Ant-Man Fights Captain America in Early Civil War Concept Art

As of now, Captain America: Civil War is still the movie to beat this year at the worldwide box office, with $1.15 billion. However, Disney Pixar's Finding Dory has the biggest domestic total with $478.4 million, well ahead of Cap's $407.7 million here in the states. Still, this superhero adventure is a huge hit, both critically and commercially, kicking off Marvel Phase 3 and introducing new heroes like Black Panther (Chadwick Boseman) and Spider-Man (Tom Holland). One of the most memorable moments of the film, though, has to be the introduction of Giant-Man. Today we have a glimpse at this character's early design with new concept art, which offers some intriguing hints about the early story development.

Kathryn Bigelow’s Detroit Riots Drama Plucks Two Up-And-Comers

Casting on Kathryn Bigelow‘s next feature, one primed to chronicle the Detroit Riots of ’67, has exploded into life, and The Hollywood Reporter brings word of two new additions to that growing ensemble.

Nipping at the heels of Anthony Mackie’s addition to the cast, THR has revealed that Jacob Latimore (Collateral Beauty) and Algee Smith (Earth to Echo) have now boarded the project as it gears up to enter production in the coming weeks. With potent, real-life drama at its disposal coupled with the creative talent of Bigelow and screenwriter Mark Boal (The Hurt Locker, Zero Dark Thirty) behind the lens, the filmmaker’s latest will be one to keep an eye on when it bows in theaters at some point in 2017.

While Kathryn Bigelow has found her lead for her currently untitled Zero Dark Thirty follow-up, she is still shaping the rest of the cast. Now, Deadline reports, Anthony Mackie has joined the film that charts the Detroit riots of 1967 which lasted over 5 summer days and was one of the most destructive in history. Mackie, re-teaming with the director, reportedly plays a Vietnam veteran who is a key role in the unfolding narrative. Off a script penned by Mark Boal (Zero Dark, The Hurt Locker), the film is said to focus on the discrimination that led to the protests.

This comes with news from Variety that three other roles have been filled by Will PoulterJack Reynor, Ben O’Toole, currently in unknown roles. Reynor was recently in Sing Street, while Poulter shared a lot of screen time with Tom Hardy in The Revenant, and O’Toole can be seen next »

Busting out of The Hurt Locker and onto the ravaged streets of Detroit, Deadline brings word that Captain America: Civil War star Anthony Mackie has agreed terms to reteam with Kathryn Bigelow and screenwriter Mark Boal for their as-yet-untitled Detroit riots picture.

Word of Mackie’s casting comes only 24 hours after we brought you the news that Will Poulter (The Revenant), Ben O’Toole (Hacksaw Ridge), and Jack Reynor (Macbeth, Transformers: Age Of Extinction) had all climbed aboard the true-life drama, fleshing out an ensemble that already features Star Wars: The Force Awakens breakout John Boyega.

Casey Affleck to Star in Debra Granik’s Adventure Drama ‘My Abandonment’

Casey Affleck is set to topline Debra Granik’s film adaptation of the 2009 novel by Peter RockMy Abandonment,” according to The Tracking Board.

Inspired by a true story, the film will center around Caroline, a thirteen-year-old girl and her father who live in Forest Park, an enormous nature preserve in Portland, Oregon. Living in the an elaborate cave shelter, they bathe in a nearby creek, store perishables at the water’s edge, use a makeshift septic system, tend a garden, even keep a library of sorts. Once a week they go buy groceries and blend in with the civilized world. Their whole world turns upside down when a jogger discovers where they live and Caroline is torn between her loyalty to her father and the possibility of a new and normal life.

Tom Holland Comments On The Spider-man Footage Shown At Sdcc

Rosamund Pike and Daniel Brühl To Star In Palestinian Hijacking Drama ‘Entebbe’

Rosamund Pike and Daniel Brühl are in talks to topline “Entebbe,” Working Title’s Palestinian drama about the true events surrounding Operation Entebbe and the hijacking of an Air France plane in 1976. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the actors will portray two German hijackers.

In the summer of that year, an Air France plane with 258 passengers was hijacked by two members of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine and two members of the German Revolutionary Cells. The thriller’s title comes from the hostage-rescue mission carried out by commandos of the Israel Defense Forces at Entebbe Airport in Uganda.

The film will be directed by Jose Padilha with a script by Gregory Burke.

Arrow Films bolsters exec team

Distributor has made four hires, including Mike Hewitt from Universal.

UK distributor Arrow Films has bolstered its head-office team with four hires.

Mike Hewitt has joined as brand marketing and business development manager. Having begun his career at distributor Revolver Entertainment, Hewitt worked on the acquisitions of titles including Iron Sky. Joining Universal in 2011, he oversaw the theatrical and home entertainment campaigns of films including Wild Bill, Spring Breakers and Kick-Ass 2.

Daniel Perry has taken up the position of digital strategy manager, having previously worked at ITV Studios and Disney, where he managing digital releases and marketing strategies for franchises including Toy Story and Thunderbirds.

Kevin Lambert will be the company’s head of catalogue production and acquisitions. He joins having spent the past 16 years as production manager for Eureka Entertainment, which owns Masters of Cinema, the publisher of classic re-releases on DVD and Blu-ray.

Spider-Man Vs. Giant-Man in Civil War Concept Art

Last May, when production began on Captain America: Civil War, many were surprised when Paul Rudd was announced to return as Ant-Man in this Marvel Phase Three adventure. However, it started to make more sense after Ant-Man hit theaters with a post credit scene that tied into Civil War. As production was under way, there had been several rumors swirling that Ant-Man may transform into Giant Man, which is exactly what happened in this blockbuster, and today we have early concept art from part of this scene.

The artwork comes courtesy of artist Andy Park's Twitter, revealing that when he painted these keyframes, he thought, "Holy Cow we're gonna see this on film?!" Ant-Man transformed into Giant Man during the massive airport fight sequence between Team Cap and Team Iron Man.
