If you're like me and love travel, you probably also love Travel Channel's Anthony Bourdain No Reservations. What's not to love? There's food, there's local culture, there's wit. So when my inbox chimed at the arrival of an email from one of the show's publicists, the last thing I expected was to read that Bourdain got a new show. Have no fear, nothing is being replaced. In fact, come November 2nd, Bourdain and his team will release the first episode of a new animated web series (titled Robo Chef). The promo trailer (below) says the series was created to answer the question of "what really goes on inside his head", for those who wonder. Frankly, I never knew I had to wonder. I mean, this is a guy who fits three hours worth of soul-searching voiceover into a 43-minute show each... »

It has gotten to the point where I really don't care what the hell Anthony Bourdain cares about anything. I liked Kitchen Confidential (the book, not the TV show) and some of his other writing, but this need to speak out on anything and everything in the food world he finds lame or disgusting or "evil" has gotten old. Now he (and chef David Chang) is speaking out on other things he can't stand, and one of them is Food Network host Guy Fieri.
Personally, I wouldn't bleach my hair and wear those shorts, but come on, is it really worth bad mouthing his hosting and cooking? I love Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives and Ultimate Recipe Showdown!
Update: it's actually Chang who made the remarks, but Bourdain doesn't like Fieri either.

I could probably write something about politics, sex, healthcare, education, or religion and it wouldn't be as controversial as what I'm about to say: Anthony Bourdain is wrong and Sandra Lee is right.
If you haven't been keeping track of the things Bourdain has been saying about the Food Network host, here's a quick summary. Bourdain wrote some unkind things about Lee and her Semi-Homemade Show (and some other Food Network hosts) a couple of years ago. Among other things he called her "pure evil," a "hell spawn," and said "she must be stopped." Ouch. There's also this video of Bourdain at a food festival dumping on Lee, and now Bourdain has written on his blog about his recent brief encounter with Lee. at the premiere of Julie & Julia.Continue reading In the Anthony Bourdain vs. Sandra Lee battle, I side with Sandra Lee

The cast of Julie and Julia moved cross-country for the NYC premiere after hitting the red carpet in La earlier this week. Meryl Streep went a bit more casual this time while Amy Adams took it up a notch in her floor-length gown. There were a few famous chefs out for the night, as well as Julie Powell who inspired the title character of the film. Both Yum and Buzz had the chance to interview Julie this week - read about her thoughts on the movie here and her relationship with Julia Child here. As celebrity food people go, Anthony Bourdain is probably the most controversial, mostly due to his hatred of basically everyone except people who make food in lesser developed countries. You could make an argument for Gordon Ramsay, what with the swearing and the yelling, but that shtick only makes him annoying and funny, not scandalous. The split season of No Reservations on the Travel Channel continues tonight. Let the dirty bon mots begin. »

Written by Matt Goldberg Bradley Cooper is becoming fairly ubiquitous. After having a solid supporting role on a few seasons of "Alias" and headline Fox's failed television adaptation of Anthony Bourdain's "Kitchen Confidential", Cooper has made sure to stay on movie screens with supporting roles in "Yes Man", "He's Just Not That Into You", and this summer's "The Hangover". Now Drew over at HitFix is saying that Cooper is on the short-list to star in Martin Campbell's adaptation of DC Comics' "Green Lantern". Drew makes sure to note that this isn't a wish-list or taking-a-meeting type non-sense but that solid sources are telling him that Cooper is the one to bet on for taking this movie. It's a sensible choice. My only concern is if Cooper can be charismatic enough. Heroes, unless they're Batman, have to be likable. ... »

If I were somehow given the opportunity to host my own moviegoer-based reality show, I would have difficulty deciding what sort of show it would be. One idea is a Travel Channel show in which I'm the movie theater version of Anthony Bourdain, visiting cinemas (and former cinemas) around the world, with a concentration on celebrating moviegoing. However, the other idea is more negative, though it focuses on my desire to fix the many problems with today's theaters. On the flip side, as a movie theater version of Gordon Ramsay (or Tabatha Coffey), I would go to troubled cinemas and give them a makeover. The latter idea would be too costly and not television-friendly enough to exist, yet if there's anything I've learned from writing a column about cinemas it's that readers prefer to discuss the cons of moviegoing rather than the pros. It's a shame, sure, but in a »

She reportedly earns $18 million a year, but culinary queen Rachael Ray shops at Target and Tj Maxx, drinks beer and not champagne, and has a business "built for a recession," she says. "The magazine, the daytime show, we've always tried to write affordable, accessible [recipes]," Ray, 40, tells ABC's Nightline for a profile to air Monday. "Those are key words for us, and I do mean us, a huge staff of people at the magazine who love to cook affordable, friendly food that helps families eat better for less. So I think this is really a time for all of our team to shine ... You know, »
