John Krasinski Blames Thor for Why He Didn't Become Captain America

7 hours ago | Movies.com | See recent Movies.com news »

Casting a big role - the kind they name movies after - is not an easy thing. A studio will go through hundreds and thousands of actors to find the perfect fit. The audition process goes on for months, until eventually a studio has a short list of final contenders. If you'll recall, John Krasinski was on such a shortlist for the role of Captain America. It even got so far as an on-set audition with the suit and everything. And then those months and months of hard work were undone by a chance encounter with Thor himself, Chris Hemsworth. Krasinski told the funny story recently on Conan. Watch it in full below, but it basically boils down to this: Chris Hemsworth makes everyone feel inadequate, even John Krasinski. Krasinski doesn't explicitly say if he walked away...

Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston Charm Kids in Hospital as Thor and Loki (Photos)

8 hours ago | The Wrap | See recent The Wrap news »

Chris Hemsworth and Tom Hiddleston proved they are worthy of superhero titles after paying a visit to a children’s hospital in Wednesday. Although they play rivals in the Marvel sequel “Thor: Ragnarok,” the two stars joined forces and came dressed in character as Thor and Loki to chat with sick children at Lady Cilento Children’s Hospital in Brisbane, Australia. The pair were even interviewed by 11-year-old Koen for the hospital’s Juiced TV, a TV show produced by “the kids of the hospital, for the kids of the hospital.” Hemsworth (who is actually Australian) and Hiddleston (who is »

John Krasinski Reflects On His Failed Captain America: The First Avenger Audition

9 hours ago | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

It feels strange to think back on this now given how far superhero movies have come, but there was a time when the casting of characters like Captain America and Thor was taking the internet by storm. The announcement that Fantastic Four‘s Chris Evans would star in Captain America: The First Avenger came as a huge surprise, especially given the shortlist which had been doing the rounds.

Included on that list was The Office‘s John Krasinski, someone who pretty much no one was able to picture in the role at the time. Since then, he’s obviously showed his action star credentials in the 13 Hours and the upcoming Jack Ryan TV series, and the actor has now opened up for the first time about how close he came to playing the Star Spangled Avenger.

“It was a big deal for me, because first of all I love those Marvel movies. »

How Chris Hemsworth Ruined John Krasinski's Dreams Of Playing Captain America

13 hours ago | LatinoReview | See recent LatinoReview news »

The Marvel Cinematic Universe has already been around so long that it's hard to believe there was a time when Robert Downey Jr. wasn't necessarily deemed the best fit for Tony Stark -- or when Chris Evans was known as The Human Torch from Fantastic Four rather than Captain America himself.

Of course, we all know this as fact: studios hold auditions for some of their biggest roles, and names that we hear hovering around certain roles are sometimes a bit odd. Back during the casting of Cap, I remember hearing that John Krasinski was in the running. Nowadays, Krasinski has started to make a bigger name for himself. He's already directed two films (including the recent Hollars), and has even shown his worth as a bit of a badass in the Michael Bay flick 13 Hours. He's even locked down the role of Jack Ryan in the upcoming TV series from Amazon and Paramount. »

John Krasinski: Chris Hemsworth ended my superhero dreams

13 hours ago | Hitfix | See recent Hitfix news »

Chris Hemsworth doesn’t know his own powers. The man who was perfectly cast to play Thor is so strong, he can defeat Captain America with simple politeness, or at least this is how John Krasinski recalled his Captain America screen test. During an interview on Conan O’Brien’s late night talk show, Krasinski explained exactly what happened during his audition. He was about halfway through putting on the Captain America suit when things for the self-professed superhero fan went south in a hurry. “[I was] feeling pretty good about myself…All of a sudden, Chris Hemsworth walked by as Thor, and he’s like, ‘Hey mate.’ And I went, ‘I’m good, this is stupid. It’s ok, I’m not Captain America,’” Krasinski said. Krasinski didn’t let this experience deter him from fighting evildoers, not by a long shot. In fact, he’s starring in the new Jack »

Chris Hemsworth and Tom Hiddleston Delight Patients at an Australian Children's Hospital

14 hours ago | Popsugar.com | See recent Popsugar news »

It looks like Loki can use his powers for good after all. Tom Hiddleston, who plays the Thor: Ragnarok villain, took a break from his behind-the-scenes antics with costar Chris Hemsworth so the two could visit the Lady Cilento Children's Hospital in South Brisbane, Queensland, Australia on Tuesday. Although Chris and Tom weren't wearing Thor and Loki's iconic costumes, the actors still rocked their characters' hairstyles while bringing some big smiles to the adorable young patients at the hospital. In a photo of the pair posing with some children holding Thor's hammer, Tom wrote, "'Whosoever holds this hammer, if he be worthy, shall possess the power of Thor!' (i.e. everyone but the weirdo in the black suit). Unforgettable meeting all the children @ladycilentochildrenshospital. They're the real heroes." Chris also gave the kids a shout-out on Instagram by calling them "the real superheroes of the world," and saying that »

If you film 'Thor: Ragnarok' in public, you're gonna get spoilers

14 hours ago | Hitfix | See recent Hitfix news »

Sometimes a movie films in utter secrecy. And sometimes it films on the public streets of Brisbane, Australia. Can you guess which one of those options Thor: Ragnarok chose? Whether you knew the latest Thor movie is currently in production because Marvel co-president Louis D’Eposito announced it on Twitter or because you follow the latest Taylor Swift gossip, the point is Asgardians are down under in the land of Hemsworths. Since then, director Taika Waititi has been filming scenes outside. In broad daylight. Which meant it was only a matter of time before photos made their way online. Warning: Spoilers For Thor: Ragnarok Beyond This Point. It began innocently enough. Marvel themselves teased the return of Thor (Chris Hemsworth) and Loki (Tom Hiddleston) as dysfunctional brothers.   Just sellin papers with my mate @twhiddleston #parttimejob #thorragnarok @taikawaititi (via @chrishemsworth) A photo posted by Marvel Studios (@marvelstudios) on Aug 21, 2016 at 5: »

Thor: Ragnarok Stars Take Mjolnir to Australian Children's Hospital

Last week, Spider-Man: Homecoming star Tom Holland suited up as Spidey to visit a local Atlanta Children's Hospital while on-location shooting the Marvel Phase 3 adventure. The superhero charity train continued this week, as Thor: Ragnarok stars took a break from shooting their sequel to drop in on some unexacting kids. And trust us, they were all very excited!

Tom Hiddleston showed up at the Lady Cilento Children's Hospital wearing the same black suit he's been spotted shooting in on the streets of Brisbane this past week. He was accompanied by co-star and leading man Chris Hemsworth, who dropped by this Australia hospital in Thor's civilian wardrobe. He didn't need his Asgardian armor to be immediately recognized by the patients, though!

Marvel Studios and Chris Hemsworth shared photos from the fun meet and greet, which included an appearance by Thor's mighty hammer Mjolnir. The Thor pair even appeared on »

Review: The Huntsman: Winter’s War

23 August 2016 11:29 AM, PDT | Comicmix.com | See recent Comicmix news »

Fairy Tales are also cautionary tales, a way to teach morals and values to children at a time when the majority of the populace couldn’t read or write. It wasn’t until the last four centuries or so when we began writing it all down and solidifying the variations. Even today, people take the classics and reinterpret them for new generations, bringing in modern themes and issues, making them more relevant.

The cautionary tale to take from The Huntsman: Winter’s War is that you have to have something interesting to say. The preceding film, Snow White and the Huntsman, gave us a revisionist Snow White in the form of plucky Kristen Stewart, a modern day action heroine that made her a proactive player in the classic German tale.

Given behind the scenes shenanigans, Stewart was out of the proposed sequel with the emphasis shifting to the Huntsman (Chris Hemsworth »

23 August 2016 10:58 AM, PDT | MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news »

Yesterday, production on Marvel's highly-anticipated Thor: Ragnarok shifted from Village Roadshow Studios in Queensland, Australia, to a location shoot in Brisbane, Australia. We learned in set photos that surfaced this weekend that Brisbane will be doubling for New York City, but we didn't know why both Thor (Chris Hemsworth) and Loki (Tom Hiddleston) had come to the Big Apple. Today that mystery may have been solved with even more set photos that offer our first look at Anthony Hopkins. There will be potential Spoilers below, so read on at your own risk.

Long before production started on Thor 3, producer and Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige teased that the story will largely take place in the cosmos, but he did hint that part of the story would take place here on Earth. When he's not busy being an adorable dad and a devoted husband, Chris Hemsworth is making time to mingle with some of his biggest fans, no matter how little they are. The actor is currently hard at work filming Thor: Ragnarok in Brisbane, Australia, but during some downtime on set on Tuesday, he approached a group of fans waiting to catch a glimpse of the film's stars behind a barrier. Chris, who was still rocking his Thor hair, chatted with a young boy dressed as Captain America. He later posted the photo on Instagram and used it as the perfect excuse to make fun of pal Chris Evans, who plays Captain America in the Marvel films. "Chris Evans chose not to work out for the next avengers movie, all good he's still awesome #thorragnarok #thor #captainamerica #avengers #youthfulskin." While his name was absent from the official production announcement, a new photo has emerged from the New York set of Thor Ragnarok, which confirms that Anthony Hopkins will be reprising the role of Odin in next year’s third solo outing for the God of Thunder.

Back in January, it was rumoured that Odin has fled Asgard following the events of Thor: The Dark World, and would be wandering around Midgard “as one of those crazy-looking ‘the end is nigh’ street-corner hobos”. Well, as you can see, it looks like that rumour was on the money…
