be released this fall on Netflix.

Paris-based Les Films du Losange has boarded world sales and French distribution on Norwegian animation project Titina, which is lead produced by Oslo-based production house Mikrofilm.
The film revolves around the adventures of a real-life fox terrier called Titina, who gained celebrity status in the 1920s when she accompanied her master, the Italian aeronautic engineer Umberto Nobile, and Norwegian explorer Roald Amundsen on an expedition to conquer the North pole in an airship.

Nordisk Film & TV Fond has announced three features, two series and a documentary set to receive $1.4m in financing, as well as distribution, dubbing and cultural initiative support recipients. Doing so, it highlights some of the key titles moving forward in the Nordic region.
Already backed by the Danish Film Institute’s largest ever grant of $2.4m, another $8.6m from Danish broadcaster TV2 and Sf Studios, Ole Bornedal’s WWII drama “Shadows in My Eyes” will receive a further $333,000 from the Nordisk Film & TV Fond, cementing it as one of the country’s most ambitious features to date.
In 1945, the Royal Air Force, intending to take out a Gestapo headquarters in Copenhagen, mistakenly bombed a French school, killing several children and nuns. “Shadows in My Eyes” will focus on the contrast of innocence versus machines and the children whose lives were irrevocably changed through the tragic error.
