Steven Hirsch is co-chairman of Vivid Entertainment, the worlds leading adult film studio. Hirsch founded Vivid in 1984 and has led it to its role as the top company in the Southern California epicenter of erotic films, producing more high quality movies than any other studio.

The second generation of his family to be in the business, he has not only lived the history of modern adult entertainment, he is also credited with changing its direction. Says AVN publisher Paul Fishbein: Steven Hirsch and Vivid have almost single-handedly moved the adult industry into the mainstream.

Early on, Steven Hirsch differentiated Vivid in a crowded market by focusing on high quality movies shot on film. He developed the Vivid Girl concept, which revived the Hollywood studio system of signing beautiful, talented adult stars to exclusive contracts. He devised a strategy of using glamorous cover girl packaging for the video box covers in order to secure distribution in mass-market retail stores. So arresting are the Vivid boxcovers that they were the focus of a major photographic art exhibit at the World of Wonder Gallery in Hollywood. Hirsch has made the Vivid Girls familiar by putting them on billboards in high traffic venues such as Sunset Boulevard and Times Square, and has extended the brand name through advertising, product licensing and continuous innovative marketing.

Hirsch has pushed adult film making into new fields, creating imprints such as Vivid-Celeb, which packages erotic movies based on actual footage involving high-profile celebrities ranging from Kim Kardashian to former Miss USA Kelli McCarthy; the acclaimed Vivid-Ed series with Tristan Taormino has moved sex education into an exciting new dimension and Vivid-Alt, an award-winning brand presenting edgy alternative movies.

Hirsch and Vivid have been the subject of three acclaimed television series -- Porno Valley,a reality TV series plus Debbie Does Dallas Again and Deeper Throat. The latter two aired on Showtime. Hirsch was recognized early on as a creative visionary who saw the potential for his company to grow beyond the confines of the adult entertainment industry. He and his original partner, David James, an industry veteran with extensive international experience, were later joined by a third partner, Bill Asher, a Dartmouth College graduate with an MBA from USC, who has engineered the companys recent financial success through a series of dramatic transactions and alliances. The three are co-chairmen of the company.

Hirsch has long been recognized for his early adaptation of new technologies to advance Vivids industry leadership.
