'Grimm': James Frain cast as Captain Renard's brother Eric

16 hours ago | Zap2It - From Inside the Box | See recent Zap2It - From Inside the Box news »

While the first season just finished up on "Grimm," it's not too early to get a jump on next year. Zap2it has found out exclusively that James Frain ("True Blood") has been cast as the brother of Captain Sean Renard (Sasha Roiz) on the spooky procedural.

Frain will play Eric Renard in what's being described as a recurring guest star. The character, who doesn't have the greatest relationship with his brother, comes to Portland after a very bad creature makes its way into town. Needless to say, Eric has his own plans, and it looks like Nick (David Giuntoli) is the target.

"Grimm" ended its first season with quite the bang. In what could easily be described as the worst day of his life, Nick has to explain to Juliette (Bitsie Tulloch) his real history. At the same time, his mom, played by Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio, makes an unexpected return. »

Evidence of NBC's Grimm Coming to Blu-ray Surfaces

28 May 2012 9:13 AM, PDT | TheHDRoom | See recent TheHDRoom news »

Online retailer Amazon.com has begun taking pre-orders for the first season of NBC's Friday night supernatural series Grimm on Blu-ray. The listed release date is August 7, 2012.

Universal Studios Home Entertainment has yet to announce Grimm will be getting a Blu-ray release in addition to the inevitable DVD. Given Amazon has a list price ($74.98), it's looking highly likely the first 22 episodes of Grimm will be joining Blu-ray's slowly building library of television titles.

Grimm is set in Portland, Oregon and revolves around a police detective, Nick Burkhardt, who learns his ability to see supernatural creatures is part of his family's lineage. Working together with a reformed "Big Bad Wolf," Nick is tasked with maintaining the balance between humans and supernaturals. Grimm stars David Giuntoli, Silas Weir Mitchell, Bitsie Tulloch, Sasha Roiz, Russell Hornsby and Reggie Lee.

Season 2 of Grimm kicks off on NBC later this year.

The Grimm season finale slayed the competition in ratings on Friday night with a finale that contained reveals (Nick told Juliette the truth) and twists (Nick’s mom’s alive!).

What you may not know? How long some of those big moments have been sitting in the brains of executive producers Jim Kouf and David Greenwalt. In a chat with EW earlier today, the two chatted about the finale’s twists and turns and tease a little bit about what’s to come. (Don’t worry about spoilers, though. Grimm Review, Season 1, Episode 22, “Woman in Black”

Written by: David Greenwalt & Jim Kouf

Directed by Norberto Barba

Airs Fridays at 9pm Et on NBC

A tweet from Bitsie Tulloch revealing that the Grimm special effects wonks had been busy making a cast of her hand ignited fevered speculation that Juliette was heading for a Grim end this week. Most of this was fueled by the desire of we female fans to see David Giuntoli get frisky with some naughty Wesen hotness (we liked it when he bit Adelind Schade), but some of it also by the fact that Juliette’s character is underwritten to the point of invisibility (I’ve met buses that are more interesting than Juliette). Bitsie Tulloch has done what she can with the part, but no actor, however skilled, can make a character without the slightest hint of a twist watchable.

'Grimm' finale: Nick's worlds collide and it gets dangerous

18 May 2012 11:22 PM, PDT | Zap2It - From Inside the Box | See recent Zap2It - From Inside the Box news »

It's been a hauntingly fun season on "Grimm." But before we call it a wrap on our favorite spooky procedural, there's still the season finale to consider.

Here's what we learned on Friday's (May 18) episode.

[Spoiler alert]

Nick (David Giuntoli) and Juliette (Bitsie Tulloch): The day Nick had long-since feared has finally arrived. His hand is forced and he needs to explain to Juliette that he's a Grimm. Needless to say, she doesn't believe a word he's saying, mostly because he sounds completely crazy. Nick's attempt to prove that he's not lying starts off with the best of intentions, but it ends up with Juliette in the hospital and in dire straits.

The search for the gold coins - The hunt for the precious items we learned of earlier in the season continues. This time it brings out Akira Kimura (Brian Tee), a man with a connection to the all-powerful Yakuza mob. »

What do you think will happen in tonight’s season finale of Grimm? When we left them last week, Hank (Russell Hornsby) had seen a wesen change back into a human when he died. Veterinarian Juliet (Bitsie Tulloch) was suspecting there may be something else out there than the animals she treats. And what about Capt. Renault (Sasha Roiz) and his buddies?

Stars David Giuntoli and Russell Hornsby took some time away from NBC‘s Upfront to speak with the media in a teleconference, and SciFi Mafia was able to ask what they could tell us about the finale:

David Giuntoli: Well, we’ve got about three cliffhangers, major cliffhangers that the audience will be left with at the end of the finale. One of the major characters may get very hurt in this episode, and the episode’s called “Woman in Black.” And we’ll be introduced to »

Grimm Review, Season 1, Episode 21: “Big Feet”

Teleplay by: Richard Hatem

Directed by Omar Madha

Airs Fridays at 9pm Et on NBC

It always annoys me when characters in shows have professions as an add-on rather than an integral part of who they are and in that vein, I mentioned in last week’s review that it would be nice if we got to see Juliette (who is a vet) actually treating a sick animal, rather than just mentioning it from time to time between being patient with Nick when he yet again gets called away just as they are sitting down to eat or she’s turning back the bed covers with an expectant look in her eye.

This week my wish is granted and when Wesen trouble strikes, Juliette is the one at the other end of the phone, called out to treat an injured horse. »
