36 Reasons We're Indebted To The Small Screen

24 November 2016 7:00 AM, PST | TVfanatic | See recent TVfanatic news »

We're taking a look at the year and giving thanks for the things we've loved from the small screen.

As TV Fanatics, it's only right that we do this at least once a year.

If one thing can be seen by virtue of this slideshow, we're basking in the bounty of peak TV and not wallowing in the fact there is too much to take in.

There is enough for each of us, and surprisingly, it's rare that all of our interests intersect. What has really blown you away of late? Share with us!

1. The Pearson Family on This Is Us When you think about Thanksgiving, you think about family...and food! But mostly family. I'm very thankful that this show has graced my TV with its presence, as I cannot think of a more captivating family to watch right now. — Steve Ford 2. 2016 Critics' Choice Awards: TV Nominations Revealed

14 November 2016 11:17 AM, PST | LRMonline.com | See recent LRM Online news »

The 22nd Critics’ Choice Award is less than a month away. We may be enjoying the shiny new TV season, and while it may seem all fun and new, critics are all to ready to begin awarding some honors. The Broadcast Television Journalists Association have officially announced, via Entertainment Weekly, the TV nominees.

Leading the pack with six nominations is The People v. O.J. Simpson, not a huge surprise given its subject matter and solid execution. Also of note are the sheer number of nominations that HBO has under its belt this year — 22 in total. Noticeably absent are this year’s Netflix Marvel shows. Despite being great TV, it still seems like critics are unwilling to give comic book adaptations their fair shake come awards season.

Oh well. Better luck next year, I suppose? The film nominations will be announced on December 1, 2016.

The 22nd Annual Critics’ Choice Awards announced its list of nominees Monday, with HBO leading the pack with 22 nominations. ABC and Netflix received 14 nominations each, followed by FX with 12. The winners will be announced at the Critics’ Choice Awards gala in Santa Monica on Sunday, December 11. T.J. Miller will serve as the show’s host.

The awards show has been swirled in controversy since sealing an exclusive partnership with Entertainment Weekly earlier this month. ‘Valerian And The City Of A Thousand Planets’ Trailer: Luc Besson Unleashes Another Epic Science-Fiction Saga

Whatever you think about the films of Luc Besson, it’s hard not to admire their huge ambitions. From 12-year-old hit-woman thriller “Leon: The Professional” to science-fiction visions like “The Fifth Element” and “Lucy,” Besson has endless ideas that always have the potential to deliver big time. His next film, “Valerian And The City Of A Thousand Planets,” certainly fits the bill, and it seems like it’s going to be his most blockbuster effort to date. The movie’s source material is the graphic novel series “Valerian and Laureline,” which has one of those grand space opera stories that seemed like a no brainer for a film adaptation.

We're happy to share the world premiere of the trailer below, which has Maslany as a bipolar woman who meets a grief-stricken man (played by Tom Cullen, who is best known for his role in Andrew Haigh's Weekend), and the two try to lead a simpler life together. However, once »

It's not everyday that we see a romance set in the North Pole.

That's a place usually reserved for Santa Claus and elves, at least in our mind, which is part of what makes Canadian director Kim Nguyen's new feature Two Lovers and a Bear so interesting. Not only are Tatiana Maslany and Dane DeHaan up against the normal challenges of love, but also, freezing cold weather.

One thing is guaranteed, the pair have amazing chemistry, and we saw this for ourselves when we sat down with Maslany and DeHaan during Tiff, where they premiered their film. Star Wars: Rogue One Reshoots Were No Big Deal Says Felicity Jones

Back in May, a report surfaced that LucasFilm's first Star Wars spin-off, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, was set to undergo extensive reshoots, reportedly because Disney "panicked" after test screenings weren't favorable. It was later clarified several times that the reshoots were happening, with Tony Gilroy coming aboard to work on the script. Star Riz Ahmed called the additional photography "par for the course," since they are common on practically every big budget movie these days. Today we have a new report where Felicity Jones and Kathleen Kennedy reassure the fans that reshoots shouldn't be a cause for concern.

The Hollywood Reporter released an extensive profile on Felicity Jones, who stars in the upcoming Robert Langdon adventure Inferno alongside Tom Hanks later this month, where the star spoke about these reshoots. Earlier reports revealed that reshoots took place over a five-week period in June and July, although little »
