Mutant Girls Squad (2010)

14 hours ago | Planet Fury | See recent Planet Fury news »

Directed by: Noboru Iguchi, Yoshihiro Nishimura, Tak Sakaguchi

Written by: Jun Tsugita

Starring: Yumi Sugimoto, Naoto Takenaka, Tak Sakaguchi, Yuko Takayama

The delightfully insane Mutant Girls Squad is the latest frenetic experience in the Japanese splatter movement.

It brings together three of the most famous filmmakers in this inexplicable subgenre for the first time. Directors Noboru Iguchi (The Machine Girl), Yoshihiro Nishimura (Vampire Girl vs. Frankenstein Girl) and Tak Sakaguchi (Samurai Zombie) have created a very wet, very funny body horror tale that is being touted as a spoof of the X-Men films. While there are a few similarities to that comic book franchise, Mutant Girls Squad is a decidedly different monster.

Rin (Yumi Sugimoto) is a timid teenager who is savagely bullied at school. Upon her 16th birthday, she discovers that she’s the progeny of a half-human, half-mutant union. This would explain why her right hand can morph »

Cracked nutcase of a genius, Japanese director. Noboru Iguchi has brought us some of the best (‘Mutant Girls Squad,’ ‘The Machine Girl,’ to name bit a few) that cult/action/exploitation cinema has to offer and whilst he’s preparing to release his latest opus of insanity Dead Sushi, this October, news has come in for a possible early English subbed source. According to Screedaily, Hong Kong’s Sundream Motion Pictures have nabbed the local right to the Sushi turns killer horror flick. It’s pretty much a cert the film will get picked up for sale in either the U.S and or U.K but always to keep your options open for an early peak. More on a release, when we get it. In the mean time, crank up the trailer, and let Sushi Attack. Dead Sushi trailer »

After attempting to deliver a Japanese film that looked to capture the Western perspective of Japanese culture with Noboru Iguchi's Robogeisha, producer Akira Yamaguchi and T.O. Entertainment have just announced their latest project: erotic horror flick Killer Motel, that hopes to put a Japanese spin on the decidedly Western slasher genre.Directed by Kazuya Ogawa, whose first film PInk Subaru won the Cinegar and Special Jury Awards at the 2011 Yubari International Film Festival, Killer Motel will star a host of gorgeous young actresses including Emi Ito, Akari Hoshino, Ren Ayase and Yuki Maeda, who we can expect to see drenched in blood, stripped to their smalls and horrifically butchered for our entertainment. Another Scatologically Satisfying Trailer for Zombie Ass: Toilet of the Dead

9 April 2012 9:04 AM, PDT | Beyond Hollywood | See recent Beyond Hollywood news »

At this point, you’ve probably already decided if director Noboru Iguchi’s “Zombie Ass: Toilet of the Dead” is something you want to watch. Personally, I can’t wait to see it, though I have very low morals when it comes to cinema. It’s hard to resist a motion picture that focuses almost strictly on feces and shapely Japanese behinds, though I’m sure the majority of you will are immune to the film’s powers. I can’t say that I blame you for sitting this one out. For those who care, here’s a needlessly lengthy synopsis: Wracked with guilt over the suicide of her sister Ai, who was tormented by high school bullies, pretty yong karate student Megumi accompanies a group of older friends on a trip into the woods: smart girl Aya, her druggie boyfriend Tak, big-boobed model Maki, and nerdy Naoi. 6 April 2012 | Horror Asylum | See recent Horror Asylum news »

Last September we bought you a some new artwork and stills from Noboru Iguchi's ('Robo-Geisha') new Japanese horror comedy 'Zombie Ass: Toilet of the Dead'. It was being tagged as 'the most crap-tastic zombie movie ever to emerge from Japan's cinema sewer' and the newly revealed trailer for the bizarre flick which has now arrived certainly fuels that label. The trailer (shown below) features hot girls farting, shit covered toilet zombies, exploding heads, puke and topless Japanese chicks. It's quite the odd mixture to take in on a Friday afternoon. The movie stars Arisa Nakamura, Mayu Sugano, Asami, Yuki, Dani, Kentaro Kishi, Kentaro Shimazu, Demo Tanaka and the gorgeous Asana Mamoru (below). I think we need to take a moment and recognize that a movie called Zombie Ass: Toilet of the Dead is a thing that exists.  This isn’t some no-budget YouTube video that some bored college kids put together, this is an actual movie that was produced for mass-consumption.  I was blissfully unaware (if only I could turn back time) of Japanese director Noboru Iguchi’s Zombie Ass until the English-language trailer was brought to my attention.  It’s insane, disgusting, Nsfw, horrifying, and insane.  You think you know what you’re getting with a title like Zombie Ass: Toilet of the Dead, but you really have no idea. If you dare, hit the jump to watch the very Nsfw trailer for Zombie Ass: Toilet of the Dead. Trailer via Movies.com Here’s the synopsis for Zombie Ass: "We are going to flush you! 2012 Boston Underground Film Festival: Official Lineup

21 March 2012 9:49 AM, PDT | Bad Lit | See recent Bad Lit news »

The 14th annual Boston Underground Film Festival is ready to kick ass and take names on March 29 to April 1 at the Brattle Theatre. And a few of those names will look familiar to Buff fanatics — and underground film fans the world over.

A trio of Buff favorites are returning to the fest with debut feature films after totally killing it with their amazing short films in the past. Jamie Heinrich‘s Happily Never After is a feature-length expansion of the short film that took home the Best of Fest Award in 2010, but with more solid and mature themes as the movie explores the problematic life of a degenerate photographer.

Another former award winner is Richard Bates Jr. who will be screening Excision, another feature-length extension of a short film, this one about a teenage girl who exercises her morbid obsession with surgery every chance she gets.

Among the special programmes at this year's Yubari International Fantastic Film Festival was a celebration of the work of Noboru Iguchi, the director of such low budget splatter classics as The Machine Girl, Robogeisha and Zombie Ass, which enjoyed its Japanese premiere at the festival. Between the deranged all-night party, that saw Iguchi and his cronies take to the stage clothed only in traditional fundoshi undergarments for a never-ending parade of games, video clips and hilarious raconteuring, to preview screenings of his latest work and rarely seen oldies, the love for Iguchi at Yubari was palpable. The 14th annual Boston Underground Film Festival has announced a few of the films they’ve already selected to screen on March 29 to April 1, including several regular Buff favorite filmmakers ready to make their spectacular return.

Most exciting is the feature film Happily Never After by Jamie Heinrich who, back in 2010, took home the Buff Best of Fest Short Award. However, this new feature is more dramatic in nature, telling the story of a lecherous photographer (Jason Carrougher) who attempts to connect with the son (Ryan Wichert) he never knew he had.

Also returning to Buff is Canadian filmmaker Steven Kostanski with his debut feature Manborg, a tribute to ’90s direct-to-video movies about a dead soldier turned into a cyborg killing machine designed to stop a demon invasion.
