Taz Lake, a versatile storyteller living in Atlanta, GA since 1997, is a screenwriter, novelist, and non-fiction author who often collaborates on film productions through his company Crabby Rabbit Productions. He crafts high-concept narratives that defy traditional genres and promise to captivate, entertain, and ignite curiosity in his readers and viewers.
Born to a career Marine, Taz's formative years included attending high school in Hawaii and graduating from Duke University, where he majored in chemistry as a pre-med student while also delving into the visual and performing arts as a painter and vocalist. After his first graduate degree in Chicago, his attention turned to a burgeoning web technology industry. This became his career when he moved to Atlanta in 1997 and got an MBA from Georgia State University. By working as a university instructor, board member, corporate technologist, and entrepreneur, he found success in Atlanta's technology community working with global companies over two decades.
However, life took a sharp twist when Taz experienced a near fatal heart attack in his 40s, a pivotal moment that led him to reevaluate his earliest creative aspirations. Bolstered by early writing successes, he boldly embraced his creative calling through writing full time.
Today, his cultural exposure and travels influence the unique characters and profound themes which appeal to universal audiences. As a curator of thought-provoking, socially conscious worlds, Taz invites others to explore a range of genres, from the far reaches of science fiction to dark comedy and heartfelt drama.
So far, his spec features and shorts have earned recognition in prestigious film festival competitions, including Austin Film Festival, HollyShorts, Sidewalk, DC Shorts, Richmond International, Finishline, and Filmmatic.
