At early age he was discovered while dancing in the top of the bowling alley, he then become part of an afternoon show called "That's Entertainment" in the Philippines. He then had the name of Billy Joe but he changed it recently to Billy Crawford.

He moved back to the United States during his teenage years and started a career in music. He is now performing mostly in the UK, sometimes visiting schools too, to do a gig.

Won best male international artist, beating, among others, Robbie Williams, at the NRJ music awards in Cannes, France on Jan. 18, 2003. A year earlier, he was awarded for 2002 NRJ Music Awards for "Best Newcomer of the Year" at France. NJR is a French-based radio group.
In 2007, GMA Network launched the reality dance competition "Move: The Search for Billy Crawford's Pinoy Dancers" which the international pop star himself hosted. The competition is a search for six dancers that will complete his concert act in the Philippines.
