At Comic-Con, I recently joined the press room for A&E's The Omen sequel series, Damien, where, along with a handful of journalists, I caught up with writer/executive producer Glen Mazzara and cast members Bradley James, Barbara Hershey, and Scott Wilson, who discussed the upcoming adult Antichrist series.
Glen Mazzara on the tone of the show:
"It is realistic, we're using the original 1976 film as the source not only of the story but of the style of filmmaking. That film was very grounded, it felt like it was taking place in the world and so we're trying to follow that, you know? I think that's what makes the horror play. If you feel that it's real. Once something becomes very involved, very dependent on special effects, I tend to feel not as frightened, to tell you the truth. So we're trying to stay as realistic feeling as possible.

First shown at Comic-Con, the above trailer introduces the premise of the show: Damien, the son in question, is now an adult, somehow still ignorant of his devilish nature, but soon will discover his true identity. The series promises eerie flashbacks in addition to the over-the-top, intense horror elements expected from a show produced by Glen Mazzara of "The Walking Dead." Hopefully, "Damien" will be better than the classic film's 2006 remake of the same name. No premiere date has been announced yet, but 10 episodes have been ordered up by A&E. A&E have debuted the first trailer for "Damien," the new TV series follow-up to the original 1976 "The Omen" with former "Merlin" star Bradley James taking on the role of the Antichrist-to-be Damien Thorne. In the new take, he's now a thirty-year-old war photographer who has forgotten everything about his past.
Glen Mazzara ("The Walking Dead," "The Shield") produces the series which he calls "grounded" and realistic. There'll be some special effects dealing with Damien's powers, but for the most part they're subtle.
Speaking at Comic Con earlier today, James says this version's Damien is aware that "there are strange things going on, and his life is not what other people’s lives seem to be." The first season will essentially deal with his struggle between his regular-guy humanity and the destiny that Lucifer planned for him after he learns the truth.
One of the factors will be his »

The panel showed a clip with Wilson from Damien before bringing the actor out. Wilson has been a frequent presence at Sdcc the past few years, but this is the first… »

A&E has released a new trailer for the upcoming horror series Damien. Based on the 1976 horror pic The Omen, this new TV series imagines Damien as an adult (played by Bradley James) and attempts to fill in the gaps from the 25 years since we last saw the child Antichrist. Glen Mazzara is the executive produce and showrunner of the series, and he’s got experience with the genre. He took over as showrunner of AMC’s The Walking Dead after Frank Darabont was fired midway through airing Season 2, only to himself depart the smash hit halfway through Season 3. But Mazarra’s TV credits also include The Shield, and with Damien he’s developed a series from inception, so it’ll be interesting to see what he put together. This new trailer shows quite a bit more footage from the series than the initial teaser did, and while I’m »

With the success of its Psycho-inspired Bates Motel, A&E is venturing further into horror territory for its Omen-inspired original series Damien. Picking up with the future Antichrist as an adult (played by Bradley James), the series looks set to deliver deeply unsettling visuals and sinister voice-overs, if this teaser is any indication.
Of course, it’s really impossible to figure out what the tone of the series is from this brief snippet, but the message is eerie all the same. “I imagine you don’t remember much,” a disembodied female voice coos. “That will change. It’s so good to see you again, Damien.”
The Rottweilers delivering that message seems like a tough sell unless the visual effects in the finished product are a little better than seen in the teaser, but this is more of an announcement than anything else. The 10-episode series, exec-produced and written by former Walking Dead shot-caller Glen Mazzara, »

Having been shifted from Lifetime to A&E a few weeks ago, the first trailer is now out for "Damien". This new TV series spin on "The Omen" essentially ignores the sequels, and acts as a direct follow-up to the 1976 classic horror tale. Filming on the ten episode first season is currently underway in Toronto ahead of an early 2016 debut on the network.
Damien Thorn (Bradley James) is now an adult who must come to grips with the haunting events of his past and must comes to terms with his true destiny - that he is the Antichrist. Barbara Hershey, Megalyn Echikunwoke and Omid Abtahi also star in the series which is written and executive produced by Glen Mazzara ("The Walking Dead," "The Shield").

Just a few weeks after the upcoming TV series Damien went from Lifetime to A&E, the show's new network home has released the first trailer, giving us our first dark look at Damien Thorn, played by Bradley James (Merlin, Homeland). The series is based on the 1976 classic horror film The Omen, following his life as an adult as he must come to grips with the haunting events of his past. Production is currently under way in Toronto on the 10-episode first season, debuting sometime next year on A&E.

A&E has unveiled the first look trailer for their The Omen inspired series, Damien, and it doesn't exactly inspire confidence. The series, which was originally developed for Lifetime, follows the adult life of Damien Thorne (Bradley James), the iconic Antichrist from the 1976 film. As the teaser's whispered voiceover indicates ("I bet you don't remember much. That will change.") Damien has grown up unaware of his fate, and the series will follow the man as he accepts his destiny. The ten-episode series is written and executive produced by former The Walking Dead showrunner Glen Mazzara. Last year, before the network switch, Lifetime Executive Vice President and General Manager Rob Sharenow described Mazarra's take on the character. “Glen Mazzara has re-imagined him as a dark, romantic, anti-hero and this fresh take blends complex characters with premium storytelling to make something truly original.” Trailer via A&E. It's obviously hard to get »

Their commitment to the lifestyle is challenged, however, when a runaway teen and an aimless young woman join their peculiar tribe. »
