Coming-of-age drama The Road Within has sold to Well Go USA, which has acquired U.S. rights and is plotting a day-and-date release in theaters and on VOD. Gren Wells scripted and makes her directing debut with the story of three teenage residents at a behavioral clinic — a Tourette’s patient, a rebellious anorexic, and an Ocd patient — and the unexpected but life-changing road trip that takes them all by surprise. Zoe Kravitz (X-Men: First Class), Robert Sheehan (The Mortal Instruments), Dev Patel (Slumdog Millionaire), Robert Patrick (True Blood), and Kyra Sedgwick (The Closer) star. Pic debuted this summer at the La Film Festival and is produced by Bradley Gallo, Michael A. Helfant, Robert L. Stein, Brent Emery and Guy J. Louthan. Executive producers are William Gallo and Viola Jager and co-executive producers are Philip M. Cohen, Raphael Kryszek Carlos Alberto de Oliveira Junior, Alberto Raposo de Oliveira and Allen Church.

Hyde Park-Image Nation and Troika Pictures have announced that actor-singer Nick Jonas will star as the male lead opposite Isabel Lucas in the edgy thriller Careful What You Wish For. The film is directed by Elizabeth Allen (“The Vampire Diaries,” “Aquamarine”) and written by Chris Frisina and Gregg Hurwitz. Careful What You Wish For will be the Grammy-nominated musician’s first lead acting role in a feature film.
In the story, Doug (Jonas) gets more than he bargained for when he starts having an affair with Lena (Lucas), the young wife of an investment banker renting the lake house next door for the summer. The husband’s suspicious death reveals a substantial life insurance policy.
The central roles of Sheriff “Big Jack,” and Insurance Investigator “Alvarez” are yet to be cast. Everyone is suspect in this edgy thriller reminiscent of “Basic Instinct” and “Body Heat.”

Written by Chris Frisina, it will star Isabel Lucas (Transformers 2, Immortals). Plot centers on a high school student who gets a lot more than he bargained for when he’s drawn into an affair with the young wife of a wealthy businessman. It’s described as being along the lines of Basic Instinct and Body Heat. Lucas’ recent roles have included the upcoming Terrence Malick film Knight Of Cups, the remake of Red Dawn and The Loft. WWE Studios and Troika Pictures, LLC today announced they will co-produce and co-finance the upcoming thriller, The Hive, starring Halle Berry and Abigail Breslin. Principal photography is scheduled to commence on July 6 in and around Los Angeles.
