Crazy Spacey is Ready for 'Shrink'

17 June 2008 | ioncinema | See recent ioncinema news »

- Kevin Spacey has taken some crazy roles. His character in American Beauty has emotional trouble, to say the least, and his killer in Se7en is the thing nightmares are made of. So who could be better to play a troubled psychiatrist than Spacey? In Shrink, Spacey stars as a psychiatrist to the stars who fails to cope with his own personal tragedy. Instead, he becomes a disheveled pothead who loses faith in his practice. The famous Hollywood clients in the film are played by the nutty Robin Williams and famed author Gore Vidal, as well as Saffron Burrows, Jack Huston, Griffin Dunne, Pell James, Robert Loggia, Keke Palmer, Laura Ramsey, Dallas Roberts, and Mark Webber.Hopefully, the piece will not bare too much of a similarity to this summer's The Wackness, which is also about a pot-smoking psychiatrist.Shrink will be helmed by Jonas Pate, who recently directed three episodes of Friday Night Lights. »

Surveillance is an out of competition film at Cannes this week along with Woody Allen's "Vicky Cristina Barcelona" and Spielberg's new Indiana Jones reincarnation. That creepy little girl from David Lynch's 1977 classic Eraserhead has sure grown up. Directing her first feature since 1993's critically-slammed "Boxing Helena", "Surveillance" follows an FBI agent sent to a dreary small town to track a serial killer in the wake of a killing spree on a deserted highway. Lynch directed Bill Pullman and Julia Ormond as the FBI Agents, with Pell James, Ryan Simpkins, French Stewart and Cheri Oteri filling out the cast. But before you think FBI »
