Totie Fields was born on May 7, 1927 in Hartford, Connecticut, USA as Sophie Feldman. She was an actress, known for Tattletales (1974), The Hollywood Squares (1965) and The Dean Martin Celebrity Roast: Lucille Ball (1975). She was married to George William Johnston. She died on August 2, 1978 in Los Angeles, California, USA.

Her cremated remains were temporarily interred in Las Vegas until the death of her husband in the 1990's; when both were interred together in Los Angeles.
Her problems with blood clots led to her death on Aug. 2, 1978 from pulmonary embolism.
Voted entertainer of the year and female comedy star of the year by the American Guild of Variety Artists.
Suffered two heart attacks while recovering from her leg amputation.
Developed a blood clot in her left leg in April of 1976. Attempts to remove the clot failed and her left leg was amputated, above the knee.
Was a diabetic.
Was diagnosed with breast cancer the year after her amputation. She had a right mastectomy soon after.
