How ‘Gleason’ Director Clay Tweel Turned 1,300 Hours of Footage Into an Oscar Contender

19 August 2016 10:10 AM, PDT | Indiewire | See recent Indiewire news »

In 2010, when New Orleans Saint defensive star Steve Gleason first learned of his Als diagnosi,  his wife Michel was pregnant. Instinctively, he picked up a camera and started talking to his yet-to-be-born son — and so began the documentation of a man’s determination to tackle his disease head-on. In 2012, Gleason brought aboard local filmmaker David Lee and Ty Minton-Small, a longtime friend, who embedded themselves in the Gleasons’ home and captured the ex-football player as he faced rapidly deteriorating physical abilities, spent time with his son River and reconciled with his father.

By the time director Clay Tweel (“Finders Keepers”) started working on the film in March of 2015, over 1,200 hours of footage had been shot. Tweel’s job: Craft it into a story.

Director Clay Tweel Talks the Universality of ‘Gleason’ and Gaining a New Perspective on Life

1 August 2016 6:36 AM, PDT | The Film Stage | See recent The Film Stage news »

Gleason follows the life of ex-nfl football player Steve Gleason and his battle with Als through video journals and, later, camera footage. Gleason is the star here as his honesty is what draws one in. He has been described as a warrior poet and that description definitely applies. His travels with his wife are sure to pull at the emotional strings, but the film also feels honest in its intent and drive. That is largely due to Gleason and the people around him, but also to director Clay Tweel. It was a great pleasure to talk with Tweel as I asked him about the practicalities of financing a film like this, how involved Gleason and his wife were, and what his goal was in the making of this documentary. Enjoy the full conversation below.

Uncharted movie back on, Joe Carnahan joins project

31 July 2016 10:00 PM, PDT | Den of Geek | See recent Den of Geek news »

Simon Brew Aug 1, 2016

The movie of Uncharted takes a big step forward - but it may yet have consequences for Bad Boys 3...

Things have been dormant where the big screen version of the Uncharted videogame series has been concerned for a little while now. Sony has the film locked in for a release date of June 30th 2017 but the chances of it hitting that look incredibly slim.

That said, there’s been the first sign of progress in some time. Uncharted might just be edging closer.

Joe Carnahan, the director of Narc, The Grey and The A-Team movie, has now boarded the project as its new screenwriter. He’s the latest in a queue of people to try and bring Uncharted to the screen. It's unclear right now if his script will start from scratch.

Carnahan isn’t directing the movie as of yet, but according to Variety, that »

Uncharted Movie Roars Back to Life with New Writer Joe Carnahan

29 July 2016 4:03 PM, PDT | MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news »

After nearly seven years in development, Sony's Uncharted movie adaptation is moving forward once again. The studio has brought on writer-director Joe Carnahan to write the script for this video game adaptation, but unfortunately he won't be directing at this time. The filmmaker stated that he would love to direct this project "in a perfect world," but right now, he's only set to write the script.

The last we heard about this project was in June 2015, when Seth Gordon dropped out as the director. Variety reports that Joe Carnahan's involvement with Sony's Bad Boys 3, which starts filming early next year after Will Smith wraps on Bright, makes the filmmaker unavailable to direct. Here's what Joe Carnahan told the site about this project.

"In a perfect world I would love to do both, but right now, I'm only on board to write the script. Archaeology today is in itself an antiquity, »

Joe Carnahan To Write Not Direct The Uncharted Movie

29 July 2016 1:22 PM, PDT | LatinoReview | See recent LatinoReview news »

According to Variety, Sony Pictures has hired Joe Carnahan to write the latest draft of the script for its adaptation of the popular video game Uncharted. The popular video game follows treasure hunter Nathan Drake, descendant of famed explorer Sir Francis Drake, as he journeys on expeditions through lost ancient cities in search of untold treasures and artifacts.

Carnahan was just hired to write the project but not direct it as he is unable due to the fact that he will be directing Bad Boys 3 next. Production on the sequel gears up early next year, which reunites Will Smith and Martin Lawrence.

Variety had a chance to talk to Carnahan about the project:

In a perfect world I would love to do both, but right now, I’m only on board to write the script. “Archaeology today is in itself an antiquity, but that world has always fascinated me. »

Sony’s Long-Gestating Uncharted Movie Enlists Joe Carnahan To Pen Script

29 July 2016 12:52 PM, PDT | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

Bad Boys 3 director Joe Carnahan has been brought aboard to pen the latest draft for Sony’s Uncharted movie, Variety has learned.

More than one year one from the departure of Seth Gordon, this is the first tangible sign of progress to come out of the video game movie in some time, and had scheduling arrangements fallen in his favor, Carnahan told the outlet that he would have gone one step further and took Gordon’s vacant place at the helm. “In a perfect world I would love to do both, but right now, I’m only on board to write the script,” he said.

Buoyed by the recent launch of Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End, Carnahan’s appointment seems to represent a new drive at Sony to nudge the long-gestating project out of development limbo. That, and the filmmaker’s own interest in the swashbuckling adventures of »

Baywatch Gets Patriotic With All-New Motion Poster

4 July 2016 11:50 AM, PDT | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

Though his Instagram feed has acted as a hub for all things Fast 8 in recent weeks, Dwayne Johnson has shared an appropriately patriotic shot of the Baywatch crew to coincide with the July 4 celebrations in the States.

With sparkler in hand, it is Johnson’s musclebound Mitch Buchannon who anchors the ensemble – replete with Uncle Sam hat – and below you’ll also find Jon Bass, Alex Daddario, Zac Efron, Kelly Rohrbach and Ilfenesh Hadera among the lineup.

There’s also room for Priyanka Chopra’s chief villain. An archetypal suit, the lifeguards will be going toe-to-toe with a greedy oil tycoon hellbent on exploiting the Bay for corporate interests. Enter The Rock and Co, henceforth known as the Baywatch family.

On May 19th, 2017 you will witness these amazing women @kellyrohrbach @alexannadaddario @priyankachopra @ilfenator save lives, @thejonbass steal the show, @zacefron’s ripped 28 pack abs and some big, brown, bald »

20 June 2016 1:11 PM, PDT | MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news »

Yesterday was Father's Day, with dads all around the world being celebrated for raising their kids the right way. Dwayne Johnson decided to get in the Father's Day spirit by unveiling a new poster for his highly-anticipated reboot of Baywatch. The Rock is joined by co-star Jon Bass on this poster, which encourages father's everywhere to rock their "dad bods."

As you can see in this post from Dwayne Johnson's Twitter, not every "dad bod" is not the same. Dwayne Johnson is strikingly chiseled, as usual, while Jon Bass rocks a more traditional "dad bod". We still don't know exactly who Jon Bass is playing yet, but it has been confirmed that Dwayne Johnson is playing Mitch Buchannon, a role originally portrayed by David Hasselhoff in the iconic Baywatch TV series.

Dwayne Johnson and Jon Bass will be joined by Zac Efron as Matt Brody, a cocky newcomer who »
