Teresa Lee(II)
Teresa Lee, the sixth child of a family of eight siblings, is the
daughter of an influential businessman in Dili, from where she was
evacuated while still a baby at the time of Indonesia's invasion of
East Timor. Spending her childhood in Taipei with all the trappings of
an upper-crust lifestyle, she moved at the age of 14 to Australia,
where her father has extensive business interests in, among other
things, the catering industry. Being of East Timorese, Chinese, and
Portuguese descent, the well-travelled Lee's exposure from an early age
to various styles of cuisine fired in her a profound interest in
cooking. Spending much of her spare time assisting the chefs in her
father's restaurants, she would often experiment with different
flavours and cooking styles to come up with new tastes and ways of
presentation. On top of her flair for cooking, Lee also models
occasionally, and her face has been seen in magazines including
Australia's Vogue. After spending a year living in London, Lee moved to
Hong Kong in 1998 and immediately made a huge impact on the local
social scene. It is in these capacities - as a photogenic
girl-about-town sharing her love of cooking with the audience - that
she now presents the cookery/lifestyle programme, "A Dish About Town".
