Part 2 of our Exclusive Coverage of the Chillerama World Premiere

19 September 2011 12:26 PM, PDT | DreadCentral.com | See recent Dread Central news »

Dread Central hit the world premiere of the Image Entertainment and Ariescope Pictures anthology film Chillerama at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery in Hollywood, California, last Thursday, September 15th (see Part 1 here), and today we bring you Part 2 of our coverage. In this installment we provide interviews with one of the film's directors, Adam Rifkin, and cast members Lin Shaye, Gabby West, Kristina Klebe and more!

“We wanted from the start to make a movie that was a love letter to the movies that we loved growing up,” director Rifkin told us of their approach to the horror-comedy that is Chillerama, “(the type) that you don’t see getting made that often anymore and that you don’t see getting played that often anymore. When I was growing up in Chicago, they played these types of movies constantly on this show called ‘The Son of Svengoolie’, and that’s where I »

Read on for Part 1 of our coverage and some ocular candy!

For those unfamiliar with Hollywood Forever, the cemetery has in recent years become a mecca for cineastes with summer film screenings taking place on its grounds nearly every weekend (films are projected onto the wall of its massive mausoleum). Hundreds gather for these events, and last night was no exception. Food trucks abounded as the vociferous audience - toting blankets and bottles of wine - set up on the lawn in anticipation. Clive Barker Thought That 'Hellraiser: Revelations' Trailer Sucked Too

23 August 2011 1:03 PM, PDT | The Playlist | See recent The Playlist news »

So here's the long and short of it, in order for Dimension to keep the rights to the "Hellraiser" franchise, they need to make something fast. And so they did. And the resulting "Hellraiser: Revelations" as you can see below looks every bit like the cheap rights-retaining production it set out to be. Marking the first time Doug Bradley isn't portraying the iconic Pinhead--some guy named Jay Gillespie steps in instead--the franchise is now scraping the bottom of the barrel with the cheapie sequel specialist Víctor García ("Mirrors 2," "Return to House on Haunted Hill") being given $75 and an… »

The Ultimate Experience Courtesy of the Lament Configuration in 'Hellraiser: Revelations' Deleted Scene!

23 August 2011 10:55 AM, PDT | bloody-disgusting.com | See recent Bloody-Disgusting.com news »

Dimension Extreme is really pushing out Hellraiser: Revelations, the Victor Garcia-directed sequel that will open in limited theaters September 2, with a VOD launch on September 1. The gates of Hell will then open on DVD October 18. Already having shared with you guys the trailer, poster and handful of stills, Bloody now scored an exclusive deleted scene that features a bum explaining that the Lament Configuration will bring these kids the ultimate experience. It gets a little long in the tooth, with some gnarly acting, which is probably why it was trimmed. Starring Steven Brand as the new Pinhead, alongside Daniel Buran, Jolene Andersen, Nick Eversman, Stephen Smith Collins and Jay Gillespie, "Two friends in Mexico discover the Lament Configuration and unleash Pinhead, but one decides to try to survive by swapping himself with someone else. New Hellraiser Trailer Online

21 August 2011 7:01 PM, PDT | EmpireOnline | See recent EmpireOnline news »

If you knew it was happening at all, your expectations for the ninth instalment in the original Hellraiser franchise may have been somewhat low. Prepare to drop them further, if you dare to take a look at the trailer for Hellraiser: Revelations. To recap, this is a stopgap release from Dimension, to prevent their rights lapsing before Patrick Lussier can get going on his reboot, which ought to be a bigger deal. Revelations was knocked together in record time on a tiny budget (estimated at under a million bucks), circumstances it's apparently attempted to get around by going the found-footage route to some extent. Sadly, on this evidence, it still plays like a fan film, an impression not helped by Stefan Smith Collins' karaoke Pinhead. Doug Bradley, probably wisely, wasn't interested.Nick Eversman (Vampires Suck) and Jay Gillespie (2001 Maniacs) star as Steve and Nico, backpackers in Mexico looking for dodgy new experiences and, »

Clive Barker Offers Final Word on Hellraiser: Revelations

21 August 2011 1:54 PM, PDT | DreadCentral.com | See recent Dread Central news »

One of the reason why we love Clive Barker so much around these parts is because of how outspoken he is. Need an example? Wait until you see his latest hilarious comments about the upcoming sequel Hellraiser: Revelations!

"Hello,my friends. I want to put on record that the flick out there using the word Hellraiser Is No Fuckin' Child Of Mine!" he screams via Twitter. "I have Nothing to do with the fuckin' thing. If they claim it's from the mind of Clive Barker, it's a lie. It's not even from my butt-hole."

Hellraiser: Revelations (review here), directed by Victor Garcia (Mirrors 2), stars Steven Brand, Daniel Buran, Jolene Andersen, Nick Eversman, Stephen Smith Collins, and Jay Gillespie.

Look for it on VOD and in limited theatres on September 1st followed by a DVD and Blu-ray release on October 18th.

First Trailer for Hellraiser: Revelations

19 August 2011 3:15 PM, PDT | ComicBookMovie.com | See recent ComicBookMovie news »

Synopsis - Two friends in Mexico discover the Lament Configuration and unleash Pinhead, but one decides to try to survive by swapping himself with someone else. Once they go missing, family members go in search of them but find Pinhead instead. Pinhead makes his return to the silver screen, but that isn't quite the quality I was hoping or expecting. Obviously this is a low budget production, and doesn't seem worthy of the title, "Hellraiser." Hellraiser: Revelations, directed by Victor Garcia (Mirrors 2), stars Steven Brand, Daniel Buran, Jolene Andersen, Nick Eversman, Stephen Smith Collins, and Jay Gillespie. On VOD and in limited theaters September. On DVD and Blu-ray October 18th. »

Tony Todd Hosts a Carnival of Blood in this Trailer for Jack the Reaper

27 April 2011 1:30 PM, PDT | 28 Days Later Analysis | See recent 28 Days Later Analysis news »

Jack the Reaper is another film from American World Pictures, which was previously titled One-by-One: Death's Door (Dread). The film stars the prolific actor Tony Todd (Hatchet II), Sally Kirkland (Bruce Almighty), and Douglas Tait (Freddy vs. Jason), in a real coming of age film. Instead of getting their first razor, several teenagers learn about the industrial revolution the hard way, by sharp axe and disfigured monster. The first trailer for Jack the Reaper was released last week and the clip is reposted here, for those who missed it.

The synopsis for Jack the Reaper:

"A group of teens set out on a field trip to a railroad museum only to encounter "Railroad Jack," who makes sure their bus crashes and forces them to explore his carnival, as he picks them off one at a time" (Dread).

Director/writer: Kimberly Seilhamer.

Cast: Chris Bruno, Jay Gillespie, and Joel Bryant. »

Tony Todd Gets Ripped With Jack the Reaper

17 April 2011 10:42 PM, PDT | DreadCentral.com | See recent Dread Central news »

Three surefire signs that your life expectancy in a teen horror flick is fleeting: you break down in the desert, you find an abandoned carnival, and Tony Todd is talking to you in his creepy voice. All three are on display in the trailer for the new teen slasher Jack the Reaper. Nice knowin' ya!

American World Pictures acquired the film originally titled One-by-One: Death's Door at last year's American Film Market and has since changed the title to the better, yet more gimmicky Jack the Reaper. In the film from writer-director Kimberly Seilhamer, a group of teens set out on a field trip to a railroad museum only to encounter "Railroad Jack", who makes sure their bus crashes and forces them to explore his carnival as he picks them off one at a time.

Why a "railroad reaper" lurks in a carnival strikes me as one of those questions »
