Lineup for SpectreFest 2014 Includes Tusk & World Premiere of Nightbreed: The Director’s Cut

From screenings of retro favorites to anticipated new releases, from live radio horror play performance to a Gremlins 30th anniversary Q&A, the 2nd SpectreFest is looking to celebrate the Halloween season in Hollywood on an even bigger scale than it did last year. Fright fans will have the chance to attend events spanning two months at this L.A.-based festival, including an appearance by Clive Barker.

From SpectreVision, the company founded by Elijah Wood, Daniel Noah and Josh C. Waller, the 2nd SpectreFest has events scheduled beginning September 4th and ending on October 31st at the Cinefamily movie theatre in Los Angeles.

Elijah Wood’s SpectreVision Shingle Unveils 2nd La Horror Festival

Elijah Wood, Daniel Noah and Josh C. Waller’s SpectreVision will host its second annual SpectreFest, expanding the neophyte L.A. horror festival’s run from two weeks in 2013 to two months starting this September. The first annual SpectreFest was inaugurated last year as an offshoot of the then-newly launched film and music label. This year, partnered again with L.A.’s specialty theater Cinefamily, SpectreFest will screen anticipated genre titles including opening film The Guest, closing pic The Babadook, Open Windows, Tusk, and Housebound along with special events anchored by horror icons Cliver Barker presenting his Nightbreed director’s cut, Larry Fessenden, Glenn McQuaid, and Joe Dante presenting the 30th anniversary of Gremlins. Here’s the full lineup of film and music events, which start September 4 and run through October:

Chiller TV's Chilling Visions: 5 States of Fear is set to premiere on July 11th, and some pretty cool new poster art for it from Iconisus L&Y - Visual Communication Systems hit the Net this weekend, which you can check out right here.

Chiller TV Announces Premiere Date for Anthology Chilling Visions: 5 States of Fear

Around this time last year, Chiller premiered their anthology film Chilling Visions: 5 Senses of Fear, which included short films from the likes of Eric England (Contracted), Emily Hagins (Pathogen) and even Pet Sematary's Gage Creed, Miko Hughes.

This year they're at it again, with the premiere looming for the follow-up Chilling Visions: 5 States of Fear.

The second installment in the series is set for premiere on July 11th at 9pm Est, of course exclusively on Chiller TV. The anthology features five short films that are each set in a different state, thus the title, and which center on five different basic human fears.

Stanley Film Fest: Live Tales from Beyond the Pale Offers Awesome Alternative to Film Program

Purveyor of all things celebrating indie horror, Larry Fessenden, brought his Glass Eye Pix team to The Stanley Film Festival in Estes Park, Colorado for a live performance of Tales from Beyond the Pale, the anthology audio play that channels the old days of scary radio dramas. Y'know, that era when all it took was some actors, some sound effects, some music and your imagination to frighten the heebie-jeebies out of listeners. The series has previously featured the macabre works of Fessenden, Glenn McQuaid (I Sell the Dead), Simon Barrett (You're Next) and Jeff Buhler (Midnight Meat Train) among many others. For Tales from Beyond the Pale: The Stanley Edition, Fessenden and McQuaid pulled together an acting troupe which included Aj Bowen (The Sacrament), Martin Starr (Silicon Valley), Jocelyn DeBoer (Dead Snow 2: Red vs. Dead) and even our pal Sam Zimmerman from Fangoria. The Stanley Film Festival has announced that Alexandre O. Philippe’s Doc of the Dead has been selected as the opening film for their upcoming event and they’ve also revealed a number of special events that will be taking place, including a special edition of Tales From Beyond The Palen and Dead Right Horror Trivia:

“The Stanley Film Festival will open Thursday, April 24, with a Gala Presentation of an original documentary from EPiX, Doc of the Dead. Directed by Colorado filmmaker Alexandre O.
