Eli Roth Has a Bloody Ataque Al Corazon

28 December 2012 1:21 PM, PST | DreadCentral.com | See recent Dread Central news »

Telenovelas are sacred ground for millions of Spanish-speaking fans around the world, but with the addition of Eli Roth to "Ataque Al Corazon" ("Attack the Heart") as Dr. Zacarias, these televised affairs of the heart have never been bloodier.

Our compadres over at Latino Review drew our attention to the following clip, which offers a hell of a lot more grue than it does boohoo. "Ataque Al Corazon" is the telenovela that the characters from the upcoming film Que Pena Tu Familia watch. That flick drops in Chile next week, and it is the third film in the hilarious Que Pena series from Aftershock director Nicolas Lopez.

Eli Roth Gives Telenovelas A Shot & Headlines ‘Ataque Al Corazon’

28 December 2012 11:46 AM, PST | LatinoReview | See recent LatinoReview news »

I guess The Bear Jew needs something to fall back on in case the blood & guts thing doesn’t work out. If that’s the case then William Levy is totally screwed.

In the short video clip below, Eli Roth makes his Spanish Soap Opera debut as Dr. Zacarias in Ataque Al Corazon (Attack The Heart), the telenovela that the characters from the upcoming film Que Pena Tu Familia watch.

Que Pena Tu Familia drops in Chile next week and it is the third film in the hilarious Que Pena series from Aftershock director Nicolas Lopez.

Pay close attention gore hounds. Especially when Dr. Zacarias when gets surgical because, trust me, Eli Roth isn’t completely abandoning horror anytime soon.

Until the next bloody episode…

Hot Trailer For Nicolas Lopez’s ‘Aftershock’ Starring Eli Roth

26 December 2012 11:13 AM, PST | LatinoReview | See recent LatinoReview news »

What’s poppin’ post holiday folks?

I’ll tell ya!

Chilewood.

Chilewood is this effort by Eli Roth and Chilean director Nicolas Lopez to create films from Chile for mainstream U.S. audiences and the world at large. Chilewood is a concept — an “alternative filmmaking model,” as Lopez puts it, which prioritizes far lower-budget productions, but still delivers audiences polished storytelling and production values.

Lopez is picking up his Canon 7D, making micro budget genre films in his homeland, giving it a polished look, and pretty much killing the game right now.  He has got the right sensibility. Make dope genre films instead of those bullshit high brow arthouse movies with Gael Garcia Bernal that Nobody stateside watches.

Over the holiday, I saw Lopez’s Que Pena Tu Vida on HBO Go, then the hilarious sequel Que Pena Tu Boda on Netflix. The third movie Que Pena Tu Familia drops in Chile next week. »

Trailer: ‘After Shock’ – a disaster-survivalist horror film featuring Eli Roth

26 December 2012 10:16 AM, PST | SoundOnSight | See recent SoundOnSight news »

A disaster-survivalist thriller or a horror film? Aftershock is a bit of both. From director Nicolas Lopez (making his English-language debut), Eli Roth (Inglourious Basterds) headlines this slick but tasteless genre entry. Inspired by the Chilean earthquake, which killed a reported 525 people and left 9% of the population without homes, one has to first ask if watching such a horrific event turned into a grade-b horror flick is their cup of tea? Watch the trailer and decide.

Here's the Trailer for Aftershock Starring Eli Roth

24 December 2012 10:27 AM, PST | shocktillyoudrop.com | See recent shocktillyoudrop news »

There's been a whole lot of Eli Roth in our headlines lately, and for good reason.  In addition to wrapping The Green Inferno, he's also shepherding (and directed the first episode for) Hemlock Grove, a Netflix original series, and starring in Aftershock (which he co-wrote).

Dimension Films is releasing the latter in 2013 and we have the trailer waiting for you after the jump.

In the film directed by Nicolas Lopez, an American tourist’s Chilean vacation goes from good to great when he meets some beautiful women travellers. But when an earthquake ravages the underground nightclub they’re in, a fun night quickly turns to terror. Escaping to the surface is just the beginning as they face nightmarish chaos above ground.

We spoke to Roth about the project a few months back - you can read that interview here.

Ah, Christmas. A time of peace and love and earthquakes and slavery and bad club music. Yes, while - being male - we spent our weekend wrapping up the last minute shopping a pair of remarkably not-Christmasy trailers arrived online.First, there is the latest for Quentin Tarantino's Django Unchained. Which would cover the aforementioned slavery angle and which Spike Lee says he will never, ever see. And, second, there is Nicolas Lopez' Aftershock which covers the bad club music and earthquakes while throwing in a bit of Eli Roth for good measure. Check them both below. »

Aftershock Trailer Rumbles In

23 December 2012 10:49 AM, PST | EmpireOnline | See recent EmpireOnline news »

Empire readers might have seen the exclusive on-location report on Eli Roth’s latest horror in the new, Django Unchained-flavoured issue of the magazine. The first trailer for the movie has also arrived.Aftershock, which boasts Roth starring, co-writing and producing (but leaving the director’s chair to co-writer Nicolas Lopez) finds the Hostel man as a bloke looking for some fun in Chile. The traveller is introduced to a cool underground nightclub where the booze flows, the music plays and the ceiling suddenly collapses. That last part isn’t actually one of the club’s selling points, as a deadly earthquake has hit the place. And that’s the least of the problems – when our hero and his surviving friends make it out of the subterranean death trap, they discover that the local prison was damaged by the trembler and the prisoners have taken their chance to go full Andy Dufresne. »

Trailer for Aftershock, starring Eli Roth

23 December 2012 1:48 AM, PST | www.themoviebit.com | See recent TheMovieBit news »

It seems like a long time since we had a good disaster movie, so Nicolas Lopez's Aftershock is rushing in to fill that gap. Co-written, produced and starring Eli Roth as one of a group of survivors of an earthquake in Chile, it promises the insane amount of gore we have come to associate with the man who brought us Hostel, but judging by the trailer, it should also provide some interesting and tense moments as we see the worst of human nature creep it's way to surface in the groups quest for survival. The movie is slated for release next year, but no concrete date has been given yet. via IGN »

Watch: First Trailer For Aftershock

22 December 2012 3:58 AM, PST | Filmofilia | See recent Filmofilia news »

After the first clip, which just showcases what happens to a trendy Chilean nightclub and its inhabitants when The Big One strikes, the first official trailer for Aftershock has arrived.

Co-written by and starring Eli Roth, the film which takes place in the wake of a deadly February 27th, 2010 Chilean earthquake, quickly turns into a bloody horror film in true Eli Roth fashion. Selena Gomez makes a cameo in this direct-to-dvd level fare, which also stars Andrea Osvart, Ariel Levy, Nicolás Martínez, Lorenza Izzo and Natasha Yarovenko, respectively.

However, Nicolas Lopez makes his American feature film debut with Aftershock that he co-wrote with Guillermo Amoedo and is currently expected to arrive in Us theaters in 2013.

Hit the jump to watch the trailer for the natural disaster horror thriller that our pal Brad at RopeOfSilicon heavily criticized and called it ‘a travesty of a film’.

21 December 2012 1:41 PM, PST | Collider.com | See recent Collider.com news »

The first trailer for the disaster thriller Aftershock, co-written by and starring Eli Roth, has been released online.  The film takes place in the wake of a deadly earthquake, but as this trailer shows, it quickly turns into a bloody horror film in true Eli Roth fashion.  It looks like a mix between Final Destination and Hostel, and I'm not sure if there's simply one deranged killer on the loose or many, but the pic does indeed look to be quite gory. Hit the jump to watch the trailer, and click here to watch Steve's interview with Roth and co-writer/director Nicolas Lopez.  The film also stars Andrea OsvartAriel Levy, and Selena Gomez.
